"Excellent stay. The hotel is ideally located if arriving by train. We arrived in the morning and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check in early as our room was ready. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a roomy walk in shower. The only thing that would have improved it would have been some drawer space as it only has hanging space in the wardrobe. All the staff were helpfull and friendly. We had an evening meal and breakfast during our stay and both were excellent. We also made use of the leisure facilties during our stay. Overall would highly recommend and if we visit York again would definitely stay at The Milner."

"Good location close to city walls , 15min walking distance from train station.
Good English breakfast included in the room price. Room decent not fancy, perhaps a small renovation could be useful. Our room was at 3rd floor without lift so maybe is difficult for those with lot of baggages. The shower was fine with a lot of pressure despite being on the upper floor. It wasn’t possible to leave luggages after check out due to serious personal problem of the owner but in general he was very friendly willing to assist as was the one of the two ladies (dark hair) responsible for breakfast, always polite."

"Arrived after a 4 hour delay on our train, when we told desk staff they where very helpful even gave us a complementary drink. All areas we used where very clean.
We had a low level Queen room i thought it was a bit small and basic for the price we paid (£180) 2chairs desk big tv and bed. No view except the wall of the street.I was awake from 6am as room was under dining area and I think kitchen could hear banging and chairs scraping the floor.
We where both very disappointed with breakfast..
The full English just wasn't! Scrambled egg, sausage bacon grilled tomato and hash brown and beans poor quality products and hash browns and tomes had run out a waite was over 5mins with rest of food going cold on plate. So did with out. Cold meat and cheese !!! Processed ham and cheese tasteless...what happend to local products?
Staff where lovely at all times and located close to station"

"I stayed for two nights and it was a pleasant stay. The amenities were better than expected, as along with having a good supply of coffee, tea, and sugar, we also had a mini fridge. That was a pleasant surprise.
Location was decent, and next to a bus stop which is convenient. Lovely 30-40 minutes walk into city centre along the river and an Aldi down the road.
Road outside is quite loud but was bearable.
In our room, TV was a bit slow and the remote stopped working. Most likely just needs some new batteries.
Overall, a good stay."

"A very convenient location located within the city centre of York. There are numerous bus stops just located within 3 mins of walking making it very easy to travel to rail station or designer outlet. Moreover, there are numerous groceries such as saintsbury, Tesco and M&S foods. 10mins walk to York minister. It comes with complementary breakfast as well and it has many varieties and delicious. From the room you can overlook the Clifford castle as well."

"Beautiful old pub located on the main road into York from the south. Car parking at the rear. Takes about twenty minutes to walk to the Minster and the route takes you past Clifford's Tower & The Shambles. The room was very clean & tidy, decorated simply & tastefully. Shower was hot and efficient. We slept well although we prefer a firmer bed. The pub is on a main road but it was quiet during the night & we weren't disturbed by visitors to the bar (we stayed on a Thursday). Good beer, I had a pint of Wainwright's Gold. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay again, much better to support a local business like this than the big brands. My wife is Chinese and wanted a Chinese breakfast, we found a place called Noodle Lane about ten minutes walk from the hotel, it was expensive but authentic."

"Really comfortable Hotel…such a big room if compare to other hotel, with the big terrace that you can enjoy the view of the river.
Also, it's not too far to walk from the train station as we didn't drive into York. It is within walking distance of York's main attractions such as the York Minister and The Shambles.
The staff are nice and this is a good choice if you plan to visit York."

VVieraskäyttäjäOn the surface, this cozy place is probably a good bet for a stay in York. It's just enough outside of the city center to avoid all the tourists, but close enough to walk right in. The reservation process was great and the price is good. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel and, in many senses, it lives up to that status. The staff is excellent. The food and coffee is very good and everyone is very attentive. The rooms are immaculate (heated bathroom floors are amazing!) and the amenities are great. That all said, there are some issues . Often the staff cleans the front area in the middle of the afternoon, which is a rather inconvenient time to clean as it is disruptive to the guests. Though the summer would be different, it was in the low 40's when we were there and heating in the lobby doesn't seem to be a priority for the hotel. We had to have someone set up a space heater for us in the tea room so we could stay warm, which was a bad look (tacky) for them. The biggest issue, however, we that they held a wedding event on the second say we were there. While it's completely understandable for hotels to host events, this particular location is ill suited to do so given the noise level of the event and the small quarters of the hotel. They had a live band, which sent the music to most of the rooms, making sleeping nearly impossible. Though they did move our room, we still heard the band, who played until almost midnight. Having a bunch of wedding guests being loud all lover the hotel also didn't help. The staff agreed with my assessment, which was to either not have events at all or, if they do, block out the rooms from being rented since it is impossible to merge the hotel with an event space. it's just too small. Ultimately, they need to make a decision about who they are as a brand, event space or 4 star hotel. I'd pitch they choose hotel because that is what it really is.

BBeth&MegRoomzzz is our favourite place to stay when visiting York. Its a 10 min walk along the river to the town. We got lucky with a river view this time. The staff are lovely and helpful. We stayed in a grande studio, which was very big with a super comfy bed, sofa, table, chairs and a kitchenette. Its so handy with kids because you can cook something for dinner if you're had a long day.
In the morning they offer coffee and freshly baked croissants in the foyer (we timed it well on day 1 as they were still warm!!) The showers are out of this world!! Hot and powerful. Loved every minute of our stay and we'll be back again. Thank you

AAnonyymi käyttäjäRoom was good, loved that the leisure centre was open till late so could get time at the pool and jacuzzi even after sight seeing. Breakfast was great, nice continental selection, and a picturesque view from the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
A potential improvement could be the hot water control in the shower - ours was a Deluxe room with bath. The temperature was either scalding hot or ice cold - there was no in-between.

YYezi一棟小別墅，房間整潔乾淨，很温馨安靜，服務很好很熱情，我們住3樓，沒有電梯，行李箱都是店家幫拿上房間的，停車也算方便。周住環境不錯，出行也方便，沿河邊步行20分鐘邊觀景過走很快就到達鬧市區的旅遊景點，唯有早餐很貴。一天兩晚還算是愜意的體驗吧。

We were prepared for a 'tired' looking room and it was, in fact just that. HOWEVER, both the room and bathroom were spotless; the bed absolutely huge with nice linens and the shower in the morning was spot on for temperature. Service from beginning to end was fantastic and, though I didn't have it myself, my husband said the breakfast was excellent. We travel both locally and internationally a lot and i rarely comment as many 4-5* hotels just go through the motions however, I wanted to give this hotel and team a well deserved shout out. We shall certainly be back and recommend to anyone looking for a very good place to stay on the outskirts of York.

VVieraskäyttäjäI stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel.
I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax.
The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting.
I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours.
Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again.
