WE' LL COME BACK! Fantastic joy& pleasure we have had at Aquila Hotel at our stay there at Heraklion, it was our first time. Enjoyed it at breakfast, our room was so clean& with enough space with terrace& great view...Pool on 6th floor was pleasurable..All Hotel is interesting with exterior as well as interior...This hotel have so much to offer&most important to give you touch of happines at your stay! Das Frühstück und Abendessen war sehr gut, man konnte auch entspannt draußen sitzen. Drinnen gab es allerdings nicht viele Sitzplätze.
Das Hotel ist aufgeteilt in zwei Gebäude, weshalb man unter Umständen zur Rezeption oder zum Essen das Gebäude wechseln muss (andere Straßenseite). Mich hat das aber nicht gestört. Der Chef packt auch noch selber an, ob beim Abendessen oder an der Rezeption am späten Abend. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr höflich und kümmern sich gut um die Hotelgäste. Ich wurde sogar ein, zweimal auf Deutsch angesprochen.
Nach Getränken beim Abendessen hätte mich das Personal noch fragen können, aber ich ziehe dafür keinen Punkt ab. Vielleicht ist es auch so gewollt, dass die Hotelgäste in Ruhe essen und selbstständig auf das Personal diesbezüglich zukommen.
Die Strandpromenade mit einigen Bars ist nicht weit vom Hotel entfernt (5-10 Fußminuten) und Kiosks bzw eine Busstation (wird sowohl von Reiseveranstaltern als auch vom öffentlichen Nahverkehr auf Kreta genutzt) sind sogar in nur 3 Fußminuten zu erreichen.
Das Zimmer war nett und hatte auch einen Balkon. Erwähnenswert ist auch, dass das Hotel auch einen kleinen Pool besitzt.
Ich habe für 3 Nächte (Frühstück und Abendessen inbegriffen) circa 100 Euro gezahlt und das Angebot ist für dieses Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis wirklich unschlagbar.

The room was immaculate, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with a stunning view of Chania. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail in cleanliness and design was impressive. Breakfast each morning was a delight, with a wide selection of fresh, delicious options. I would highly recommend Royal Sun hotel

Super hôtel avec un accueil très chaleureux ! Nous sommes venues au tout début de la saison du coup tout n’était pas encore ouvert mais nous avons passé une très agréable voyage !
L’hôtel se trouve à 30 min de l’aéroport de Heraklion. Je vous conseille de louer une voiture pour après profiter de l’île :)

The hotel is in a great location to the town and the staff were very friendly.
I would not recommend the standard room as it was extremely small and felt claustrophobic, we did try to upgrade the day we got there but they were unfortunately fully booked, as a couple with two suitcases there was no room whatsoever and very limited hanging space so had to leave the suitcases open on the floor and climb over them to get around.
The air con had mould growing out of it and left the room smelling awful.
We were also only given two towels which are only changed once every three days, it would have been nice to get a hand towel so you aren't using the one towel for everything. This is also the case for pool towels they are only changed once every three days.
I think the hotel would benefit from an overall refresh, painting etc and the pool to be cleaned more often, although the water was clear there was green mould build up around the sides as well as the white pool loungers.
I would not say that our room was 4 stars but that may have been based on the bigger rooms that are available.

AAnastasia123I stayed here with my mom for one night, and we were both very impressed. The value for money was excellent, and the room actually exceeded my expectations—it looked even better in real life than in the photos. We had a beautiful view from the window, and the location was perfect: quiet, yet only a two-minute walk to the beach. Same for bus stop to Chania.
The staff were extremely friendly, polite, and helpful, which made us feel very welcome. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom, and it was equipped with everything we needed. It felt more like a small apartment, complete with a kitchen and a spacious balcony where we really enjoyed spending time.
We liked it so much that we even wanted to extend our stay, but unfortunately the rooms were already fully booked for our dates. Overall, a wonderful experience and a place I would definitely recommend.

VVieraskäyttäjäWe stayed here for 4 nights. I had booked a sea view room, but they said it was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi. While the jacuzzi was nice and relaxing, the sea view was quite limited, which was a bit disappointing.
The property is located in a remote and peaceful part of the island. It has excellent internet access and a decent outdoor gym. Since it is right by the sea, you can enjoy walking or running along the coast to the nearest town, Mavrikianon.
One important thing to mention is that the property does not have direct access to the sea. To swim, you need to go to either Plaka Beach, which requires a minimum spend of €40 per person to use the sunbeds, or to Mavrikianon Beach, which is much more affordable at €5 per person for the entire day. Mavrikianon Beach is very pleasant and close to markets where you can buy drinks. There are also some good food and drink spots nearby, such as Rudi’s Bar, a British-style pub, and Porto Rino, which serves great pizzas. Make sure to skip Nico’s Fish Tavern and try the Ferryman instead — you won’t regret it.
What we found most frustrating was the lack of mosquito screens on the windows. Sleeping with the windows open was not really an option, even though the natural breeze was wonderful. Our room had air conditioning, but we tend to get sick sleeping with it on. There was a ceiling fan as well, but it is a shame to miss out on the fresh air simply because of a missing screen.
The breakfast was also a disappointment. There were very few options, the coffee was not good, and the omelettes were overcooked.
The most inconvenient part of our stay was the parking system. You have to check in and out with security every time, which felt excessive and time-consuming. It gave the impression of entering a high-security zone, not a relaxing holiday resort.
Overall, it was a good experience with some nice features, but for the price, it lacks comfort and convenience in a few key areas.

VVieraskäyttäjäI knew as soon as I heard goats with their little bells on that I’d like this place. Quiet, quaint, country accomodation on the way to Samaria Gorge.
The family who run it were all lovely, and mum even made me up a picnic to take on the hike before dad gave us a lift to the starting point.
Maybe it’s because it never happens back home, but I ordered a beer downstairs upon arrival, and got given free olives - that made my absolute day and, though previously incorruptible, my loyalty was bought instantly and totally.
I also had the rabbit fry up thingo, which tasted great, although the salad itself was even better, though it curse my carnivorous tongue to say it.
The bedroom had a great balcony for looking out over the green and rocky hills. Bed was super comfy, and it actually was a little colder way up in the Omalos elevation (in June) which made sleep come very easily for those like me who run hot. Big fluffy blanket in the cupboard though for those of you who like to be warmer.
The bathroom is a bit small and being on the tall end of the height spectrum I had to be wary not to knock myself out on the hand basin when using the toilet. But if you’re under 6 foot you’ll patting your genetics on their small back.
The building is relatively old so expect to hear some footfalls as other guests go past your room, but other than that, blissfully quiet overnight.
The daughter of the family speaks really good English which helped a couple times, when regretfully I seemed to have forgotten all my Greek (which I rudely hadn’t learned prior to arriving).
I can’t recommend this homely hotel enough, so if you’re on your way to hike the gorge, park your car here and stay the night. Then stay in Agia Romelli at the very end of the hike. Then come back to Omalos the next day and get some home style cooking back into your weary body.
Or whatever floats your ferry.

Mmasle4koJäämme Sunrise-asunnoissa kesäkuun alussa. Ensinnäkin haluaisin kiittää suuresti Nicko ja Tonya, hotellinjohtaja ja hänen vaimonsa. He ovat hämmästyttävät ihmiset, erittäin tervetullut, ystävällinen, osaavat ja ammattitaitoinen. He antoivat meille tuntea kotona oleskelumme aikana. Hotelli itse sijaitsee vuorella, mutta se antaa sinulle paras näkymä auringonlasku ja auringonnousu. Heillä on kaunis katto terassi aurinkosänkyjä, varjoja, pöytää ja tuoleja. Se on kaunis paikka meren ja vuoristo näkymät katsella auringonlaskua ja pitää illallinen rentouttavassa ilmapiirissä. Huone oli hyvin puhdas ja tilava kaikesta mitä tarvitset ja se oli puhdistettu 4 kertaa oleskelumme aikana (10 päivää). Kaikki vuode- ja pyyhkeet muuttuivat joka kerta kun he puhdistivat huoneen. Puhdistus oli myös hämmästyttävä. Hän teki niin hyvää työtä. Uima-allas oli hyvin puhdas ja erittäin miellyttävä, vesitarkastuksen teki Nicko päivittäin. Monet aurinkosänkyjä uima-allas. Hotelli oli noin 10 minuutin kävelymatkan rannalle ja 5 minuutin kävelymatkan supermarketille, joka oli melko hyvä ja oli kaikki mitä tarvitsimme. Ravintolat ja tavernit sijaitsevat kaikki kävelymatkan päässä, mutta jos haluat vuokrata auton tai skooterin, Nicko auttaa sinua myös. Hän on erittäin lähellä ja apua. Olimme erittäin tyytyväisiä valintaan majoitusta ja suosittelemme erittäin Sunrise huoneistoja muille vieraille.

VVieraskäyttäjäThe hotel is pretty clean and modern. We found the beds to be very comfy and the hotel's location was pretty convenient near the old town and port areas. The rooms are well appointed with a couple of chairs, a work area, a coffee/tea station, big TV and a large bathroom. There were enough plugs around the room and many switches with light settings to get it just right. We appreciated the balcony and the view outside but there were some cars that drove by with very loud music each night. The only significant complaint we had was that the bathroom shower leaked very easily in our rooms and got the floor wet near the toilet.
The breakfast at the hotel was pretty good with a variety of Crete foods like cheese and pastries. There was fresh scrambled eggs and a very good sausage available as well. The breakfast also had a large variety of preserved fruits that paired well with the Greek yoghurt and included oranges, cherries, grapes and figs.
We appreciated that the hotel had inexpensive parking nearby at Central Parking which was 7 Euros per day with unlimited in/out privileges as long as we got a stamp when we got in. The hotel also had a restaurant that offered room service and there was a popular cafe just across the street. This hotel was a good base for exploring Crete with a convenient location near the airport and the price was very fair for us.
