This is the best hotel in Kurokawa! 1. Stuff is kindly meet you, explain everything and help as well as it possible. 2. Ryokan has 6(!) private bathes with different style. No extra payment,, no reservation. You can available status on your TV. During my staying there was at least one ready for use, no time all of them was using. 3. Water. Just perfect, has a right temperature and composition. Just put yourself into the bath and feel relaxed just since that second. 4. Rooms. Clean and fresh. 5. Open-air bath is cool to, for me a bit too hot. And I was the only one who use it during the dinner time. 6. I had only breakfast, but it is service in private room in dinner hall. Very delicious with various of dishes. 7. The hotel located at two sides of the river. Travelers could enjoy a scenic view from the bridge.

An absolutely wonderful experience.
The staff at the ryokan were incredibly polite and always ready to help with anything we needed. Upon check-in, we were provided with traditional attire, pajamas, tabi slippers, bath amenities, and a small welcome treat with matcha and coffee. We also asked at the front desk if they could give us a ride to the bus stop after check-out, and they kindly said yes, of course. 
Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. At first, we were planning to explore several other local onsens, but after experiencing the ones at the ryokan, we felt completely satisfied. There are separate baths for hotel guests (men’s and women’s), baths open to both guests and visitors (also divided by gender), as well as a private onsen. One of the onsens also has a sauna.
The traditional dinner and breakfast were both impressive—delicious and very generous in portion.
The surrounding grounds are stunning, perfect for peaceful walks. This ryokan is a bit further from the main cluster of inns, but that was exactly what we wanted—to enjoy quiet walking.
At night, our futons were laid out for us, adding to the authentic experience. The only reason I deducted one star is the very bright green light on the ceiling that stays on all night and can’t be turned off or covered. I didn’t have a sleep mask with me, and the ryokan didn’t provide one, so I had a sleepless night. It was quite unpleasant.
That said, I still highly recommend this ryokan—it’s an unforgettable place to stay.

The resort location is accessible actually by bus from tateno 立野 station and the last bus is in the evening you may check the timetable online. We did not drive and leaving the accommodation is less convenient because all taxis were booked out but the staff was very friendly as to driving us to the nearby train station to continue our journey to Aso Volcano. Service was good. The private onzen was amazing and we were able to use it for one hour. The public bath was good too but the amenities they provided inside were not as enough, eg they don't have comb for ladies and make up removing pads. Other than that, cleanliness was amazing and staff were friendly, rooms had amazing Mountain View's.

I love the interior of this resort. The staff members are really friendly and helpful. I had little knowledge in selecting local onsen resort, so my initial expectation was not high. Much to my surprise, I love everything this hotel has had. Facility wise everything looks brand new. The room is spacious and comfy. The public bath and indoor onsen are big and clean. As for the meals, the presentations were good and they were delicious. I have no complaint about it. Keep up with the good work. Look forward to staying there again.

よいお風呂、美味しいご飯。よい休暇を過ごすことができました。日の出が見られる場所を調べていただき、目一杯阿蘇観光を楽しむことができました。 2部制の夕食時の重なる時間帯はあまりに騒がしく、びっくりしましたが、早い時間の方が退席されてからはゆったりと食事ができました。カードキーが1枚だったので2枚いただけると、男湯、女湯から戻る際に便利だと思いました。

wonderful ryokan, we had a river view from the window. delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast. totally recommend! tattoo-friendly onsen, but the showers are only on the first floor. the private outdoor rooftop onsen does not have a shower, so it’s better to shower downstairs first; otherwise, it can be quite chilly to rinse yourself outside using the buckets. there is free parking, but the street itself is very narrow and busy with pedestrians; the ryokan staff can help with parking. the staff warned us about the parking situation in advance and advised leaving the car at a free parking lot in the village center, but there were no spaces available.

總體很滿意 這家和山水木，新明館是同一個集團。 山水木和深山山莊緊鄰，在半山上，温泉源頭的位置。入住的話可以免費去山水木泡森林之湯。温泉質量超級好，湯花超級多 酒店提供免費接送服務。到達之前找攜程幫忙聯繫店家來巴士站接。第二天我們想去平野展望台，在前台比劃半天，店家直接開車送我們上去了，10分鐘車程，如果自己走的話，得一個小時，感恩！ 另外checkin的時候前台還會幫忙預訂回程巴士的車票（黑川温泉到福岡/熊本每天班次不多，以防當天沒有位置，提前預訂好班次很有必要！），這點很好 餐食的話，比隔壁山水木豐富不少。第一天晚上是懷石料理，第二天晚上是番茄豬肉火鍋。兩天早餐也都不重樣，第二天餐食還送飲料。 有個紫蘇juice推薦可以嘗試，好喝！ 房間的話，雖然也是10年老酒店了，但比起隔壁山水木的話，算新了不少。房間設施ok，第一天衞生間有點異味馬上工作人員就來處理好了。但吹風機太舊了！希望可以換一個新的

Hyvin perinteinen kuuma lähdehotelli Huone on myös perinteisen talon mukainen. Kurokawa-joella yöllä nukkuminen voi olla hieman hämmentävää niille, jotka ovat herkkiä äänille. Valitsin yhden oleskelun, kahden illallisen, perinteisen japanilaisen kaisekin. Japanilainen ruoka oli täyttävää, mutta ei herkullista Ainoa pahoitteluni on, että huoneen kuuma suihku hajosi äskettäin, koska valitsin alun perin tämän hotellin, koska siinä oli oma kylpyhuone. Mutta lennonjohtaja, Nakanishi-setä, oli erityisen mielenkiintoinen sinä yönä, toisessa kerroksessa oli riittämätön vedenpaine ja veden syöttö katkesi soitti hyvin töykeästi ja sanoi ”hetkinen”, kävin myös kylmässä suihkussa ja vesi loppui puolivälissä, joten ratkaisin asiakkaan ongelman ensin. Рекан отличный! Выбрала покой и комфорт подальше от поселка и не ошиблась . В окружении природы , тихо , номеров не много . Кому нужно сбежать от суеты , вам сюда . Номер комфортный , два собственный онсена , тоже удобно , но интересно в общих больших , оба здорово оформлены … Кухня отличная , для нас экзотика , поэтому этот опыт удовлетворил все наши ожидания . Спасибо владельцам и персоналу , все очень приветливые и внимательные . Хочется еще вернуться туда .
