"The hotel is very near Nikko station. The staff are friendly and very accomodating. The room is small, but for an overnight stay, the size was sufficient. Booking includes simple breakfast (or bread, coffee, boiled egg, salad) which is good enough. There is also a large supermarket near the hotel. You can also leave your luggage at the self-storage room of the hotel - very convenient. Our room also have a very nice view of the mountains. I would recommend this hotel."

"I had a wonderful stay! The room was very clean and comfortable, with fresh air and a relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the private onsen it was such a peaceful and refreshing experience. Everything was perfect, and I truly enjoyed my time here. Highly recommended!"

"Nikko Station hotel Classic located at a strategic location:-👍 (a) opposite its hotel ( cross the zebra crossing) is the entrance of JR Nikko Station 🚉 ( JR Nikko line 💚) -5-8mins walk (2) clean n neat modern Japanese bed with rather big bathroom (3) morning breakfast is at level one with 24hrs coffee n tea vending machine besides for hotel guests . Hotel guests can enjoy their slow slipping of coffee ☕️ n private chats at private area besides. (4) hotel breakfast is simple but its sufficient for both of us. We simply love to enjoy a big warm bowl of curry rice with hard boiled eggs 🥚 🥚 n some bread 🍞 n toasts. (5) Simply falls in love with its Sukura restaurant its Tempura Don. very delicious 😋👍 although its small . (6) Hotel is conveniently located along a long stretch of shopping streets with another Railway station ( Tohoku station 🚉) nearby. (7) Hotel is very near to Local bus-stop , local buses ,tourist heritage buses n stations."

"Standard exterior and interior design of Fairfield Hotels in all around Japan, that is guest friendly and more sustainable, no gym, restaurant and bar but you can cook frozen food by microwave. Room is not big but good enough for sleeping and rest. Their idea is offering rest place for people likes hiking and natural trails."

"I want to thank hosts of Akari no yado personally. The hosts were nice and worked really hard to feel ourselves at home. The place was clean and the common room was big and comfortable. Bathroom was old fashioned but if you want modern bathrooms you were able to use the bath house for showers and toilets in the common area. Breakfast is made of pastries and all I had was pretty delicious. You can also have marmalade and margarine with breakfast pastries and there are drinks (tea/coffee/milk/juice) to choose from. We checked out early and hosts prepared our breakfast to go even if it wasn’t breakfast time yet. They even drove us to the station when we asked if they would be able to call us a taxi! Bath house was spacious with two different baths. System is easy and we were able to use it whenever we wanted (between 16.00-23.00 of course). They are giving free rental yukatas and they were so comfy. They also have guides everywhere to help you (our room even had a guide on how to prepare a futon bed!) the place felt like we were part of a  family and that was the most amazing part for me. I even got teary eyed when it was time to go. Thank you Akari no yado! Hope to see you soon again!"

"Was a little far from the center of Nikko and traffic started backing up all the way to this hotel. Good thing is we rented bikes and rode into town thus bypassing all the traffic. The onsen was ok and the rooms were ok too."

"The hosts were friendly and the young female assistant was helpful and polite. Location is great, near to the well-known fall and the lake is in front of the residence. Private onsen facilities are great though they are not available in the morning. Foods provided are in Western style and they are good, but not that great. Guests are reminded to tell the hosts on how to cook the steak, especially if well-done is not their preference. No elevator but many steps means you have to have strong muscle to move the heavy buggages from the car to the room."

"We were glad to stay at Nikko Toshogu Koyoen. Firstly, the service was pleasant and warm-hearted. Our Japanese-style room reservation (dinner + breakfast) was comprised of Kaiseki dinner either! (There was no notice about such a nice option when we booked the room.) The price for one night was quite reasonable (compared to other ryokans nearby). Moreover, it was the only onsen within 5 bus stops from Tobu-Nikko station (really convenient, if compared to ryokans in Kinugawa which takes one hour by train). You are also able to apply for ryokan's transfer (We were not told about the option in advance, so we used transfer the next day to get from the ryuokan to Tobu-Nikko station.) You might get the impression that the hotel is stuck in the 80s, but the service, Kaiseki, cozy rooms, and the onsen make you forget all about it."

"This ryokan was a lovely stay in Nikko. The location was the #1 feature as it is 5-10 minutes away from the popular Toshugu Shrine attraction. The breakfast and dinner meals were some of, if not the best meals that I had during my 2.5 weeks in Japan. And the service was super attentive and there are many English speaking immigrant staff. I never encountered overcrowded public onsen during my 3 day visit. I would totally stay here again for future trips to central Nikko."

"Good things: PRICE, private onsen, ok size of the room, food court right next to the hotel, hot water, ice and vending machines, microwave are available 24 hours. Not good things: location is really soso. It is 20 mins by foot from Tobu Nikko station, but up to the hill🙄 shower is surprisingly located at the balcony, have no idea, how to use it in winter. For me mattress and pillow were extremely not comfortable."
