Stayed in this hotel repeatedly but this time the breakfast experience was terrible. As the hotel was fully booked with a group of students the restaurant was not well prepared for such a huge amount of guests eating at the same time. As a result food was out of stock, no seating/table available. Service was not able to clean up in time

Housekeeping people are very nice. Huge hotel for attending the conference. The room is fine. Bed is comfortable. But it’s not very convenient, no restaurants, convenient stores, etc. nearby. Need to walk 20 mins to a mall. No clock in the room, the refrigerator is not cold, the weighing scale is old style, barely see the numbers.

This place was exceptional! The room was new, modern, clean, and bed very comfortable. There was a language barrier (no English by staff), however staff went out of their way to help in any way, and were happy to use translator apps to communicate. The location is right outside the ancient town, and very handy. All complimentary passes advertised with room were available exactly as advertised. The complimentary breakfast was brought directly to my room at my preferred time and it was fantastic! Having never been here before, I now can’t wait to stay here again next year!

What a wonderful homestay hotel, one of the favourites we have stayed in for a long while. The village is small and charming, very peaceful and relaxing to stay in. You can hear the sounds of the birds all day. One advantage of staying at least a night is you can get up earlier and hike to the top of the pagoda and see the birds. The courtyard hotel is beautiful and run extremely well by a lovely family who provided wonderful hospitality and made some delicious food. I'd certainly recommend staying in this hotel and I hope to return again in the future.

Clean modern hotel, large size room, breakfast reasonable, but all of this is meaningless when the room was like an oven and the air con not only didn’t work, but the cold setting kept automatically jumping back up to 25 degrees and actually warming the room. The main purpose of booking a hotel is somewhere to sleep for the night, and when it is way too hot too sleep, then that is a major drawback!

Well located within walking distance to the Jinan west high speed rail. Staff was friendly and helpful in recommending dinner options in the vicinity. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was sufficiently stocked and food was ok. Checkout was a breeze.

I found what looked like an engorged tick or bedbug crawling up my bed. The hotel is pretty and I booked it for 1 night as a luxury treat so I could get a good rest for my layover stop to another destination. My room smelt like stale smoke unfortunately, though I had asked for non-smoking. I paid extra on my booking for breakfast and had to wake up at 6am, eat breakfast at 6.30am and go to the airport at 7.20am. My room had a bathtub so I took a bath before bedtime and went to bed at midnight, I got up to go switch the lamp off at 1am and found this bug crawling up the side of my bed going towards me. I think it's either a tick or a bed bug, the body was full of blood. It had 6 or 8 legs, difficult to see but I took a video which doesn't allow me to upload. I don't have any problems with normal bugs such as spiders, but if it is a tick or bedbug it is a big problem. I was really worried there were more hiding inside the bed, I called reception for help and they looked at the bug which I caught in a glass cup. They apologised deeply and changed my room, so I had to move at 1.30am. I explained I was already tired and have to wake up early. In the new room I was unable to sleep as I kept worrying about bed bugs. I got up multiple times to check my bed. And there was a noisy couple next door talking loudly until very late so I couldn't sleep. For a luxury hotel you should not need to loose a whole night's sleep because you are worried about bedbugs or ticks biting you. Nor should be able to hear noise from other guests through the wall. I was extremely exhausted the next day and did not have any appetite. I asked if they could refund the extra I paid for breakfast because I couldn't eat it, but they said it wasn't possible. So I forced myself to try eat 1 egg and some small rice porridge but couldn't finish it. Really expensive to pay for breakfast and hardly eat, it's a shame they couldn't refund the breakfast considering I had no sleep. For a 5* hotel, I would like to have good rest and peaceful sleep. But it was not like that. The staff were very kind and helpful, but it's not so easy to travel here alone. It was not easy to book a taxi for the following morning to the airport and it took 40 minutes of assistance, the man was very kind and helpful, but the hotel should make an easier system for foreign guests to book taxi. When I first arrived in Jinan airport, I had no idea how to get to the hotel. There is no ATM inside the hotel so you cannot withdraw cash, and you cannot pay with foreign card to book a taxi. The shangri-la website did not provide any details for public transport. It simply said bus transfer was available but did not say which number bus. I would give the details here but I have forgotten the route name and bus number now as it was hectic and I was very tired, sorry. I had to waste a lot of time trying to ask for help at the airport as the staff did not speak English. Luckily someone helped me. The bus will cost 20yuan and take you into the centre where you will see the intercontinental hotel and a large shopping mall on the left side of the bus, get off at that stop, it takes 1 hour. From there it's only 5 minutes walk to shangri-la. For a big hotel they should provide easy instructions on the website to guests. The staff apologised deeply for the bug on the bed, and offered 10% reduction of the room rate. Although when I checked out no refund was given and they didn't mention anything about it, I think they just charged full price. Personally I think 10% is not enough anyway. Nobody wants to change rooms at 1.30am because of bugs crawling on the bed. I didn't get any sleep at all and felt itchy because I kept thinking about bugs and couldn't eat the breakfast. I was absolutely exhausted the following day so I was unable to do anything at my next destination and had to waste 1 day more to rest. Unfortunately not an easy experience at the shangri-la.

Stayed for 3 nights, location is very convenient, right next to the subway station. Front desk staff was very friendly. Breakfast from 7am to 10am foods was ok, but some items were limited and not refilled, and no coffee provided. This hotel only has one lift, smoking are allowed in the lift made it very bad odour , too many deliveryman using this lift delivering food to the rooms, making the hotel no privacy, the room cleaning lady was very helpful and friendly. On the 3rd night at 1. 40am , all the lights in the room suddenly turned on, waking us up from sleeping , what an interesting experience for the stayed

Hotelli on puhdas, sijainti on hyvä ja palvelu on innokas. Kaksi päivää viikonloppuna käytävät matkat, maisemat ovat mukavia ja jaksoittaisia esitysohjelmia, jotka eivät ole yhteyksiä. Vaikka se on hieman kääntynyt, matkanjohtaja, pikku kaveri, hoitaa asian ajoissa, ja vastuuhenkilö seuraa koko prosessia, ja se on hyvin ratkaistu, joka on tämän matkan lämpimin paikka. Maailmanlaajuinen maisema on mukava, mutta joskus on välttämätöntä, että johtoryhmän vakavasti vastuussa on voimakasta ja pohjakykyä, jotta loma on hyvä ja kaunis. Mingwaterin antiikin kaupunki on todella hyvä loma viikonloppuna!(Harvinainen kommentti)
