"I really liked my stay there. I do think it may be harder for foreigners to stay here compared to possibly other options as most workers do not speak English. I found it quite hard to communicate.
However, I do recommend it and I personally would stay again. Especially as we overcame the challenges of communication and I was easily able to work with the staff. The bathroom and bed are amazing and I would love to use them again. The airport is only 10 yen away by taxi which is amazing and I honestly would come again.

Once I stepped-in the room, i directly noticed that this hotel itself can be a hotel and alsl can be a resort in terms of view from the window. Xiamen's nice weather and amazing veiw over the lake made my memories unforgettable especially in sunset so that i really had wonderful time at this hotel.
Regarding room condition, this hotel is not new hotel, but it is well-maintained and well-managed hotel so that i had no hygiene issue.
As for Breakfast, This hotel offers various selection at Breakfast buffet restaurant with tasty hot dishes.
Each section was filled with dedicated chef and they were very polite and up for anything for Hotel guest.
Overall, well-managed and organized hotel in Xiamen and hope to visit the hotel again."

"Love this hotel! Great location very close to subway station and ZhongsanLou with lots of dining choices. Room is great for families too! Very big, equipped with a mini kitchen with induction cooker, pans, utensils, a huge ref and microwave! Practically your home away from home. The breakfast also has lots of great choices! The only ”glitch” for me here is the super long wait in the elevator mid-morning due to many checkouts and breakfast rush. Fire escape stairwell is also locked so we couldnt go down, so we ended up taking the elevator up just to go down. But overall the staff are very helpful, and they even accomodated our extended checkout time."

"the scenery was gorgeous at night and in the morning,, definitely would recommend! front desk receptionist was also really helpful to us ! i bought taobao and both receptionist was very kind enough to help me find my parcel and the lady even helped me with the pick lockers because i was not a local so i did not know where it was. there are loads of food around the hotel as it was a 2-3 minutes walk away from zhongshan lu!! overall the stay in the hotel is very clean, and there was room service everyday so don’t need to worry if you make a mess. everything is provided as well and receptionist is also very kind enough to let us know about the scams that we have to be wary about! very informative and friendly personalities !! definitely recommend this hotel to those who are looking for a good hotel for an affordable price !"

"First a warning, this is not a hotel but more like an AirBnB. So if you are looking for hotel services such as a reception, lounge, breakfast, etc, it is not for you. Once you arrive you need to ask two ladies there at the entrance to contact the owners of the place to come and give you the code, etc. Rather unusual experience but it works.
Having this clear, this is a very good option for accommodation in Xiamen.
The most magnificent part is the amazing view. The same view that the 5 star Conrad hotel has next door for one fifth of the cost.
The place is ulta clean which is the second best thing. Sparking clean and very well designed room. The battub in front of the window gives you an unforgottable experience. You can open a bottle of wine or make tea and enjoy bathing looking scenery for hours.
Next thing is very good service, when I requested couple of things they came to my room rather quickly and helped with my request with a very positive attitude.
Finally, it is very good for money, the location is great for this price. You are literally next door to one of the most luxurious hotels of Xiamen. There are many dining opportunities of middle level around and you are also close to the ferry port for the Gunggu island.
Last, I want to give some recommendations to the owners: the onlyt thing i can criticse is the lack of a portable thing for hanging my clothes. The hangers on the walls were not enough. Next, it would be great if you would leave couple of tea bags and maybe also instant coffee in the room. It would cost you little and would make the guests stay in the room rather than going out for it. You can also modernise the airconditioner output. It is fine as it is but could be more aesthetic and also better controllable. A little desk (in addition to a portable dress hanger) would also make you attract business travellers.
Overall I recommend the place and I would stay here again next time."

We had a fantastic stay at the Kempinski and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The hotel is perfectly located, with a stunning view of the lake, which was especially enchanting at night. Watching the moonlight dance on the water while relaxing at the hotel was truly magical.
The staff were so warm and accommodating, but we’d like to give a special mention to Scott. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and his friendly nature really made us feel at home.
Breakfast was a real treat. The buffet had a great variety of options, and we were always excited to see what was on offer each morning. We particularly loved the apple oatmeal – it became a must-have for us during our stay!
One of the highlights of the trip was strolling around the lake together. It was so peaceful and refreshing, and the scenic walk added such a lovely touch to our mornings.

I loved this place. My first and only time in Fujian, and it was excellent. The staff were great, just fantastic, really. The breakfast was impressive- cappucino coffee available, and a huge variety of delicious foods, including congee, baked goods, noodles, soups, fruit, fish, meat and many vegetables. The room was very well arranged and modern.. Roasted tea smell in the corridorThe location can't be beat, basically in the most central of locations. Local bus we took was 1RMB! I had some great food nearby, too.

The apartment location is in good environment, going around with taxi is fair enough, however, the building itself doesn't exist on the map, only the neighbor one does, which made us difficult to find the right building when we first arrived, plus we have no idea that the check in room, is one of the room on the 5th floor, as in the address of the hotel, it just put room 501, 521 Gaolin Road, etc. I recommend to give more details to ease the check-in of the hotel description like, 'when arrive, please contact room 501 on the 5th floor to check in', also, the hotel should pin the exact building location on the map, otherwise, guests may get lost on first arrive like us, whereas people around don't speak English to help too.
The apartment itself is clean and in good condition with good space & layout. Facilities are good enough, except, the kitchen is kind of waste because there is no kitchenette at all, they only provide bottle water, glasses/paper cup & electric kettle in the kitchen, in which we expect a hotel apartment should have at least some kitchenette like tableware, cutlery, pot or pan (as they have electric stove) and at least a microwave oven & dishwashing liquid, which partly why we choose to stay in the apartment rather than normal hotel. This is one of the upset issues that we have for this stay.
The breakfast comes as McDonald's breakfast coupon consists of one small Berger & a drink, which is fine as McDonald is on the street level of the building itself.
Plus thing is that we can request for more bottle water & the disposable towel with no additional cost. Although the disposable towel is not so good to use as towel, they are still acceptable & hygienic, so, if you want more comfort, I suggest, bring your own towel. The washer works well, no dryer, but they provide hanger with drying space where there are windows open.
The nearest large shopping center, Wanda Plaza, is nearby, taxi costs only ~CNY10, where you can find lots of restaurants & Walmart, etc.
In overall, this property is good & worth of money.

I had an exceptional stay at Mercure Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, offering personalized recommendations and prompt assistance whenever needed. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully designed with modern amenities that made my stay incredibly relaxing.
The hotel’s location is perfect, offering easy access to nearby attractions. The staff also kindly gave me breakfast coupons. The breakfast was delicious and vairous. They change the menu everyday and provide the specialties of Xiamen.
Overall, my experience was nothing short of outstanding, and I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Xiamen. Highly recommend!!!

Discovering new places
Overall the room is nice but guess I had high expectations as it was written it's an international hotel. The breakfast was all Chinese nothing catered for the other customers, so much improvement is needed there. Also non of the front desk or anyone I came across in the hotel speaks English........... One good thing is the hotel is not far from the airport and the nearest subway station and bus stop is justt by the hotel. One does not need to walk far.

The hotel is situated at a very bustling shopping street area, you can get all the local foods/snacks and a great place to buy souvenirs and gifts. Beside the hotel side door is 24hr mart and Luckin coffee, very convenient. Although the hotel looks abit dated but cleanliness is still up to standard and room is spacious. Laundry room and gym is abit hectic to get to, u need to climb a flight of stairs from 2nd floor to 3rd floor ( not accessible by lift). I liked the customer services from the reception and housekeeping, they attended to our issues promptly and sincerely. We had enjoyed the stay with the hotel.

The hotel is pretty new. The room is clean and they provided the toiletries. There is housekeeping daily to clean the room but they did not make the bed. The room is equipped with smart appliance that works with voice commands to Xiao Du. There is a laundry area and guest can access to it with free of charge. However, few of the room that we booked, has problem with the flooring. The hotel quickly changed us for a new room when we complaint about the flooring that caused hazard. The breakfast is similar everyday with little choice. The hotel is at level three of the shopping mall. There is a lot of eatery shop nearby with a convenience shop opposite the hotel. In short, the location is very strategic and can access to all shops (e.g. pharmacy, lucking coffee, bread shop, milk tea shop, eatery street, and etc) at walking distance.

We arrived at the hotel at 9:45 PM on the eve of Chinese New Year. Given the late hour and festive season, we were concerned that nearby restaurants might already be closed. To our pleasant surprise, several small eateries within 50 meters of the hotel were still open, allowing us to enjoy a proper late dinner. It was a reassuring start to our stay.
The hotel’s environment is comfortable and welcoming. The lobby features a bright, clean design with warm wood tones and soft lighting that create a calm, relaxing atmosphere. A tasteful display area and cozy seating space add a subtle blend of business functionality and artistic charm. The front desk staff were professional and courteous, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient despite the late hour.
We stayed in the Premier Themed Room (Japanese Style with Sakura), which was truly one of the highlights of our trip.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a beautifully designed Japanese-inspired interior. Warm lighting, wooden flooring, and delicate sakura (cherry blossom) wall art created a serene and elegant ambiance. Wooden partition panels and subtle decorative details added refinement, giving the space an artistic yet tranquil feel — almost like a small ryokan-style retreat in the heart of Xiamen.
The room was thoughtfully designed, spacious, and impeccably clean. A charming feature was the private balcony, which allowed fresh air in.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable, dressed in crisp white linens. The mattress offered excellent support, and the pillows were soft yet supportive, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
All essential toiletries were generously provided, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental kits, slippers, and towels. Everything was neatly arranged and well-maintained, reflecting attention to guest comfort.
The complimentary breakfast was another pleasant surprise. It offered a good variety of well-prepared options, making it a satisfying way to start each day.
The location is highly convenient, close to the Xiamen International Convention & Exhibition Center, with California Plaza Shopping Mall next door offering numerous dining choices. Whether for business or leisure, the hotel is an excellent option.
Most importantly, the nightly rate was very reasonable and offered excellent value, especially considering the themed décor, balcony, full amenities, and included breakfast. The stay exceeded our expectations.
We would gladly choose this room again on our next visit.

Overall the stay is really good as the price is reasonable, location is very convenient to walking and eating street.
However, it's a bit difficult to locate as it only has a small counter in building..
The rooms are decently clean though the view is building rooftop and the water basin tap is leaking, making the room a bit wet...
U may need to bring own towel if u r not used to disposable ones..
In conclusion, it's a decent room and yes, we will stay again n recommend this homestay to others..

It's the first time I encounter staff kept telling me my room is a ”special offer” room at check in process when I didn't ask anything about the room.
She was very friendly and even offered to usher us to our room. When we exit lift at level 9, she led us to a hidden stairs behind the lift. So no wonder she has to led us because the ”special offer” room was hidden.
The wall and corridor looked different from the normal rows of rooms from lift level.
When we went in the room, we realised it's very small but didn't immediately check trip.com photos and booking details. We put our bags and left quickly for dinner.
When we returned I don't think the room matched what I booked here so I went to the counter and inform the same staff. At this moment, I understand why she kept using the words ”special offer room” when I checked in.
Advertised pictures of the room type showed several different designs but all have space for table and chair.
The room given to me only has leg space around the double bed and a low cabinet (height of stool) near the door.
Shower and toilet are in the same space which means toilet will be wet when u shower. This room is 902.
At the counter, the staff said I should have rejected the room at first glance and she doesn't have other rooms which looked more like the advertised rooms because I rejected too late.
Her colleague besides her said the hotel has many different rooms. She said my room is ”special offer room” and they don't bother to look at my phone to see trip.com photos and listed space and furniture provided.
I made the colleague look at trip.com room photos and tell me the type of room they belong to. To my horror, the staff sad those are Yi yue rooms and not yi xin.
So I asked them if they are telling me that the hotel used yi yue room photos as advertisements to sell yi xin rooms. Then she became quiet and the girl suddenly has other room for me to change.
Although the new room (also level 9) still didn't have the table and chair as per listed in trip.com booking details and photos but at least it is far more decent.
Please be careful if you have already booked this hotel!
