We are a retirees from Canada. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is ideal for visiting the Nantou ancient city. The surrounding area has nice shops and many places to eat. The laundry facilities are clean and the machines are modern and powerful. There is no cost to do laundry. The gym only has an elliptical, treadmill, rowing machine, a slanted bench and a yoga mat. There are no free weights or kettlebell - those would make a nice addition. I will note that the rowing machine needs some cleaning and lubrication. The staff at the desk, the housekeeping staff, and the kitchen staff were all helpful and friendly. The hotel has a couple of grey cats that spend most of their time in a large enclosure near the package reception. However one like to wander and is sometimes kept me company in the gym and laundry area.

I was unexpectedly stranded at Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei) during the busy holiday season and urgently needed a place to stay. After comparing several listings on Trip.com, this hostel stood out based on its reviews, and it fully lived up to my expectations. The photos are accurate and reflect the property exactly as it is. The host prepared the bed sheets and pillowcases right in front of me, which immediately reassured me about the cleanliness. Everything was spotless and well maintained. Cleanliness is one of my top priorities when choosing accommodation because I value my health, and I felt completely comfortable staying here. I saw no pests or anything unhygienic, so if you’re concerned about that, you can rest easy. The host speaks basic English and was very welcoming. Since I had just traveled from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen North, he even kindly offered to show me around the area. There are plenty of food options nearby, I enjoyed Lanzhou noodles and stinky tofu just steps from the building. For clarification, the hostel is located inside an apartment building and operates in a dorm-style setup. Shoes are removed at the entrance, and guest slippers are provided. There is a comfortable common area with a sofa and dining table, free drinking water, and complimentary toiletries including a toothbrush and disposable towel, which was especially helpful since I had forgotten to pack one. The bathroom is modern and equipped with a Western-style sit-down toilet. Each bed has its own privacy curtain and personal light, which I appreciated. There are also power outlets conveniently located at each bed. Wi-Fi worked smoothly without any issues, and free laundry is available, which is a great bonus for travelers. There are designated quiet hours, so you can sleep comfortably. During my stay, it was peaceful and no one snored. The host even asked whether I snore, which shows he is considerate of all guests. The other guests were polite and respectful. I was the only foreigner staying there, and the rest were Chinese travelers who were likely in the same situation, unable to secure train tickets that night. The property is non-smoking, which I also appreciated. The only minor downside is for taller guests. I am 183 cm (6 ft), and I had to curl up slightly since the bed length appears to be around 180 cm. It was manageable, but something to keep in mind if you’re tall. The location is very convenient. It’s next to the train station, and you can easily take the subway if you have luggage. It only cost me 2 RMB to ride, so there’s really no need to take a taxi. In the morning, I bought pork steamed buns and soy milk from a nearby vendor, he was friendly, and the food was great. For $4, this was outstanding value. If you’re looking for a clean, affordable, and convenient place to stay near Shenzhen North, this is an excellent option. This stay truly exceeded my expectations and can best be described as a genuine “home away from home.” It is rare to find a hotel that performs so well across comfort, service, location, and thoughtful details, and this experience left a very lasting impression. First of all, the room itself was exceptionally comfortable. From the moment I walked in, everything—from the bedding and lighting to the layout and overall ambience—made it easy to relax. The room was clearly very well maintained, with no signs of wear or aging. The décor felt modern yet warm, and the attention to upkeep was evident in every detail, from the furniture to the bathroom facilities. Returning to the room each day felt comforting and familiar, which is something not every hotel can achieve. At check-in, there was a short wait for the room due to availability, but the experience was handled extremely well. A Guest Relation Specialist proactively approached me, kindly checked in on my situation, and thoughtfully added me on WeChat so that assistance would always be easily accessible. From that point onward, communication became seamless. Whether I had questions, requests, or needed help at any time during my stay, support was always just a message away, with quick and attentive responses that made me feel truly cared for. I would especially like to thank Loyalty Manager Mr. Cao for arranging a room upgrade. The upgraded room offered more space and a better overall experience, which elevated my stay significantly. This gesture made me feel genuinely valued as a returning guest, rather than just another reservation. Although there was construction nearby during my stay, the hotel’s sound insulation was excellent. Noise never became an issue, and my rest was completely undisturbed. Both nights were quiet and restful, and I slept extremely well—something I truly appreciated. In the afternoon, the Guest Relations team kindly assisted in arranging the JW Christmas–themed afternoon tea. The presentation, quality, and festive atmosphere were outstanding. It was clear that great care had gone into the experience, and it added a wonderful sense of occasion to my stay. This was definitely a highlight and deserves high praise. The hotel’s location is another major advantage. Traveling to the airport in the morning was incredibly convenient, saving both time and stress. At the same time, the hotel is not far from Xiangmi Lake Park, making it equally suitable for leisure walks and relaxation. Whether for business or leisure, the location truly feels ideal. In the evening, based on a recommendation from the Guest Relations team, I visited the bar on the fourth floor—and I’m very glad I did. The atmosphere was beautiful, especially under the moonlight, creating a calm and romantic setting that made the night feel special. I highly recommend the Moscow Mule there—it was perfectly balanced, refreshing, and honestly one of the best I’ve had. Another thoughtful touch was the arrangement of a late check-out by the Guest Relations team. This allowed me to rest a bit longer and enjoy the morning without feeling rushed, which made a big difference before departure. Breakfast was also very impressive. The selection was extensive and well organized. Even though the restaurant was busy, everything ran smoothly and efficiently, with clear flow and attentive staff ensuring a pleasant dining experience. In addition, food deliveries were conveniently handled by service robots, which was both efficient and fun, adding a modern and thoughtful touch to the stay. Overall, this hotel excels not only in facilities, but also in service quality and attention to detail. From check-in to check-out, every interaction reflected professionalism, warmth, and genuine hospitality. Whether for business travel or a relaxing getaway, this is a hotel I would confidently recommend. It is absolutely a place I look forward to returning to in the future.

We were so impressed of almost everything about this stay. I will recommend to my friends, and the my relatives to come and pay a visit. This package of a new renovated room plus Club Lounge access both are amazing.  Food is great. Service is amazing. The view is epic.  The room is built and designed well.  Gym room is big.  Especially our highlight is the customer service, my wife and I wanna point out the staff that serving us (入住服務大使) Mandy is very kind and helpful to us. Delight our stay. Also other staffs that served/helped us are very polite and kind. (Front desk: Perry etc.)  We couldn’t ask for more. Coz this is more than our expectation. From the moment I stepped into its soaring lobby, I knew this would be one of those stays that redefines what luxury hospitality means. Arrival and Reception First impressions matter, and the reception team at the Mandarin Oriental understands this with an almost intuitive grace. Jason Zhu greeted me with the kind of warmth that felt less like a rehearsed welcome and more like being received by an old friend who just happens to have impeccable professional instincts. His attention to detail was extraordinary — he had noted my preferences before I could voice them, and the check-in process was so seamless it barely registered as a process at all. Sicily and Marsh were equally outstanding, always present at just the right moments with a smile, a helpful suggestion, or a thoughtful gesture. Together, the three of them set a tone of effortless elegance that carried through every hour of my stay. In a city as fast-paced and forward-looking as Shenzhen, there is something deeply reassuring about a reception team that makes you feel as though time has slowed down just for you. The Club Skyline View Room If the lobby whispered luxury, the Club Skyline View Room declared it in full voice. Perched high above the glittering sprawl of Shenzhen, the room offered a panorama that genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the city's dazzling skyline — a forest of illuminated towers stretching toward the horizon, the lights of Futian and beyond shimmering like an earthbound constellation. I found myself drawn to the window repeatedly, at golden hour, at twilight, and again in the deep hours of the night, each time discovering a different mood and a different kind of beauty. The room itself was a masterclass in refined design. The palette was calm and sophisticated, with rich textures and thoughtful layering that felt contemporary yet timeless in the way the Mandarin Oriental has always done best. The bed was, simply put, superb — the kind of bed that makes you reconsider every mattress you have ever slept on and find them all wanting. Linens were crisp and impossibly soft. The bathroom was a sanctuary of marble and glass, generously appointed with the brand's signature amenities, and the soaking tub positioned near the window offered what might be one of the finest bathing experiences in southern China. Every detail, from the lighting controls to the turndown service to the quiet hum of climate perfection, spoke of a property that understands the difference between filling a room with expensive things and creating a genuine sense of place and comfort. The Mandarin Club Accessing the Mandarin Club elevated an already exceptional stay into something truly rarefied. The lounge itself is a beautifully curated space — serene, sophisticated, and blessed with those same sweeping skyline views that make this property so special. But what transforms the Club from a lovely room with good canapés into a genuinely memorable experience is its people. Chelsea Zhou is a revelation and deserves a special mention. Her hospitality instincts are pitch-perfect; she anticipated needs I hadn't yet articulated, and managed to be attentive without ever being intrusive — a balance that even the finest hotels in the world struggle to achieve. Priscilla Pang was equally impressive, radiating a genuine kindness and professionalism that made every interaction a pleasure. Whether it was the afternoon tea service, or the evening menu and cocktails, Chelsea and Priscilla ensured that every moment in the Club felt personal, polished, and quietly luxurious. I returned to the lounge far more often than I had planned, not just for the excellent food and drink,

We loved staying at this hotel! The location is amazing, a walk down to coco park shopping centre. The staff were super friendly and helpful, we always spoke to Ray Guo and Wendy Wu who were great! The rooms are actually also very spacious. We loved the play centre they had as it wasn’t too big for you to be running around for your kids, but big enough for toddlers to have fun. Overall great hotel!

I stayed at the Mahjong room with 3 single beds . Location was good cause a few shopping malls was just around the corner . There is a taxi stand in front of the hotel. This hotel is actually in an office /commercial building was on the 10th floor . The only complain is there is NO towel/ clothes hook in the bathroom .

Customer service very responsive, thanks for that. Room utilities and facilities are up to standard. Location quite ideal, near to convenient stores and clinics if there's urgent needs. Many restaurant nearby as well. Cleanliness of floor can be improved

We are a group of 7 friends. I made a reservation for all of us together and paid around 8€, which I thought was a very good price. The day we arrived, the owner told us the price was per person and not for the whole booking, which was odd as the reservation already had our 7 names on it, but also reasonable considering the very low price. After our stay I can honestly say that the original price of 8€ for 7 is the maximum I would have paid for this place. The rooms themselves are not too bad and in line with the Chinese standard (quite right, very hard and slim futon mattresses), but also clean sheets and good privacy with curtains. The real issue with this place are the bathrooms. First of all there are only two of them for more than 20 people. Secondly, they are nothing short of disgusting. One of them is a room with a squatting toilet, a sink and a shower that smells like piss worse than a public toilet. The second one has a Western toilet with a broken toilet seat and a shower without a shower head (basically like a garden hose). I normally don't complain about these things as I'm used to traveling on a budget. But as I said, these are things I would have totally accepted if the price I paid was indeed the original one I made a reservation for. Especially because for that price (as a group of 7) you can find cheaper and nicer options in the same area. I would not recommend this place unless you really can't find anything cheaper or better, or if you want to be very close to the civic center. Definitely not a good place to stay more than 1 night.
