"My 3rd time staying at GRIDS Premium, within walkable distance from Otaru Station and, easy access to Otaru Canal, clean and cozy room with Onzen at top floors, for sure will come back again!"

"My first visit to Otaru was truly unforgettable, all thanks to my experience at this wonderful hotel! Located just a pleasant 20-minute drive from Otaru Station, the hotel is nestled in a tranquil, private area that feels like stepping into a captivating wonderland. I was delighted to discover a bus stop right across from the hotel, making it effortlessly convenient to explore the surroundings. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly by name, and they were incredibly helpful with our luggage. Taking off our shoes upon entering the hotel created a feeling of comfort and cleanliness that made us feel right at home. After a smooth check-in process, during which they confirmed our breakfast time, the staff graciously guided us through the hotel, sharing helpful information about opening hours for various amenities. Our room was beautifully adorned in traditional Japanese style, complete with an open-air bath. Enjoying this serene experience during the winter was simply magical! We also savored a delectable Kaiseki dinner in our room, which was not only a feast for our taste buds but also left us delightfully satisfied. The onsens were a real highlight, featuring an adjacent sauna. With daily alternating access for women and men every other day, we were able to enjoy both during our stay. Families will find this hotel exceptionally accommodating, thanks to its variety of playrooms and relaxation spaces catering to guests of all ages. Plus, the complimentary refreshments and bar in the lobby until 10 PM added a lovely touch to our experience. Breakfast was a true delight, with a peaceful view of the snow outside the restaurant, enhancing the serene atmosphere. On our departure day, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a shuttle bus to take us to the JR station, making our exit seamless and convenient. Looking back, our only regret is that we stayed just one night—I can't wait to return and immerse myself in a different season's beauty. This hotel is now firmly on my list for future visits, and I’m already looking forward to the next adventure!"

"We always stayed at this hotel when we visited Otaru as we enjoyed the large spacious room and the amenities were great (we love the set of toiletries and Nespresso machine). It is part of the mega wingbay shopping centre and the supermarket can be accessed internally from the hotel lobby up to midnight, which we appreciate especially during winter season. The mountain view room also has a beautiful view during winter time."

"Hotel room is new and clean. Breakfast have variety of food, we enjoyed so much and happy with the breakfast. Advise to check in earlier to get your preferable time slot, they control it by every half an hr, you need to choose your bf slot for the next day. Not very close to Otary Station but still walking distance, not too bad actually only like 7 mins walk. Very near to Canal, we start the day at Canal and ended in Music Box Meseum. Overall enjoy the stay, we rest well and had good sleep here."

"The hotel has the historic charm with modern comfort in a great location. It us just a short walk to Otaru Canal and LeTAO. Guests enjoy complimentary wine from 5–6:30 PM, a rooftop sitting area, and a tasty breakfast with both Japanese and Western options. A convenience store and coin parking are nearby, making the stay even more convenient. Rooms are cozy, though the pillows could be improved."

"Excellent service makes you feel like home. Hotel facilities and ambiance warms your heart. Highly recommend to stay in this hotel. Hope I can revisit this hotel in near future."

"This hotel is located at higher point of Otaru. You can enjoy the scenery, the coldness and the quietness. Do include breakfast and dinner. Dinner is very romantic if you going with yr girl friend. She will be impressed Lunch can be arranged in the town. You can arranged transport with the hotel. Not to come back late"

"I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of a shared bathroom but the description of the facilities and furnishings intrigued me. When I checked in at Little Barrel I was immediately enthralled by the uniqueness of the decorations. It was indeed a pleasure to stay here and the numerous photos I took of the place can attest to that. And the shared bathrooms that I was so concerned about? It didn’t turn out to be a problem at all. The common bathrooms are maintained at a very high level of cleanliness and equipped with the latest toilet features. So if like me, you are interested in staying in esoteric places you can give Little Barrel a try!"

"Very good location, close to Otaru Canal and all tourist attractions, including dinning experience, souvenir shops, snacks, ice-cream and gifts ideas.  I will recommend to all my friend.  The sushi is fresh too."

"Very lovely hotel with extremely helpful front desk staff who spoke good English. The location is really convenient smack right in between Otaru JR station and Otaru Canal and less than 15 mins walk to Sakaimaichi Shopping Street. The room is big in Japanese terms. No issue for those travelling with 2 x 30 inch lugguage. We had twin bed room which comes with a large sofa lounge enough for 1 person to sleep. We had dinner at the 11th Floor Casa Blanca. Wonderful dinner for 3 with wines, whisky and highballs. Exceptional night view of snow capped city buildings. All at an very surprising bill of ¥25,000 for a fine dinning restaurant. I will not hesitate to recommend this excellent hotel. Will definitely be back for my next visit to Otaru in Authum."
