Excellent place to stay! Very close to the Jinan West Railway station, there are convenient stores nearby, and also restaurants. The service is excellent. The fitness room and laundry room is good. The room is spacious and more importantly their toilets have bidets!

Close to the airport, has transfer shuttle bus. Facilities quite new and modern. When taking the taxi, make sure to ask the driver to pass the gate and send you in. It’s a bit far walking from the gate.

I would like to extend my special thanks to Chu Yi at the Garden Road branch near Daming Lake in Jinan. As a foreigner on a solo business trip to China, when my phone couldn't connect to the local network, it meant I had no way to pay for anything. I couldn't buy food, couldn't get around, and was completely cut off from the outside world. I was filled with a sense of helplessness being alone in a foreign land. Upon hearing this, the hotel staff immediately contacted a nearby China Unicom service center where I could get a SIM card using my passport. The next morning, Ms. Chu Yi from the front desk, concerned about my language barrier and difficulty getting around, proactively offered to accompany me to the service center to help with the procedures. The moment my phone successfully connected to the network, what I felt was not just the restoration of a signal, but a profound sense of relief. This warmth continued throughout my entire stay: the housekeeping staff thoughtfully prepared a power adapter in my room; the restaurant staff enthusiastically recommended delicious and agreeable dishes during my meals. From Chu Yi's exceptional initiative at the front desk to the meticulous and warm service from housekeeping and the restaurant, your actions perfectly embodied the meaning of ”a home away from home.” This transcends nationality—it's all about heartfelt care. Jinan is a warm city, but Atour is even warmer. On all my future business trips to China, I will definitely choose to stay at Atour. I wish Atour and the wonderful Ms. Chu Yi all the best

The bed is very comfortable, with clean, high-quality linens that make it easy to relax after a long day. I especially liked the soft lighting and lantern-style fixtures, which create a cozy and peaceful atmosphere. The bathroom is a standout — spacious, spotless, and luxurious. The freestanding bathtub, double sinks, and modern fixtures make it feel like a spa. Everything looks well maintained and carefully designed. Storage and layout are practical, with smart use of space and stylish wooden partitions that add privacy without making the room feel closed in. Overall, the room feels quiet, clean, and upscale. The hotel is very clean and the location is amazing. It is very near the the east train station. The room charges is affordable and good.

The Hostel is within easy walking distance from the bus stand.Very well organised. Extremely clean and Tidy. Quiet and peaceful. Hostel team Very polite and helpful with my queries. Large lounge with incredible views. The hostel had all amenities as advertised. Short walking distance from Daming Lake. Had a wonderful stay of five nights. Highly recommend. I found what looked like an engorged tick or bedbug crawling up my bed. The hotel is pretty and I booked it for 1 night as a luxury treat so I could get a good rest for my layover stop to another destination. My room smelt like stale smoke unfortunately, though I had asked for non-smoking. I paid extra on my booking for breakfast and had to wake up at 6am, eat breakfast at 6.30am and go to the airport at 7.20am. My room had a bathtub so I took a bath before bedtime and went to bed at midnight, I got up to go switch the lamp off at 1am and found this bug crawling up the side of my bed going towards me. I think it's either a tick or a bed bug, the body was full of blood. It had 6 or 8 legs, difficult to see but I took a video which doesn't allow me to upload. I don't have any problems with normal bugs such as spiders, but if it is a tick or bedbug it is a big problem. I was really worried there were more hiding inside the bed, I called reception for help and they looked at the bug which I caught in a glass cup. They apologised deeply and changed my room, so I had to move at 1.30am. I explained I was already tired and have to wake up early. In the new room I was unable to sleep as I kept worrying about bed bugs. I got up multiple times to check my bed. And there was a noisy couple next door talking loudly until very late so I couldn't sleep. For a luxury hotel you should not need to loose a whole night's sleep because you are worried about bedbugs or ticks biting you. Nor should be able to hear noise from other guests through the wall. I was extremely exhausted the next day and did not have any appetite. I asked if they could refund the extra I paid for breakfast because I couldn't eat it, but they said it wasn't possible. So I forced myself to try eat 1 egg and some small rice porridge but couldn't finish it. Really expensive to pay for breakfast and hardly eat, it's a shame they couldn't refund the breakfast considering I had no sleep. For a 5* hotel, I would like to have good rest and peaceful sleep. But it was not like that. The staff were very kind and helpful, but it's not so easy to travel here alone. It was not easy to book a taxi for the following morning to the airport and it took 40 minutes of assistance, the man was very kind and helpful, but the hotel should make an easier system for foreign guests to book taxi. When I first arrived in Jinan airport, I had no idea how to get to the hotel. There is no ATM inside the hotel so you cannot withdraw cash, and you cannot pay with foreign card to book a taxi. The shangri-la website did not provide any details for public transport. It simply said bus transfer was available but did not say which number bus. I would give the details here but I have forgotten the route name and bus number now as it was hectic and I was very tired, sorry. I had to waste a lot of time trying to ask for help at the airport as the staff did not speak English. Luckily someone helped me. The bus will cost 20yuan and take you into the centre where you will see the intercontinental hotel and a large shopping mall on the left side of the bus, get off at that stop, it takes 1 hour. From there it's only 5 minutes walk to shangri-la. For a big hotel they should provide easy instructions on the website to guests. The staff apologised deeply for the bug on the bed, and offered 10% reduction of the room rate. Although when I checked out no refund was given and they didn't mention anything about it, I think they just charged full price. Personally I think 10% is not enough anyway. Nobody wants to change rooms at 1.30am because of bugs crawling on the bed. I didn't get any sleep at all and felt itchy because I kept thinking about bugs and couldn't eat the breakfast. I was absolutely exhausted the following day so I was unable to do anything at my next destination and had to waste 1 day more to rest. Unfortunately not an easy experience at the shangri-la.

Honest Review of The Madison Hotel, Jinan – Good but Not 4-Star Standard According to Trip.com’s grading system, The Madison Hotel is listed as a Trip Plus 4-star hotel, but based on our recent stay, we believe it falls short of that rating. While we had a mostly pleasant experience, there were noticeable issues that prevent us from agreeing with the 4-star classification. The Positives - Check-in & Staff: The reception team was friendly, and one staff member could communicate a little in English, which was helpful. - Room Comfort: Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well and allowed individual adjustment. - Amenities: We appreciated the complimentary bottled waters and two soft drinks restocked daily in the fridge. - Location: The hotel is conveniently located inside Wanda Mall, making shopping and dining easily accessible. The Negatives (Why It’s Not 4-Star) - Cleanliness Issues: The room wasn’t cleaned to a 4-star (or even 3-star) standard. We found nail clippings on the bedside mat, indicating poor vacuuming. - Shower Water Pressure: The water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was inconvenient. - Breakfast Limitations: While the Asian food options were good, there were very few Western choices. Additionally, the Western cutlery felt sticky and wasn’t properly cleaned. - Staff Sleeping at Reception: On our second morning, when we tried to check out early, the reception staff were asleep on the couches. We understand they may have been exhausted, but this is unprofessional for a 4-star hotel. Final Verdict The Madison Hotel is a decent option, but we’d rate it as a solid 3-star hotel, not 4-star. If you prioritize location and comfort over luxury service and cleanliness, it’s a reasonable choice. However, management should address housekeeping and staff training to meet higher standards. Would we stay again? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations. Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) – Good, but not 4-star.
