"The hotel exceeded all the expectations! Would definitely recommend staying here if you are in Yamagata.
The personnel is very polite, very helpful, and tries to make sure you have a pleasant stay.
The hotel is a new building I would say, very close to the station. There is a 7/11 store on the 1st floor which is very convenient.
The room is very spacious, has everything you might need. Also you can take all the necessary items such as face creams, toners, lotions, hair oils, toothbrushes, hair ties, teas, coffees etc. at the front desk.
Absolutely wonderful experience!"

"Located on the top of a business building linking to the Yamagata station.
You won’t have to be worried even if it’s snowing or raining.
A side note to travellers from the hotter climate, the hotel doesn’t supply air conditioning during winter. Instead it has a small webbed facility that allows outside air to flow into the room. This slight chills the room. However during the day, the room will be super hot.
Initially we had a room facing the sun and when we checked in, the room is super hot. Called the customer service only to find out they didn’t have air conditioning during winter and we have to rent a fan from them.
After a slight communication, the customer service is kind enough to upgrade us to a bigger room which is slightly cooler. Big props to the customer service lady! 5 stars service !"

"It’s quite a big hotel, 3 buildings are connected and there are many rooms. The rooms are a bit outdated but still maintained well. Service was good and flexible. Transportation to the village is quite necessary when the roads are covered by snow, especially with luggage. They have free shuttle bus which is great.
Best parts: 1. Dinner semi-buffet has unlimited alcoholic beverages including local sake, draft beer and wines. 2. Ski & board rental shop is right outside of the hotel. Although hotel only accept cash for the lift ticket, you can rent the gear (rental shop accepts credit card) and ski down the hill (20sec) to the cable ticket counter to buy ticket, pay by credit card. The location has lifts 5,6 and cable 4"

観光しながら街ブラして〜ってやってたらあっという間に着くぐらいの距離なのでそこは心配なく。
後一階に温泉があり夜の時間が0時までなので夜風呂入りたい人は帰ってくる時間によっては入り損ねる可能性が少しだけあります。もちろん部屋にいつものシャワールームやバスタブがあるのでそこで洗うことも可能です。
加えて朝風呂は6時〜10時までなのでゆっくり入っても問題ないです。温泉もあるのでまた行きたいと思えるとてもいいホテルでした。また一階にローソンもあるので食事を買いつつ部屋でくつろぐなんてこともできます。"

"The room was very large and spacious for a family of three. The hotel was a bit dated, but very comfortable. The beds were not the best, not very supportive on the back and shoulders. "What a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow.
The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity.
My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!!
I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens."

The room was huge, much too large for just a solo traveler like me but it would have been perfect if I had brought my wife and child along. The onsen quality was great, albeit the fittings at the shower area were a bit old. The food was hands down amazing and featured great local produce. Honestly there was too much for one person to finish! What I especially liked was that they had a separate room on the first floor where if it was too early for you to check in, you could drop your luggage off, change, and then grab your gear and head to the slopes. Same thing if you intend to charge the slopes a bit more on your last day, just leave your stuff in the storage room, hit the slopes, come back and change out, hit the onsen for the last time, then go off. Definitely recommending this place to my friends visiting Zao.

VVieraskäyttäjäAbsolutely lovely place. At first I thought I'd be uncomfortable with how spaceous the room was (I'm a very jumpy solo traveller), but the room was just so comfy with an excellent view. The heater was a bit hot, but there was an electric fan too, so all was great.
The hotel allows you to have a free 50 minute private bath each night, and the private baths are amazing, able to accommodate up to five persons and with windows to let in the light and stuff. Excellent onsen water -- very acidic and very hot. Takes some time getting used to the heat, but once you do it's a heavenly experience. There are also public baths (free of charge) that you could enjoy throughout the night and into early morning (they're closed for cleaning only during 9-12 in the morning), one indoor and one outdoor, both connected to one another. The outdoor one is a bit small, but it's so refreshing to be able to flee from the stifling indoor onsen to enjoy the crisp winter air while soaking up in the heat.

VVieraskäyttäjäEven though we called the hotel stating that we would be late for the check-in and dinner as there was heavy snow in the highway. The staff postponed it to 730. However, the snow was so heavy, we lost our way in town and we arrived at 8:10. The staff saying that we were too late and rejected to provide any food for us. we had to walk downhill to the town to find our own dinner. however, on the second night of our stay, we noticed that the other guests were having dinner at 9:10 when we passed by the restaurant. We know that we were late, but I believed that hotel is in the hospitality industry, the staff have to be considerate to the guests. as we were not meant to be late on purpose, just because of the bad weather outside, we couldn’t drive fast. We were in the highway 2 1/2 hours without any food and drink in the hope of arriving on time.

MMichal LihockyThe room was beautiful, with tatami, yukata, tabi, and a little bag with towels to take with you when you go to their proper outdoor onsen that's right across the street. The onsen has good amenities, has 2 baths one indoor that's around 42 - 45 degrees, and outdoor one that's usually cooler around 38 - 42. The best thing about that onsen is that there usually not many people there, often I was there alone.
The breakfast was great too, there were at least around 20 - 30 different dishes/foods to choose from. The hotel also sells discounted ski passes, and has it's own ski/snowboard rental service for lower price than most of the rental services nearby (the snowboard was of great quality, the shoes not so much).
When we checked out, the hotel arranged a van to take us to the bus terminal as well. Overall, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at in Japan. 👌🏻

คคนสวยมาแล้วจ้าReally great hotel in Zao onsen. The location is easy to find and free parking for guest. The room is big and clean. I love the window in our room see the snow falling and small pond as well. We didn’t booking the dinner & breakfast so I don’t know the food taste. However, onsen is really great!! I love outdoor onsen that you can see the view of Zao mountain while bathing and snow falling to your head!! but just scare of bear. So nice to stayed here!

A better location might be located on the east side of Yamagata station as there are more food and beverage and convenience stores available.
Dated property but cozy and functional. A man made onsen within the property doesn’t hurt. We also had a rental car and overnight parking was ¥600.
Complimentary breakfast however you must account for time and occupancy, we did not have time to enjoy it due to the lines.
Service was top notch. Hotel was helpful with directions and translation.
A senior lady went the extra mile to assist with contacting next hotel and even considered train timings as well as advising us to stay in Yamagata and not go early as there was nothing available in the next onsen town.

Breakfast was good with different options both Japanese and western styles. Staff was helpful especially the Japanese personnel and the young lady in the breakfast room however there was one Indian-like man who was not really hospitable, never smiling and never talking (no hello, nothing at all) staring at you which made me uncomfortable.

PPockyBackpackThis hotel is located right next to the ropeway to see the Snow Monsters, which is very convenient. You can easily walk to line up for tickets early in the morning. Another advantage is that the hotel provides some covered parking spaces, so you don’t have to clear snow off your car in the morning.
Initially, I accidentally booked a room without dinner included. I tried emailing the hotel to request adding dinner, but unfortunately, I did not receive any response.
The room has a private hot bath, but you need to fill it yourself with hot water. The room size is relatively small, and the condition feels quite old.
Overall, compared to the very high room price, I don’t think it offers great value for money.

If the hotel can suggest other onson place or provide vochur, it would be nice. But we asked and there was nothing. Breakfast was good. And the night bar was a special idea.

Location is wonderful too, as it is quiet yet not far from the main areas to eat and transit in Yamagata. Honestly 1 of a hidden gem.
Only drawback would probably be the hot tub as she is handling it on her own and if there are multiple people living there that night, it can get a little dirty, so I'll keep to using the showers would do.
