We really enjoyed our stay at Mr Bean Holiday Semporna. It’s about 10–15 minutes outside of town, but in a much nicer and quieter location. It’s easy to get around, you can book a Grab or use the free shuttle provided by the accommodation. The restaurant was excellent and happily adapted meals for vegetarians, which we really appreciated. The pool was lovely, the whole place was spotlessly clean, and our room was huge – two double beds and plenty of space to relax. The staff were wonderful and attentive, even coming out with umbrellas to meet guests arriving by car, which was such a thoughtful touch. The only downside was seeing a bird kept in a cage, especially when there were so many wild birds flying freely around the property - it just felt a bit out of place in such a beautiful natural setting. Overall, though, it’s a great choice if you want comfort, quiet, and great service near Semporna.

I had an amazing stay at The Firefly Resort Semporna! The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel so welcome throughout my visit. The food was excellent – you have to try the Mee Basah and Xiong Dai Mee Fun, both were absolutely delicious. The resort is in a strategic location with great vibes, making it a perfect getaway spot. And the highlight? They have a bird that can talk in Malay – such a unique and fun experience! Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Semporna.

I had a pleasant stay at your resort. The environment was peaceful and relaxing, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and I truly appreciated the warm hospitality.

Semporna is an interesting place to visit, with several islands surrounded by coral reefs for snorkeling and diving, more beautiful than many other snorkeling spots worldwide. Staying at this hostel instead of moving to an island resort is a good way to budget. And not only that, the fish market in Semporna is the most incredible one I have seen, seafood like lobsters, large shrimps, crabs so fresh, not even the one at Kota Kinabalu can be compared good as it was too. The DZ hostel lady staff was very helpful and can arrange for island trips at a reasonable price. The dorms are separated into boys and girls, something I truly appreciate. The bathrooms faced the afternoon sun, so they were dried easily and kept clean. Laundry by machine was offered free, a super plus for swimmers. The hostel also offered local Malay snack food for breakfast, and coffee or tea were always available. To be honest, it's a good budget place to stay while splurging on the island tours. It's a bit sad that no cooking is allowed here, even though there was a kitchen. Sad because the seafood mentioned above was so available. The facade of the building is nothing to boast about, and like many places, the external (streets, pavement, eyc) can be a mess. That should not deter visiting this part of the world mainly because the sea in this area is astoundingly replenished with marine life.

Special shoutout to Mandy for going above and beyond to help me with my special request. - Frequent power outages. We spent 1 day and 1 night at the resort. There were probably 6 outages throughout our stay. With one outage lasting maybe 10 minutes. No hot water in our rooms. The staff informed us hot water may be weak in our room, but our room's water was completely cold. The staff will supply hot water upon request, but it came in a bucket and ladle. Overall atmosphere is to be recommended, but the negatives bring it down when you are paying for a luxury experience.

Some good things: Location,sea life,food,environment,transfer services Bad things: No bar,after 10 pm you have to do your own things.Many people were asking for bar..while there was bar at near by resort and music programme Mouse in the room,cold response on information at midnight by Reception Many knocks for check soon after breakfast No proper guidance and services for near by islands…even we tried to go for timba timba islands but we waited but they tell the high boat price and low information

Hotel Review Positive Points: 1. Air-conditioning was very effective and kept the room comfortable throughout the stay. 2. Great window view – beautiful sea and jetty scenery that adds to the relaxing atmosphere. (see my attached picture) 3. Excellent location – conveniently close to eateries and the jetty, making it easy to get around. 4. Reasonably priced in-house food – offers good value for money for guests who prefer to dine in. 5. Complimentary extra bottled water was provided upon request, which was appreciated. 6. Friendly and helpful staff across all departments – from housekeeping, café, and maintenance to the front desk. Everyone was courteous and attentive. 7. Special mention to the chef – a very kind and gentlemanly person. On our first day, we ordered 6 fried eggs for breakfast, assuming they were included. The chef initially didn’t inform us of the RM2 charge per egg and kindly did not charge us for them. When we later tried to order again, he politely informed us about the charge. We truly appreciated his honesty and kind gesture. 8. very nice grilled meat at the roof cafe (5th floor).The promo price is 5 sticks for rm9.9 . worth to eat! --- Areas for Improvement: 1. Limited breakfast buffet selection – mainly local dishes such as chicken, eggs, vegetables, rice, or noodles. While the food was tasty, there were no options like fresh milk, cereal, or egg station. Fruit choices were also limited to just bananas every day. 2. Window leakage during heavy rain – rainwater entered the room. However, the staff responded promptly and mopped the floor immediately. 3. No robe hooks in the bathroom – makes it inconvenient to hang clothes or towels. 4. Shortage of bath towels – clean towels were only available in the late afternoon after laundry was returned. 5. Extra blanket charge – an additional around rm50-60 was required if requesting one more blanket, which felt a bit expensive. 6. Low water pressure in the shower – the water flow was quite weak, making the shower experience less enjoyable. 7. Housekeeping quality needs improvement – there was sand in the room, and although we informed the staff, it was not cleaned properly even after the feedback. Extra Tip for Travellers: There’s no laundry shop in Semporna town, so do remember to bring enough clothes for your stay.

Pleasant overnight escape at Nusa Kuya Resort with a group of four, and we truly made the most of it! From snorkeling in the clear waters to enjoying the buffet, belting out songs at karaoke, and watching the turtles—it was a full, fun itinerary. Every activity felt worth it, and the friendly, accommodating staff made the experience even better. Definitely a memorable short getaway!

I didn’t pay much attention to the hotel’s details because I was out scuba diving every day. This hotel is old, so if you’re looking for a super clean and modern feel, this isn’t the place for you. They provide a good breakfast, and the staff even packed it for me since I had to leave early for diving. The location isn’t far from the main center, and there are plenty of shops nearby, which is convenient if you want to buy snacks or grab a quick meal.
