I found this place by looking for a neighborhood with a bit of nightlife and local energy, and it ended up being a great fit — especially for the price. I was expecting a more traditional hostel setup, but it’s actually a hybrid between a capsule hotel and a hostel. My room had six capsule-style beds, each with a clean, modern design and a surprisingly cozy feel. The lighting inside the pods was especially well done — soft, warm, and diffused through wood finishes instead of harsh LED lighting. As someone who works visually, I really appreciated that detail. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful. There was a bit of a language barrier, but between their effort and translation apps, communication was easy. They got me checked in smoothly, offered small touches like cookies at the front desk, and provided essentials like slippers, a toothbrush, and even a disposable bath towel — which I hadn’t seen before. The building itself is quite new, so there’s that “new construction” smell in some areas, and like many places in Shanghai, there’s a bit of cigarette smell in common areas and bathrooms. That said, my room itself was clean and didn’t have any smoke smell. The mattress was very comfortable — I actually scored a 99 sleep score during my stay. I got lucky with a quiet roommate, but overall the setup felt private, secure, and well-designed for rest. The bathrooms were mostly clean and new, though there were some early issues with drainage in the showers. Nothing major, but worth noting. One of the highlights for me was the common area — a bright, warm space with large windows where you can eat, work, or just relax. It’s open 24/7 and stocked with free tea, coffee, and even a really cool water dispenser where you can choose exact temperature and volume. Small detail, but very useful. The staff continued to impress throughout my stay — helping me with lockers, local apps like Alipay and WeChat, and even being flexible when I accidentally missed booking an extra night. They were also kind enough to hold my luggage until midnight on my last day. As for the location — this really depends on your travel style. I didn’t see many other foreigners staying there, and it didn’t have a typical “hostel social” vibe. But for me, that was a plus. It felt very local, with tons of restaurants, cafes, bike access, and easy transit nearby. I was able to explore the city more like a resident than a tourist, which I always prefer. For around $15 a night, this place offers incredible value. If you’re looking for something polished, social, or upscale, this might not be your spot. But if you want a clean, modern, local experience at a great price — it’s hard to beat.

After staying in the first room on the first night, I booked another room in the same hotel for the second night. This room was slightly more expensive (around 10 RMB more) but it had a window facing the road. The room had all the same basic amenities as the first one, including Wi-Fi, slippers, dental kit, shower gel, towels, and a hairdryer. The cleanliness was also just as good. The room was very clean with no dust, and the bathroom was neat and well maintained. Compared with the first room, this one was slightly larger and felt more comfortable mainly because of the window. The window provided natural light and ventilation, which made the room feel much more open and pleasant. Overall, everything I mentioned in my previous review about the hotel—such as the cleanliness, basic amenities, reasonable price, and convenient location—also applies to this room. The only difference is that this room is slightly bigger and has a window, which makes it a bit more comfortable. If you are deciding between the two, paying a little extra for the window room is worth it. It is still very affordable for this location and provides a more comfortable stay. ⸻ 在第一晚入住没有窗户的房间之后，第二晚我仍然选择住在同一家酒店，不过订了一个稍微贵一点的房间（大约贵了10元左右）。这个房间有一扇面向马路的窗户。 这个房间和第一晚的房间一样，配备了所有基本设施，例如 Wi-Fi、拖鞋、牙具、沐浴露、毛巾以及吹风机。房间的卫生状况也同样很好，非常干净，没有灰尘，浴室也整洁干净。 和第一晚的房间相比，这个房间的面积稍微大一点，而且因为有窗户，所以整体感觉更加舒适。窗户带来了自然采光和自然通风，让房间感觉更加通透和舒适。 总体来说，我在之前评价中提到的优点，比如房间干净、设施齐全、价格合理以及位置方便，在这个房间里同样适用。唯一的区别是这个房间稍微大一点，并且有窗户，因此住起来更加舒服。 如果需要在两个房型之间选择，我会建议多花一点点钱选择带窗户的房间。价格依然很实惠，但整体住宿体验会更好。

Hammasharja ja kasvopyyhe tarjotaan sisäänkirjautumisen yhteydessä. Ei pyyhkeitä. Yksi sängyn latausliitännöistä oli rikki. Ei myöskään äänieristystä. Paikka on pieni, ja he sanoivat, että lakanat vaihdettiin jokaiselle vieraalle, mutta en nähnyt niitä muuttuneen. Tunsin kovasti kutinaa keskellä yötä, joten raapisin jatkuvasti. Nukuin muutaman tunnin ja kirjauduin ulos noin kahdeksalta aamulla. Alakerran vesiautomaatissa on vain kylmää vettä. Hanasta ei tule kuumaa vettä. Paikka on liian pieni ja epämukava. Sopii budjettimatkailijoille. On normaalia yöpyä hotellissa.

The hostel is good overall. The staff are extremely friendly, warm, and attentive. I had heavy luggage, and one of them helped me carry it upstairs (there’s no elevator) without me even having to ask the second time—really appreciated.❤️ The room is modern and clean. The cleaning lady sweeps the floor and takes out the trash every day. The location is excellent, very close to Subway Line 10, which covers most major tourist attractions, so there’s little need to change lines. Overall, it’s great value for budget travelers. The only downside is that the bunk beds are quite squeaky. My first upper-bunk roommate moved a lot, and every movement felt like I was being shaken. Luckily, my second roommate was much gentler—she spoke softly and was very careful when getting into bed. That part really comes down to luck. You can still feel the bed move whenever the other person moves. If you’re a light sleeper, this might not be the best choice for you.

This was a great place in a great location. The front desk was helpful. It had a terrace and other common areas where people can work, surf the Net or socialize. Highly reccomended.

Kahden yön yöpymisen jälkeen minut korotettiin kuuden hengen huoneesta neljän hengen huoneeseen. Kaikki kokivat, että huoneessa ei ollut melua ovella näet Jing'an Joy Cityn, kello 23:n jälkeen ei kuulu mitään ääntä Aloin lukea arvosteluja, että tämä paikka ei ole hygieeninen, täti, tulin tänne siivoamaan pesuallas, kylpyhuone, wc ja käytävät, mutta kun tulin yöllä kylpyhuone oli vähän likainen, oli ihmisiä, jotka olivat pissaneet, mutta eivät huuhtoneet, ihmisiä, jotka olivat heittäneet paperia wc:hen, mutta eivät huuhtoneet, ja istuintyynyissä oli jalanjälkiä, on myös ihmisiä lautasliinat kylpyhuoneen lattialla suihkun jälkeen. Eihän täti voi olla siellä koko päivää, vaikka se ei olisikaan hänen oma kotinsa. Patja on erittäin hyvä, kun tulen tänne uudelleen. Metroasema on vain seitsemän tai kahdeksan minuutin päässä Kansan aukiolta ja yhden pysäkin päässä Qipu Roadin naisten vaatetorilta myös valoisa paikka toisessa kerroksessa klo 8 ehtiä junaan täti on jo tehnyt hyvää työtä ja tosi siisti!

衞生做的很乾凈 設施什麼的應該是翻新過了比較不錯 就是吹風筒老是過熱 然後隔音真的真的太差了，外面人的腳步聲一清二楚，一個人住都聽的有點害怕 離地鐵站有點距離，但是會騎單車就還好

周圍交通便捷，樓下就是公交車站，距離地鐵站有一段路程，吃喝都有，服務好，前台有咖啡，適合獨自旅行，房間裏還有冰箱洗衣機！

Booked this hotel last minute, cause my favorite hotel is closing down business this month and i wanted something nearer cause I’m well versed with the surrounding areas, 1: the first red flag is the reception, mail and deliveries are all piled up and falling off shelves, it’s so dirty and humid, it looks like a hoarder’s poach, they’re no waiting chairs, so you’ll stand while they process the guests that came before you until it’s your turn !! The receptionists are very nice and helpful . 2; no room housekeeping ( you’ll have to ask for someone to come take the rubbish and give you towels or change your bedding. 3: THE FILTH!!! The filth is on level 1000/100 the grime made it hard for me to shower with my eyes open, I’m not sure if the place has a manager and if they care about the the wellbeing of the clients , because from what i saw, the cleaners don’t even bother, the floor had food stains from i think when they just opened, the sink🤮 the bathroom ( that one corner gave me the hibbigibeis) the toilet seat was broken , everything in the bathroom was broken and dirty , then my charger fell in the space which is between the bathroom glass and the bed, got down to retrieve it and i decided it was best to just a get a new charger instead. The place if cleaned and cared for would be an amazing hotel apartment, it has great amenities , a washing machine a fridge and a drying rack if you upgrade to a bigger room, a kitchenette that would be great if you are interested in cooking and staying longer and it’ has an Aldi downstairs, a gym and lots of other great places surrounding it . I really hope the owners would read this and take it into consideration and carry out serious supervision or else their property will lose value, The hygiene of the hotel does not only ensure the health and wellness of the visitors who sleep in those walls but also keeps the property value up. Dirt And filth only brings it down and puts the health of others at risk . I really hope they change standards.
