"We are Malaysian & can speak mandarin. Don’t worry if you’re non-chinese speaker, they will try their best to communicate with you.
Sonzhuju Coffee & Tea Holiday Villa is convenient for those who bring big luggage. They have a service to help carry your luggage too, from the main road (approx 170m). And please let them know once you arrived at the main road! The hotel is away from loud noise & busy from the main area. Cosy place & strategic for us staying in 3D2N. The room was clean. Breakfast included, but for Muslims, please mention that you’re Muslim, then they will prepare you veggie options. And you can choose to have your meal in your room or their eating area.
Ai Fei, a local host from the hotel, was very helpful in arranging our customised tour trip. We texted the hotel via WeChat 8–9 days prior to our arrival in Lijiang. We asked if there was any local there who could advise us on the trip and straightaway they made a group for discussion. He'd make sure that we were all okay & happy to discuss our plan to visit any area that we would like to go to. He arranged our private car trip to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley and brought the ticket for us too. Upon we'd arrived at the hotel, he served us a welcome tea, fruit and flower cake. From the next morning we are going to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley. He advised us on what the do’s and don't prior to our trip. The private driver that he helped arrange for us was also very helpful & patient to ensure that we felt safe going to the place (group chat). He also helped to arrange a private car for us to Shangri-la. Overall, he made our plan and trip smoothly.
As for the Muslims, you can ask him or the hotel host to recommend where the nearest Muslim restaurant they will definitely find for you.
Overall, definitely recommend staying here. We are happy with our stay here."

"A beautiful hotel located in a fantastic place in Lijiang Old Town. The owner was very welcoming and on arrival let us leave our bags for us to explore the town and when we returned he welcomed us with his own Chinese tea. The room was great! Good size, very comfortable beds, warm, good shower and toilet too. It had a lovely courtyard view and window seat. The owner helped us and answered all of our questions through WeChat and let us leave our bags for our fins day. We would 100% recommend!"

"Good view of Yulong Snow Mountain from room and rooftop lounge & terrace. They even thoughtfully set up 3 tripod stands on the rooftop terrace for guests’ use. Room was clean & spacious, bed was comfortable and shower pressure was good. No elevator so you need to climb stairs to your room or breakfast / butter tea demo (level 5 rooftop) which can be a little strenuous if you are not used to the high altitude yet. Breakfast is very good, especially the panfried chickpea jelly. We were too early for breakfast on our day to the snow mountain, and they packed simple breakfast (bread, orange & milk) for us to go. We also enjoyed the snacks provided at the nightly butter tea demo. They also kindly helped us rent an electric scooter online when we could not do it due to lack of local number. Location is about 20min walk to Lijiang Old Town. Highly recommended and I would stay here again"

"From the time we stepped into the hotel till we leave, we were impressed with the warm hospitality and service of the staff. We were greeted with tea at the lobby while checking in and soon after were presented with a plate of freshly cut fruits, warm egg tarts and hot roasted rose tea. Breakfast had a good spread of food and the most amazing was the view of the jade dragon snow mountain from the breakfast area. The famous heilong tan is also just across the road and the hotel is also a short 15 to 20min walk to the Lijiang ancient town. Will definitely be back if we visit Lijiang again."

"We loved staying in this hotel. It is a short walk away from Lijiang old town, which is absolutely beautiful.
The guy at the front desk was very kind and helpful, he asked if we wanted our rooms cleaned during our stay and recommended itineraries for us.
Our room was nice and cosy and the projector was really cool. The view from the rooftop bar was also awesome!"

Service is truly 1000/10. The staff are incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, even though they don’t speak English fluently. I have never experienced hotel staff this kind — they treated me like family.
I had an issue with WeChat, and they went out of their way to help me despite the language barrier.
There is also a free pick-up service from the train station, and guests are welcomed with delicious tea and apples — such a thoughtful and heartwarming touch.

The staff helped me successfully purchase tickets to Snow Dragon Mountain when both Klook and Trip.com were completely sold out. They also offered discounts when booking any Liijiang tours, which was a big plus.
The tour guide was excellent.
I also tried the in-room massage service, which was very good and extremely convenient. Prices start from only 136 RMB, offering great value for money.

The location is very convenient for booking rides and walking to the old town.
I stayed for 3 days and visited the old town 4 times, both in the morning and at night — the atmosphere was always pleasant and relaxing. One night, I even got to enjoy fireworks directly from my hotel room view, which was an unforgettable moment.

The hotel is a traditional old house, but the facilities are well maintained and comfortable.

"The stay was super lovely. The room was nice and spacious and clean! The hosts were 100/5, incredibly kind, funny, friendly and helpful. If you need help with an itinerary or bookings or tea knowledge or just finding the best picturesque spots in old town, the hotel staff esp mr. Zhang and his buddy would be more than happy to help you out or even take you there! They were super amazing which made the stay even better!
The location is great once you’re there, easy access to things within the old town. (Not right in the center the hustle and bustle so you get some peacefulness but literally 2mins from some good food and 5 from the more populated areas of old town).
The only thing is it is a bit of a walk to the accommodation since cars aren’t allowed in old town area. if you have luggage, make sure to just grab one of those luggage delivery drivers or ask the host to help you arrange ahead of time, it’s super affordable and worth not trying to find your way through the old town maze with luggage lugging behind.
Definitely coming back here on our next visit back in Lijiang! Loved the place and people!"

"Home away from home. This stay in Lijiang is the most enjoyable stay foe our Yunnan trip. The hotel butler contacted us few days before our check in date to ensure we know how to get there, whether we wanted to be picked up or dropped off at station. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially with courier our stuff from Lijiang to Kunming. Rooftop has superb view and there is no need to go to insta famous cafe. Really, their service is top notch! Will definitely recommend this place to friends and families. Cant wait to be back!"

Their room are exactly as it is with great local architectural vibes yet very warm and cosy. Bathrooms are very clean and no odor which can be a common issue in ancient cities. They are also very connected around and able to introduce restaurants/bars. Definitely my top choice for my next trip!

RRenee C.I had a truly memorable stay at YUNDU and would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, tastefully designed, and warm place to stay in Lijiang. Overall, the experience was very positive, with excellent service, cozy design, and many thoughtful touches. There were a few minor areas for improvement, but they did not take away from how much I enjoyed my stay.
Breakfast was excellent and honestly better than many meals I had outside. The local auntie who prepares breakfast is incredibly warm and friendly. The mixian is very foreigner-friendly, light, comforting, and not oily or salty like many outside options. I requested extra vegetables and additional boiled eggs, and she was more than happy to accommodate. This care really stood out.
YUNDU’s Samoyed dog, Sanjin (三斤), is truly the heart and mascot of the hotel. He is extremely friendly and intelligent. Staff would say things like “去拍照，去跟姐姐玩” and Sanjin would immediately come over. During my afternoon tea, he quietly came over and sat beside me, which was a very heart-warming moment. Upon checkout, I even received Sanjin fridge magnets and a Polaroid photo, which was incredibly thoughtful.
First impressions were great.
As part of the package, YUNDU arranged an airport pickup from Lijiang Airport using a clean, comfortable EV. The driver was friendly, chatty, and helpful, and the ride to the hotel was smooth and relaxing.
I was pleasantly surprised with a free room upgrade. The upgraded room was spacious, perfect for morning stretching, and included a large and very clean bathtub. Bath balls and a sheet mask were provided, which was a lovely winter touch. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were a bit soft for me, but there were firmer ones available, and layering them worked well. The blanket was thick, soft, and warm, and even during power outages, I stayed comfortable.
Facilities were well thought out, including a Laifen hair dryer with strong airflow, a large high-definition TV facing the bed with VIP streaming access, and a large humidifier suitable for overnight use. The bathroom layout was excellent for winter, with separated toilet and shower. The electronic toilet has heating and auto-flush, and the shower area includes warm air from above. The mirror lighting is also great for makeup.
There were some minor layout quirks. There is no floor heating, and the slippers were placed far from the entrance. The electric kettle was placed on a cabinet with no power socket nearby.
Service was one of YUNDU’s strongest points. Staff helped with luggage, provided room tours, and checked in regularly via WeChat. When I mentioned possible altitude discomfort, they even gifted me an oxygen tank. The boss was friendly and happily helped me take photos with Sanjin.
The only small gap was the butler service. I only realised who my butler was on the last night, and one included service, a butler-accompanied visit to Baisha Ancient Town, which never happened — neither I nor the staff remembered it until I reviewed my package later on Trip.com. That said, my butler was extremely efficient in arranging transportation to Lugu Lake, with smooth coordination and reasonable pricing.
The entire property is tastefully decorated, cozy, and inviting. The fireplace in the lobby is a highlight and perfect for winter evenings. During my first two nights, there were power outages. While this delayed some of my work, the room stayed warm. The upside was zero light pollution, and I could see a sky full of stars, which became one of my favourite moments of the stay.
I strongly recommend YUNDU to anyone looking for a beautiful view, thoughtful design, warm service, and a cozy yet affordable stay in Lijiang. If you love Lijiang, come to Baisha. If you love Baisha, come to YUNDU.

I had a wonderful experience during my recent stay at Liqiang. From the moment I arrived, the level of service exceeded my expectations.
The highlight of my visit was the exceptional hospitality provided by our host, Mr. Sing, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He was incredibly caring and attentive throughout our stay, taking the time to help arrange our itinerary and providing valuable local insights.
Mr. Sing's assistance was invaluable - he personally helped us with our luggage from the main entrance all the way up to the hotel, which we greatly appreciated. His local knowledge really enhanced our trip, as he introduced us to excellent dining options and guided us to the best shopping areas in the vicinity.
The genuine care and attention to detail shown by our host Mr. Sing made our stay not just comfortable, but truly memorable. I would highly recommend Liqiang to anyone looking for a place that combines good accommodations with outstanding personal service.

VVieraskäyttäjäI couldn't express how grateful we found this hotel. Firstly the location was great with stunning view overlooking the entire ancient town. We particularly enjoy sitting at the balcony and listening to the live music from the bars nearby, while blending into the vibe there. Despite situated uphill, it was an easy walk down to the square street and accessible to any restaurants and shops. It's also close to south gate and even we walked to the other end near ZhongYi night market, we can simple return to the hotel by taking a didi ride, which will stop you at the Jie Feng Lou. The room was warm enough and the hottub was a plus point during cold days. Lastly, the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They offered topnotch service and assisted us to sort out our transportation issue the next day since we need to check out very early in the morning to the snow mountain. Really appreciate that and I'd not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone going to LiJiang. Pick this hotel and you won't regret!

As Muslim travelers, we truly appreciated the convenient location—nestled in the charming, rustic old town yet just a short walk from the main road, making it easy to find halal meals without trekking far or uphill. DDonn Tan PSI am Delightfully Amazed by this renowned famous Banyan Tree Hotel. It is such a Beautifully Constructed Hotel with West Lake like Environment surrounding with Villas giving you a Big Beautiful Chinese style Garden Ambience. I am lucky to get a Free Upgrade to a Villa with Swimming Pools and Jade Dragon Mountain View right in front of Bedroom with a Garden (many thanks to their front office staffs).

Their Restaurant Foods Quality is also very Good and at very Reasonable Pricing for a 5 Stars Restaurant. Do get their Restaurant Breakfast Package which is really Worth it for their Variety and Good Quality Foods.
I will highly Recommend this Hotel for anyone that is Visiting Lijiang as even their Location is Perfect at the Middle of the 3 ancient towns so traveling around is within 10-25mins and away from the noisy busy ancient towns.
It's my first time spending so much time and efforts to give this honest review because i simply think the Whole Banyan Tree Team deserves it. Impressed, Amazing, Enjoyable, Enchanting, Great Experience, It's a Only Hotel that I will Stay in Lijiang (i cancelled other hotel and extended another 2 more days in Banyan Tree)
