"The hotel was a stone throw from all main attractions in the city. Short walk to the theatre, art gallery and restaurants and bars. The staff working were lovely, well mannered, attentive and happy to help. The room was large and spacious. As you are in the city centre we found the downfall was noise levels. Drunken people and for some reason drilling could be heard in the night. The windows are thin and the seagulls enjoy a early morning sing along. All of this can't be helped by the hotel. Drinks at the bar were nice. I think the food menu could be upgraded to include vegetarian/vegan food options. So you don't need to ask. I stayed for a week and would definitely stay again."

"The Chester is close to town and a quality hotel that we suspect would be rated higher if it had the gym and pool and spa that many five star hotels have. But, they are not needed. The room was a good size, with all necessary facilities. The common areas of the restaurant are of high standard and the food was excellent. Our room had a couple of minor issues. The shower door leaked a littlw, but caused no problem. The deadlock on the door dod not engage, but we were not concerned as there was a locked door between our door and the public areas. We will happily use again, particularly as the prices were reasonable and the standards and quality were very good in our experience."

"We recently went on a family trip and stayed for two nights, making two separate bookings. On the last night, the receptionist informed us that our room was not included for children. However, the website clearly stated that children under 12 stay for free. I didn't want to argue in front of the kids, but despite the receptionist's smile, we didn’t feel welcomed at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning."

"We stayed as a couple for 3 nights in an accessible room, the room was a good size and plenty of storage space, limited channels on the smart tv which was a shame, the mattress could be doing work being updated also as you could feel the springs through it. When I first saw the shower room I was pleased however after using it I formed a different opinion, the whole floor was sailing and became very dangerous trying to walk out over the tiles. I fell and luckily my husband was able to come and help me back up, if this was an elderly person or could be a very different scenario, the breakfast was absolutely fantastic and all staff were friendly and accommodating. I would stay again but not in M accessible room with tiles on the floor"

The hotel was great, especially for the cost. The room was flawlessly clean and the amenities were superb. The climate control worked fine, and the WiFi was one of the fastest I've come across in UK hotels - especially as a complimentary WiFi. FYI, I travel a lot! I didn't get to check out the breakfast so can't comment on that. The only issue that I thought needed some improvement was with the pressure of the water in the bathroom. It was quite low and felt like I was waiting for a late train while having my bath. Although this was on the third floor, but still... Great experience overall and will return again.

Very convenient for my conference at P&J live which is literally a stone throw away. Front dest is efficient and helpful. Room is clean and spacious. No significant noise despite near the airport. About 30 min bus ride to the centre, bus stop is 2 min walk away.

The Sandman Signature Hotel gives value for every penny spent. The staff are friendly and carry out their responsibilities without promptings. The best of it all is they don't wait till the checking time of 3pm before checking you in once the room type you booked for is ready. The location is also within the City Centre with access to malls, grocery stores and public transportation

I had some pizza ordered and I can say it was the worst pizza ever. Even one from Asda is better. Never again. The restaurant was not serving food because the time of the day except some crap pizza. I have paid 17 pounds for a cold pizza with crap meat just thrown on it. It was a rip off.

Unfortunately our room smelt of damp/wet dog so went to reception to inform them and asked for an air freshener, the gentleman at reception went and spoke with someone else and then took me to see 2 other rooms, these rooms both had the same smell so we stuck with the room we were currently in as we had our 4 year old with us. The gentleman from reception came back with some air freshener spray which I was allowed to use and then he took it away again. We have stayed here a few times before and never noticed the smell. The carpet was filthy/old as well which was probably where the smell was coming from. The breakfast was okay, 1 pancake machine which took ages to make pancakes which our 4 year old wanted but because it was popular there was always a queue, could be doing with another couple of them? I don't think we will stay here again, which is unfortunate as it's where we usually stay as it's easy to get to and not right in the middle of the city and has ample parking.

Convenient location for this couple who are exploring Scotland via Rail. Nice big and comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast for £9! Can’t do much better than that! The old building has been beautiful preserved, yet enhanced, which was part of the appeal for us.
