"Hotel is approximately 10mins walk from Zermatt train station. There is a bus stop to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car station about 4mins away from the hotel, very convenient. The hotel gave us a free upgrade during our stay and the view from the balcony was amazing! The pool and sauna facility looked great but didnt had a chance to try. Highly recommend this hotel going to Zermatt!"

"The location was excellent, just near Zermatt Bahnhof and easily accessible from most places. The room came with a balcony overlooking the mountains, offering a stunning view — we even watched black neck sheep while enjoying our dinner and coffee.
The stay was comfortable overall, though note that no amenities like toothbrushes or shavers were provided. Breakfast offered a decent spread of continental options with limited hot food, but the croissants were especially commendable."

"The room was small but cosy, though the value didn’t match the price. It was uncomfortably hot despite our attempts to adjust the temperature, affecting our overall comfort. Breakfast was simple and could be improved. However, John was professional and provided excellent service, which was a highlight of our experience. While there were positives, the stay didn’t fully meet expectations."

"Lovely stay! Got the matterhorn view suite and it was so beautiful! The receptionist was also very helpful with guiding us with what we can do at Zermatt!
However, need to take note that their reception will only be there till 10pm. It’s actually stated but I didn’t read it so when I arrived Zermatt train station at 11pm, I panicked a little. We flag down the taxi at my own cost, 18chf for 3 people and luggages, they dont provide free taxi after 10pm. Also, the entrance door will be closed/locked after 10pm, we rang the bell and the door opened and they left the key with a letter on the counter for the check in.
The breakfast place is also overlooking the Matterhorn and it’s so pretty. Stayed for only 1 night but really enjoyed my stay there!"

"I had an amazing stay at this place! The location was perfect—close to the city center, public transportation, local shops, and restaurants. The apartment was clean, well-decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like complimentary coffee, luxury toiletries, and a guidebook with local tips.
The host was an excellent host, providing clear communication and quick responses to any questions we had. They even left a welcome basket and gave us great restaurant recommendations.

we stayed 3 nights and were luckily blessed with 1 day of clear whether at the top of the mountains.
2 ways to walk to the hotel from train station, the shorter one that google will tell u includes a steep climb (difficult if you have luggages in tow).
the easier and better walk will just be to keep going straight, turn left at the matterhon musuem / church junction, and from there just a short gradual stretch to reach the hotel. very doable even with kids and luggage ."

IIzzaPizzaThoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The excellent service rendered by the staff made our honeymoon much sweeter. Everyone was friendly, kind and always willing to help. Room was really nice and the extra sauna and open concept bathtub was a nice surprise! Breakfast spread was super delicious as well. Facilities like the wellness area include foot bath, infrared chairs, jacuzzi etc.

HHarmonickFor a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!

During my stay, a snowstorm caused a power outage and all train services were suspended, making it impossible to leave the town. Despite these unexpected circumstances, the hotel took excellent care of us. They provided helpful information, allowed us to extend our stay without any additional charges, and showed incredible kindness throughout.
The hotel owner was especially warm and accommodating, making a difficult situation much easier for us. I truly appreciated their hospitality and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zermatt.

Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable.
Very near the zermatt train station, just opposite of Macdonald’s.
Breakfast had a good selection.
Housekeeping would check in on you and offer free chocolates.
The only feedback I have is the room didn’t provide English instructions on how to dial the concierge so I had to walk down to request for items.

VVieraskäyttäjäKristiane checked us in, and out of the hotel. She's the most attentive person so far that I've met, among the hotels that I have stayed in. Not only that, she got our issues fixed within the day, with a good sense of humour. The hotel breakfast was above average, some selection of cheeses, ham, salami, yoghurt, and drinks dispensed from the machine. I chose this hotel as it was close to Zermatt Bahnhof, and I did not regret it. A relatively new hotel, with a faint smell of wood in the room. The heating in the room can be a wee bit stronger, it means the insulation is good while we tuned down the central heating throughout our stay when the external temp is subzero. It's a gorgeous hotel, I have a narrow window view of the Matterhorn. Not to mention that the hotel is right next to McDonald's and two coffee shops. Overall, it was a splendid experience for us staying at Derby. If you were guessing, this isn't a sponsored review. We were just very happy travellers.

VVieraskäyttäjäI wish to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Hotel Bistrols from Dec 16 to Dec 17.
During my stay, I experienced an incident that left me quite unsettled. Around 20 mins after my check-in to the hotel, another group of tourists (think was a couple) was able to use hotel access card to access my room, we, both parties are shocked and super embarrassed. This situation raised significant concerns about the security protocols in place at the hotel. As a guest, I expect a certain level of safety. If the room was accidentally opened without my presence, I am not sure whether my belongings are going to disappear, this situation made me had just a light sleep throughout the whole stay.
The lack of adequate security measures not only compromised my sense of safety but also made me question the overall management of the hotel. In an age where guest security is paramount, I believe that Hotel Bistrols should prioritize ensuring that all rooms are properly secured and that guests feel safe throughout their stay.
A point to add is that the receptionist has poor attitude towards her service. The whole experience which I would not consider to give this hotel another try in future.
I hope that the hotel will take my concerns seriously and address these issues for future guests.

LLyanne92The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from the train station, which is very convenient. However, check-in needs to be done at another hotel located behind this one, which can be a bit confusing at first. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Please note that the hotel entrance is accessed via a long and slippery staircase. Guests traveling with large or heavy luggage, elderly travelers, or those with mobility issues should take extra care.
The room is very small and the soundproofing is quite poor, especially in the bathroom,even turning around can be a challenge.As the hotel faces the road, there is no view of the Matterhorn.
Overall, the stay was acceptable and reasonable for a short stay.

NNYTravelsWe love the hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. The view from the balcony of our room gave us a clear view of the Matterhorn. The hotel is easily accessible from the Zermatt train station and the Town centre .
We loved the room allocated and found it extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast buffet which was pretty extensive.
Staff was really pleasant and helpful at all time. Our receptionist even escorted us to the room by stairs because their lift was not functional when we checked in.
The only regret was that we were unable to utilise the sauna and swimming pool facilities due to time constraints.
Will highly recommend the hotel to those who are looking for value for money stays whilst in Zermatt.
