First time staying at this hotel. Had to top up a little to get a room with a view, but it was definitely worth it. Nothing like waking up to the view of Shanghai Pearl and Huangpu River everyday. Located at The Bund, hotel had a classic feel. Room was spacious and comfortable, and toilet comes with Japanese style bidet and seat warmer. Also includes complimentary minibar with Jagermeister, which was good for the cold weather. Hotel was generous with water, which was readily available at the lift lobby area at our floor. Only thing lacking in the room was probably the absence of hooks for towel and clothes in the toilet, a minor inconvenience. Hotel breakfast had a wonderful and delicious spread, including red and white wine. Did not get tired even after 3 consecutive days. Would recommend this hotel for those that like staying on The Bund but be prepared to pay for it.

As a couple who has lived in Shanghai together for almost 10 years, with one of us also Shanghainese, we have been to a lot of the best places in Shanghai, and some of the more recommended places in about 20 cities in the broader nearby area. Nothing in the city or within several hours of high-speed rail compares to a stay at Ritz-Carlton Pudong. In Asia and indeed the planet, this impeccable hotel experience stands as an iconic example of old-world elegance and service. In addition, it also offers a unique view of both some of the most modern and tallest buildings and the city’s famed Bund riverside, home to a variety of art deco architectural masterpieces. We had the incredible good fortune to start our honeymoon at the Ritz in Pudong, and this last stay was our last honeymoon treat. As always, it was a spectacular experience that we cannot recommend enough. The most extraordinary part of the stay really is the staff, they are all world class people who go above and beyond to make the Ritz-Carlton Pudong such an exceptional institution in one of the world’s leading cities. Sincere thanks to the whole team for making this happen, including Cherryl, who made reservation delightfully effortless, Chris who helped us to our room, and Joey and Ruby who helped in the evening. Special and heartfelt thanks to the whole team who make the Club Lounge experience world beating: Eddie and Junita, who both lead by example, have a deep passion for the details that create excellence, as well as being just the nicest people. They are both incredibly inspiring leaders and professionals. Claire is generally excellent there but also was phenomenally helpful to get a bag back when it was left behind, we really apricated that. Jeramy and Vivian also are amazing, as are Club Lounge’s chef’s Joe and Austin. Sherry is a real star, attentive, sharp and so helpful. Last but not least, Helen, who was the first person to greet us after we got married, and fittingly the last person to help us create personalised room key cards with our wedding photo on it, and most recently a special photo of family from our honeymoon. Those keycards are really cool keepsakes, but making them is not as simple as you might think: the image is etched into the key, not printed, so the original photo needs to be translated by AI into an image that the etching system is capable of delivering, which is really impressive. When I showed my mom who lives very far away, even she was impressed with Helen’s work. Ordinarily we prioritise new experiences over more of the same, regardless of how comfortable and nice it is. But regardless of how hard we try, we have not been able to figure out a better way to celebrate our biggest moments than a stay at the Ritz in Pudong.

I went with my 4-year olds and my mom. The executive suite has the ample space for my kids to play around and a decent view of Pudon. We were welcomed with a bowl of fruit and a personal note from Alexander. But, i must say that the superb customer service started prior to coming in. A day before we checked in, I got a call from Elio asking me if there is any request regarding my trip the next day. I just requested for a few stuff for my kids, which they delivered upon checking- in. The two points that we really liked in our stay was the customer service and the tasty food of breakfast in “the cook”. My kids had cereals, noodles with soup, sausages, and yogurt. Personally, i like the salad bar and the freshly baked pastries. All in all, it was a Christmas trip that my kids loved because the lobby gave off a holiday vibe where we took pictures too.

Laajenna sydämeni kiitos Juudea hänen sitoutuminen ei mennyt huomaamatta ja teki stressaava tilanne paljon helpompaa hallita. Haluan kiittää erityisesti Waldorf Astorian juutalaista. Vaikka oli jo 12 aamulla, hän oli yhä kärsivällinen ja aloitteellinen auttamaan minua käsittelemään väärän osoitteen paketteja, palvelua ammattimaisesti ja intiimi. Tämä ahkeruus oli minulle syvästi liikuttunut ja heijastanut täysin hotellin korkeatasoisia palveluja. Muita konsernin jäseniä tehtiin myös apua matkatavaroiden kanssa. On vain valitettavaa, etten voi saada ******* ruokalähetystä hotellin henkilöstön suoraan huoneeseeni. Tämä oli epämukavaa, mutta ymmärrän elintarvikkeiden ja hygienian näkökohtia, joita ne pitävät. I stayed in many 5 star hotels. Shanghai Peninsula is a different kind. They pay much attention to every detail. It's above being clean, considerate and well managed. It's a true high end hotel beyond star rating. Every person serves there are well trained. You can see that they love their jobs.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding my recent stay at your hotel. The room I received was completely inconsistent with the photos and description shown during my online booking. I specifically booked a red-themed twin room with a central Bund view, and I even informed the hotel in advance that I preferred a high floor. However, upon arrival, I was assigned a room on the 8th floor, with a yellow-themed design and an edge-side view. From this room, two-thirds of the view was blocked by buildings, and only a small portion of the river could be seen — and even that was only visible when standing close to the window. The Oriental Pearl Tower view was almost entirely hidden. When I raised this issue with the staff, they denied any discrepancy and claimed that the only twin rooms available were in the yellow design, which clearly contradicts the photos shown during booking. I paid extra to upgrade to a Bund view, and it is unacceptable that I was initially placed in a room with such a limited and obstructed view. Only after I became very firm with my complaint did the staff agree to change my room to a double room with the proper central Bund view. This entire process wasted over one hour of my time, involved unnecessary waiting, and demonstrated poor service handling, especially for a hotel that claims to be five-star.

The Grand Central Hotel Shanghai is located next to Nanjing road so it’s very central. The decoration of the hotel looks a bit outdated which lots of golden colors and palm trees in the lobby. Upon my arrival the concierge staff helped to take out my luggage from the car and as we were walking inside he wanted to store my luggage and telling me that check in was at 2pm. I arrived at 12pm. I told him I will go to the reception first and brought my luggage with me. The receptionist checked my booked and said the room isn’t ready and asked me to wait. As I was very tired I asked how long I need to wait and he said until 2pm. I asked if I could perhaps double check at 1 pm and he said ok. I checked again at 1pm and the room wasn’t ready. Finally I got the room at about 1:40. The room size was good and the maintenance of the room was ok although a bit worn out but the decoration looks very outdated and makes the room look more old. Moreover, they had some old brochures in the room which doesn’t really apply to today’s needs such as an old Shanghai yellow pages catalogue etc. Furthermore, there was two bottles of water in the room with tags and on the tag it was clearly stated that only two bottles of water is provided per day per room and additional water bottles will be charged at 10RMB per bottle. I think this makes the hotel seem stingy, supposedly stating that it’s a five star hotel. Haven’t encountered this at hotels with lower star ratings that I stayed at. Another issue was that the HBO channel on the TV didn’t work and that was the only foreign channel on the tv for movies so perhaps international travelers wouldn’t have much to watch. My stay was so so.. the most positive aspect being the central location.

Hotelli on hyvällä paikalla ja henkilökunnan palveluasenne on erittäin hyvä, erityisesti Iris, joka otti minuun yhteyttä etukäteen kysyäkseen, tarvitsinko apua. Hän auttoi minua myös nopeasti ratkaisemaan pienen ongelman sisäänkirjautumisen yhteydessä! Aamiainen on myös runsas, tuotteet ovat hyviä ja ravintolaympäristö on mukava.
