Once in a while, we have the rare privilege of staying somewhere that exemplifies all that is good about travel. Nguluko is one such place. As the photos suggest, the hotel is beautifully designed. It’s a zen-like, modern annex, connected to Liusan’s generational home. What a curious privilege it is, to be able to join her family around the home’s traditional Naxi courtyard for a bonfire dance, before retreating upstairs to a room of luxurious comforts, including an actual Dyson hairdryer and electronic toilet. But more important is what the photos cannot capture. In an age of faceless travel, dominated by flavourless hotel chains and mass-produced group tours, it’s rare to be able to feel a connection with folks eager to share a little slice of their life with you. Whether it be a morning stroll around the old village, a sharing session on Naxi culture and Dongba script, or even the aforementioned bonfire dance (replete with lived-in details like the family’s aging hams dangling off the awnings), it harkens back to a more serendipitous style of travel that made me smile. Even meals (all-inclusive!) are a chance to experience local culture. Locally foraged bracken and morels make an appearance, as do different varieties of liangfen, and Lijiang-style baba. There’s also the most moreish chicken hotpot — which I was going to drive out of the way to Luguzhen to try — but which she ended up serving for dinner on the second night. I’m quite obsessive when it comes to food, and yet everything I wanted to try here, except perhaps the rainbow trout and yak, were cooked up and served. Some small things could be improved: many stairways lack railings for the mobility impaired, and the ‘October’ room has an odd bathroom design where the toilet cubicle barely has space to close when one is seated. But such issues pale in comparison to the overall experience. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give it is that in a world filled with a million wonderful destinations, this is one place I would choose to return to.

Due to my health condition, I had to cancel my journey to Shangri-La. Rather than seeing this as a setback, we decided to extend our time in Lijiang for one more night before heading back to Dali. Without a second thought, we knew we had to return to Rishine for our final night. Our decision to come back was based on one thing: their exceptional, heartfelt service. From the warmth and friendliness of every staff member to the meticulous considerations in the room—like the oxygen generator for comfort at this altitude and the convenient hot/cold water dispenser—this place feels like a true home away from home. But it was our return that truly cemented our love for Rishine. As our Didi car pulled up, attendant Xiao Liu was already waiting for us with a warm smile. He had quietly noted our call from five minutes earlier and timed his welcome perfectly. ”I haven't seen you for a day, it feels like three autumns have passed!” he said, greeting us with the warmth of a reunited old friend. In that moment, the fatigue from our travels simply melted away. The most touching part? They remembered our specific dietary preferences without us having to remind them. This is more than just a homestay; it's a place that remembers you and makes you feel profoundly cared for. We cannot recommend Rishine highly enough.

Highly highly recommend this stay. One of the best hotel stay i ever had. Hotel was super clean and new, as advertised on the photograph. Fantastic view of the mountain. Room facilities were superb, there was really nothing i could have asked for better. The most outstanding aspect is the service. As foreigners in china, we relied almost exclusively on the front desk for everything. Its like having a 24hr concierge/ butler. They booked drivers for us, helped us find cheaper alternatives, even offered to cook for us outside office hours because we are coming back late. You will be send to and fro the baisha old town via a buggee with no waiting time at all. Every night, there is a campfire, BBQ ,fireworks exclusively for the hotel guess. For ppl with kids, they have cute little lambs around their yard (cordon off but accessible).

I had a truly memorable stay at YUNDU and would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, tastefully designed, and warm place to stay in Lijiang. Overall, the experience was very positive, with excellent service, cozy design, and many thoughtful touches. There were a few minor areas for improvement, but they did not take away from how much I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was excellent and honestly better than many meals I had outside. The local auntie who prepares breakfast is incredibly warm and friendly. The mixian is very foreigner-friendly, light, comforting, and not oily or salty like many outside options. I requested extra vegetables and additional boiled eggs, and she was more than happy to accommodate. This care really stood out. YUNDU’s Samoyed dog, Sanjin (三斤), is truly the heart and mascot of the hotel. He is extremely friendly and intelligent. Staff would say things like “去拍照，去跟姐姐玩” and Sanjin would immediately come over. During my afternoon tea, he quietly came over and sat beside me, which was a very heart-warming moment. Upon checkout, I even received Sanjin fridge magnets and a Polaroid photo, which was incredibly thoughtful. First impressions were great. As part of the package, YUNDU arranged an airport pickup from Lijiang Airport using a clean, comfortable EV. The driver was friendly, chatty, and helpful, and the ride to the hotel was smooth and relaxing. I was pleasantly surprised with a free room upgrade. The upgraded room was spacious, perfect for morning stretching, and included a large and very clean bathtub. Bath balls and a sheet mask were provided, which was a lovely winter touch. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were a bit soft for me, but there were firmer ones available, and layering them worked well. The blanket was thick, soft, and warm, and even during power outages, I stayed comfortable. Facilities were well thought out, including a Laifen hair dryer with strong airflow, a large high-definition TV facing the bed with VIP streaming access, and a large humidifier suitable for overnight use. The bathroom layout was excellent for winter, with separated toilet and shower. The electronic toilet has heating and auto-flush, and the shower area includes warm air from above. The mirror lighting is also great for makeup. There were some minor layout quirks. There is no floor heating, and the slippers were placed far from the entrance. The electric kettle was placed on a cabinet with no power socket nearby. Service was one of YUNDU’s strongest points. Staff helped with luggage, provided room tours, and checked in regularly via WeChat. When I mentioned possible altitude discomfort, they even gifted me an oxygen tank. The boss was friendly and happily helped me take photos with Sanjin. The only small gap was the butler service. I only realised who my butler was on the last night, and one included service, a butler-accompanied visit to Baisha Ancient Town, which never happened — neither I nor the staff remembered it until I reviewed my package later on Trip.com. That said, my butler was extremely efficient in arranging transportation to Lugu Lake, with smooth coordination and reasonable pricing. The entire property is tastefully decorated, cozy, and inviting. The fireplace in the lobby is a highlight and perfect for winter evenings. During my first two nights, there were power outages. While this delayed some of my work, the room stayed warm. The upside was zero light pollution, and I could see a sky full of stars, which became one of my favourite moments of the stay. I strongly recommend YUNDU to anyone looking for a beautiful view, thoughtful design, warm service, and a cozy yet affordable stay in Lijiang. If you love Lijiang, come to Baisha. If you love Baisha, come to YUNDU.

We stayed in Stone Lodge for 3 nights in the middle of December. Let us talk about the good things first. 1. Snow Mountain View rooms can see 日照金山from bed. 2. Location is good for going to snow mountain. It takes around 20min to reach visitor centre of snow mountain. 3. Service is very good. U can ask for anything and they will provide for example bubble wrap to pack our fragile shopping. There’s also free laundry service. 4. Good for those who like the activities included in the room package. We did the Naxi home visit, horse riding and art and craft diy and enjoyed them very much. We like the afternoon tea provided too. And we can have coffee and fruits as much as we want. Now some points to note. 1. Room is a bit small for 3 of us. The toilet is like a shower cubicle that opens into the room. We only discovered the ventilation switch im the middle of the stay and was wondering why the cubicle is so stuffy, not to mention the smell. With the ventilation on, the problems are solved. The shower cubicle is opposite with the sink in between them. All open into the room with no partition around the bathroom area. The walls of the toilet and shower cubicles are frosted glass and is acceptable for me and my daughters, all ladies. 2. The village is very small. Not much to see. We went to a cafe popular on internet that can take photo on the roof with the snow mountain in the background. The drinks are ok but the pasta is not nice. Maybe that’s why this restaurant is not in the recommended list of the hotel. We did not explore the village much but from what I see, it’s just 1 short street. 3. Ask for a 3rd floor room. It has a sky roof over the bed and we can see stars when we turn off all the lights in the room. Overall, we did not regret our decision to stay here in the Stone Lodge. If the activities were not included in the package, we would not have experienced them at all.

As designers ourselves, we truly appreciated the thoughtful colour schemes, lighting choices, and smart conveniences throughout the space. Features such as the fully automatic toilet, comfortable shower, and stylish humidifier added to the sense of luxury and refinement. It is this meticulous attention to detail that truly sets this accommodation apart from others. Location: Located in Yuhu Village, a charming Naxi village, the setting is both authentic and peaceful. The village atmosphere, friendly locals, and lovely coffee shops and bakeries make it a joy to explore. A particular highlight is the close-up view of Yulong Snow Mountain, which adds a breathtaking natural backdrop to the entire experience. Customer Service & Staff: The customer service was outstanding. We received thoughtful, personalised tips and guidance to make our stay in Lijiang as enjoyable as possible—far from generic recommendations, the suggestions were clearly tailored to our personal interests and needs. The staff are exceptionally warm, friendly, and generous, and they genuinely make you feel welcome. It is evident that they love what they do, and that passion translates into an atmosphere where guests truly feel valued. The entire team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. We were deeply touched by the manager’s generosity and thoughtful parting gifts. The cabin itself is stunning: sleek, warm, and thoughtfully designed. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the mountain like a living painting. Everything felt new, clean, and incredibly cozy. But honestly? The real beauty of this place wasn't in the interiors or the view, it was in the people. The hospitality we received was unlike anything I've ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we weren't treated like guests. We were treated like family. The hosts were so genuinely warm, so deeply caring, that I kept asking myself: are all Yunnan people this kind? The sweetest moment came every morning at breakfast. A lovely grandmother from the kitchen would appear with a bowl of her homemade noodles, the most delicious, soul-warming noodles I've ever tasted. She didn't speak much, but her smile said everything. You could feel that she made them with love, just for us. It reminded me of breakfast at my own grandmother's house. They checked on us without being intrusive, made sure we had everything we needed, and every small gesture came straight from the heart. I came in with no expectations about Yunnan's people. I left with a deep belief that the people here have some of the warmest hearts I've ever known. Staying here didn't just give us a beautiful cabin with a mountain view, it gave us a memory of human warmth that will stay with us for a very long time.

遇到悠閑度假的寶藏民宿，付費升級的牧雲大床房超值到飛起。24小時隨時都是美景。民宿離玉龍雪山很近，環境優雅，前門是商業街，後院是超大停車場，店內自帶超大花園和咖啡廳，拍照出片。太適合不用亂跑打卡悠閑度假的本人。 咖啡超級好喝☕️，被brunch驚艷到。吃過之後才相信**上的點評是真實的，牆裂推薦👍👍👍 環境：不要太棒，躺床上看日出，傍晚的落日100分； 設施：齊備。第一次遇到民宿老闆捨得做這麼多公共空間的，書房；茶空間；餐廳；咖啡廳；觀景天台；露營地；重點是，對於民宿而言空間都超大的。必須點贊 服務：剋制而細心，從不主動打擾客人，體驗感實在太好。 衞生：全面解決了旅行者擔心的疑難問題。每個樓層配置了公共茶水台，礦泉水24小時任用，各種免費茶品。客房提供一次性的洗臉巾，馬桶墊，枕套，杯子。客房鋪地毯，民宿少見，必須點贊👍👍👍

I rarely write reviews for hotels, but I really loved their service. So far, this is the hotel that offers the best service. A staff member explained all the attractions and food options in Baisha Village in detail. They provide afternoon tea, evening snacks, and breakfast—all included in the hotel fees. They also offer other services like candle making and baking classes. Unfortunately, due to my packed schedule, I didn’t get to register for those classes. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my stay and the top-notch service provided.
