"This is a perfect spot in Nagano if you want to take a break before heading to other parts such as Hakuba for skiing . It is literally right at the station and connected via MIDORI where you can buy groceries and with lots of restaurants.
Due to fight delay, we arrived late at night at around 10pm. MIDORI shops were all closed but ht path to hotel still open and we can still find plenty of cafes nearby.
It has reserved Alpico bus to Hakuba right at hotel or you may go to the regular bus stop at bus station 26 for higher frequency of bus service.
Will definitely stay here again if we need to stop over at Nagano. Though the hotel is not new, it’s spacious and clean enough for a comfortable stay ."

"The hotel is really well situated, less than 10 minutes from the JR station, and on the same street as the Shrine, so there were lots of places to eat nearby. I stayed in a dorm, which had more people than I expected for a room (I think I saw at least 60 bed/lockers) so it was quite loud even at night as people kept walking in and out. The actual bed was fine, and the people at the front took their time to walk me through what to know for the hostel. The lounge is a little awkwardly partitioned, but at least you get a space to use if you need food.
The dorm itself, I think has a little too many people to be comfortable but is clean enough. The lights never turn off, but because you have a curtain, it blocks out most of it. The largest issue is the noise, since people are coming in and out at random times of the night, and the buttons to open the door are also quite loud when you're trying to sleep. If you want ear plugs, they have them for a fee at the front. Nagano overall was very nice though, and the location made it a lot easier to get around."

"On hyvä aika viettää yötä tässä hotellissa. Pieni kaukana Nagano asemasta (15min kävely) 800m - 1km. Mutta se kaupataan hintaan. Hinta on paljon halvempaa kuin yksi 200-300m etäisyys Nagano asemasta. Meillä on jopa hierontatuoli huoneessamme, ja se on melko iso. Huone on kaksinkertainen makuuhuone ja nukuimme hyvin.

"Room was extremely worth it's pricing with the cleanliness and you could feel the exquisiteness of the hotel from entering through the main doors all the way to your room.
Walking distance to multiple interesting areas such as Zenkoji Temple and very pretty eateries around the area.
1 extremely disturbing thing was whereby 1 of the huge mirrors by the make up table was right infront of our beds which made my family and I have a paranoid night stay. Other wise everything was top tier!"

"This was a last minute selection on the train from Tokyo, but the right one. It's a short 5 minute walk from the Nagano station and has spacious rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful, but best of all, on arrival you are given a welcome drink and dessert of your choice. The entire place seems to be obsessed with desserts, to my liking. They also provides free ice cream and upon check out, bags of candy and cookies. Maybe it's a Christmas promotion, but a welcome surprise. The breakfast is a bit expensive, but has a nice selection of food choices, including salmon, more desserts, and various Japanese food. I only stayed one night, but I believe they have an onsen and other amenities. Well worth it. I stayed in other hotels in Nagano, and this one was superior."

"Tokyu Rei hotel is conveniently located right across the street from Nagano station. The rooms are of a good enough size for a short stay for a couple, single, or family with young kids. The beds are comfortable and the room clean. If staying a night or two to experience the Snow Monkey Park and the city of Nagano and it's surroundings, it's a good option. It's within walking distance of Zenjiko shrine, which is large and free to enter. The station is right across the street and offers many restaurants and a grocery store. For convenience, it's a good option."

KkahlaiA well managed hotel. It is located just 8 min walk from Nagano Station and 3min walk from Alpico customer service office that sells bus tickets to various attractions.
Efficient check in/ out process. Staff ranging from front desk to drivers were professional and polite.
Though the room was relatively smaller than other Toyoko inns, it was clean and well equipped. Good range and supply of amenities.
Breakfast quality and food range were nice. Complimentary DIY luggage locker was convenient.

AAnacrvcostaI had a very positive experience at Hotel New Nagano Next. Even though we only stayed for one night, everything went smoothly. The hotel offers one of the most complete selections of amenities I’ve seen, which was a pleasant surprise.
The staff was genuinely kind and helpful, although their English skills were a bit limited. Despite this, communication wasn’t an issue, and they did their best to assist us.
I’d definitely consider booking this hotel again without hesitation. A solid choice for anyone visiting Nagano!

The hotel’s location is about 10mins drive from Nagano’s JR station. The resort is opened to public and hotel guests share the facility. There are a variety of Onsen pools both indoor and outdoor. A very different experience totally.
Staff are friendly though only one or two did their best for English speaking tourist like me.
We booked the Shinyi room.

Hhargowsiewmai1. Parking - Parking is behind the hotel, and they will check your booking and give you a parking chit (駐車券). The person manning the parking situation doesn't inform you beforehand that you have to bring this chit to the lobby for check in. We left it on the dashboard as we thought it indicates that we can park here. If you're travelling with alot of baggage, it can get pretty inconvenient as you will have to walk one round around the hotel for accessible routes to avoid a flight of stairs.
2. Check in procedure - 三條-san was helping us with the check in. Did not feel welcomed, and everything just felt routined and mechanical. This was still acceptable. When it came to asking for the parking chit, we said we left it on the dashboard and whether we could return later to show it to him. We were really not informed that we had to bring it to the reception. 三條-san's face immediately showed a face of disgust and annoyance, and he mildly rolled his eyes too in displeasure. My partner immediately ran to the car to get it for him there and then. This was pretty shocking to me as I did not expect Japanese hospitality to be this rude and nobody mentioned to us to bring the chit to the reception. He could have been more patient and handled it more professionally.
We were also unaware at the time of making a hotel reservation that you have to book a breakfast slot at the time of your check in. We checked in at around 7pm, and we were only left with the 6am or 6:30am breakfast slot. This felt very restrictive as everyone has different waking habits or plans for the next day (Felt like we were back in school). You were also restricted to 50 minutes duration at breakfast. Having to change my plan entirely just because of this restriction felt ridiculous. Would I get a refund of the cost of the breakfast if I can't make it for any of the breakfast timings? If this was made known at the point of the hotel reservation, I might have reconsidered as the slots for the more human timings seem to get snatched up really quickly. All in all, the check in progress was pleasant and 三條-san was a huge reason for it. I will recommend future visitors to avoid him if you see that there are other staff manning the reception desk.
3. The J floor rooms were lovely. Clean, decent size, filled with amenities and complimentary drinks even those in the fridge. The hotel room itself was lovely compared to what happened in the lobby.
4. Breakfast - Despite being left with the ridiculously early breakfast slots, breakfast spread was great. Wide range of food and if you get a window seat, you have a good view of the city.

Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

AAnton VoroshilinThis is an extremely cosy place, but I would not dare describe it as luxurious. It is dated and simple, with the most basic amenities.
However, I liked it a lot. The best part about this ryokan is its owner, an elderly man. He truly puts his heart and soul into his establishment. He even suggested to give us a ride to the station, however the weather was nice and we decided to walk instead.
I'd like to highlight the breakfast: it was gorgeous, given the price. I'd even say it tasted better than a ¥3000 dinner I had at some local restaurant.
The whole experience felt like visiting your grandparents, who live in a village, during the summer.

AAnonyymi käyttäjäThe room was very nice - sufficiently large and with all necessary amenities (even a small fridge). The room was clean and in good condition. The staff was very kind and stored my luggage for free, as I arrived early in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located, yet in a rather quiet place. It's a walking distance from both Nagano station and Zenkoji temple (approximately 20-25 minutes), however, do note that the nearest bus stop is about 900 meters away, so if you got a lot of luggage and do not intend to get a taxi, that may be a bit far. They also have coin operated washing machines and dryers, in case you need them. Overall, a great option for most travelers, especially in terms of value for money.

AAnonyymi käyttäjäVery good location, just opposite the train station. Reception is on level 2, but staff is helpful to help carry luggages to and fro ground floor.
Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries.
Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day.
Water was not provided complimentary to customers but instead was earned through a game.

Aastro.sergiuThis is a truly authentic experience! Cosy, with traditional furniture and bed, whilst still offering very comfortable options it's the best of both worlds. Plus, the view is among the best in town and the breakfast is authentic and charming. It was a beautiful experience to say here and the fact the hosts did not speak English actually added to the experience. I'd be sure to visit again next time I'm in Nagano.
