"Friendly and welcoming were we received and the rooms offered all the necessary amenties. It was clean, quiet for those who had their rooms far away from the elevator. Due to the age of the hotel I was not surprised of the noises the floor makes and the outdated interiors. The location is perfect, just watch out the street. The breakfast was a buffet and had rhe basic dishes. Keep in mind everything is self service, and there ia no cook to make you eggs."

"The view is our go to hotel when we come to Eastbourne. The staff and facilities are excellent, the rooms are a great size with great views and we enjoy sitting in the bar area with our friends watching the world go by. The area is excellent and we have never struggled to park the car, remember to get a voucher from reception. We will be back!"

"We booked the Standard room with double bed - as it was middle range, not as modern as the Ocean View rooms you see in the example photos - but hoping it was not as poor quality as the windowleas rooms that got bad reviews. It was not quite as clean as I hoped but bearable. The room felt dusty around the edges, so we stayed away from the walls and back of the furniture. There was a lot of dust on the lampshade. Also I saw a long hair under the pillow before I got in and in the corner of the shower the next day. Also, there was a rolled up pair of Batman socks from a previous occupant, tucked behind the curtains. None of that would have been too bad, but the green emergency light was shining too brightly all night. I added a picture of of the view from the bed in the dark with the green light. Apart from that, the breakfast was good and the hotel was pretty in general. Also the location was great as it was along the sea front."

"Amazing location right by the beach so some rooms would be overlooking the promenade and coast. The rooms are tired and decoration needs to be updated although the reception areas look good. The beds and pillows were VERY comfy! Better than some travelodge, so a good night sleep. So if you can look past the poor paint, the £37 a night twin room will be a bargain. I would return at this price, but not more expensive. Its not the usual high quality or standard that I expected from Best Western chain. More a budget option. £7 is for a continental breakfast so this was declined. Tea and coffee in room was good. Late arrival but checking in was swift and very helpful. Free but limited overnight parking outside but you have to get a ticket (the hotel can do this for you for £2.25) from 8am so if you want a lie in, you need to book and pay when you check in."

"Lovely hotel in a great location, very near the bandstand and town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We always had a night cap in the bar before bed which was great. We also got a room upgrade to one with a partial sea view which was very nice to have. Parking was easy. You get given vouchers which we paid about £2 each per day for, and you can park on the surrounding streets. We were lucky and got just outside the hotel by the seafront. If in summer, you may want to get there in the evening when day trippers will have gone home. There's also the ncp car park near by if necessary. Bed was very comfy and bedroom was a good size with tea and coffee facilities. We didn't have any meals there so I can't comment on that. (I did notice on the menu that the vegan cooked breakfast consisted of vegetables but no meat substitute, which I thought was a bit poor for the price.) I'd certainly stay at this hotel again."

"A 5 star luxurious Victorian beachfront hotel with a view! The highlight is the sea view so close you could hear the waves crash on the beach. Easy parking, welcoming staff, chocolate Easter egg gifts, goodie bags for the children, sumptuous breakfasts with unusual treats like figs, honeycomb, smoked haddock, ! the incredible main hall with the fireplace to relax in!!! My husband and i had a nice stay. Perfect location as only accross the road to the theatre where we went that evening. Toiletries/Tea & Coffee available in room. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Would stay again.

Fantastic stay! Highly recommend. My partner and I stayed for a night. Arrived rather late and the staff were still up waiting for us. Acknowledged us by name and showed us up to our sea-facing room. Clean, well furnished, minimalist modern and spacious feel. Woke up to a fantastic unblocked sea view in our large window. Breakfast was available to all in the kitchen/ pantry from 7.30-10 with a more than decadent spread of your staples, hot fresh brewed tea and coffee. Minor drawback was the slightly longer walking distance from the city (about 15mins), no toothbrush available, and had I not read up online ahead of time, I’d never be able to find the place as there is (as many others have also mentioned) no clear sign that says “The Halcyon”. So to anyone to follow in our steps, this is honestly a beautiful place to stay. Excellent value for money away from the noise of the town centre, wonderful hospitable staff for a lovely guest experience, delightful & scrumptious brekkie, cosy and clean modernistic rooms & gorgeous views to wake up to. No hassle checking in or out. Just be mindful to look out for the big words that says “HOTEL” and you’re very likely at the right spot. (Checkout photos 1&2) Walk in without fear and be greeted by warm smiles and a fantastic experience all around.

The hotel is very beautiful, very clean, the sea scenery is very good, the transportation is also very convenient, and near to the sea. Open your eyes and see the sunrise. The boss is also very warm, there is water and milk in the refrigerator, very satisfied!! I love here and want to stay next time. It is value for money. Staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast is traditionally English breakfast, with bread, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea. Although not many variety, but the food is good. Room is small, main bed is comfortable, but the extra bed is too soft, not comfortable. As no a/c, we need to ask for fan. Room is not all prepared. You need to ask reception, but they are kind to help. Comparatively, a bit far from pier or beach. But maybe a good walk along beach during sunny day.
