We had an amazing stay at this hotel and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The value for money is outstanding—everything you get here easily exceeds the price. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very pleasant to stay in, making it a great place to relax after a long day. The service was exceptional. The staff were always willing to help with anything we needed, no matter what it was, and they were consistently super kind, polite, and welcoming. You can really feel that they care about the guests. The location is perfect, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it very easy to get anywhere in the city quickly and efficiently. Overall, a fantastic stay—highly recommended!

We absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers! We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down. Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find. Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!

Splendid sea view from a beautiful, large, bedroom. 2 beds instead of one big. This could have been better to me. Service is excellent. People are nice, always trying to help, being resourceful on how you may handle your visit of the island. Top notch people. The real ”could be better” thing to me is, the restaurant that close really early (8.30pm if my memory is good), does server only buffet for 80kY. The buffet is of quality mixing Japanese, Chinese and Western styles of food. And also comes with nice desserts. However, having the choice to get only one A la carte dish could be a real plus. I personally do not want to get a full buffet for every and each of my diners. And if you do not have a car, finding another place to eat may become a challenge. There is nothing around at a walking distance except a supermarket. The breakfast is definitely qualitative. And if you intend to move early for visiting, the hotel can prepare you a breakfast and a lunch box for no overcharge. Basic but good and appreciated. To have another plus, they serves a local craft beer made with local cedar trees. Quite a good and interesting one.

大病治療を終えてのお疲れ会での宿泊でした。体調が良くない父親の為早めにチェックインしたにも関わらず早めに入室させて頂き親切な対応に有り難いでした。ウェルカムドリンクやお菓子もホッとひと息してよかったです。お料理も工夫されて見た目も綺麗でとても美味しいでした。何と言っても職員の方々の優しさ丁寧に応待して頂き気持ち良かった。欲を言えばお風呂までの階段にスロープあればと、お部屋のトイレがちょっと狭くて使い難かったかな？と。皆んなゆっくりできとても気持ちよく出発できた。ありがとうございました。

Good stay, with clean room and comfortable bed. Breakfast has more of western style, less of Japanese food, but the view of Sakurajima can be seen from restaurant. However in the morning, you may be eating under the sunshine, so better to go for breakfast either very early or much later, not when 8 plus as the sun is strong and you may be given a window seat for solo traveller and when the restaurant is packed.

Aloitetaan hyvistä puolista. Tämä hotelli on käytännössä yhteydessä JR Kyushu Shinkasen / Kagoshimachuo -asemaan, joka on yhteydessä AMU Plaza -ostoskeskukseen. Sillä on myös raitiovaunupysäkki aivan ostoskeskuksen ulkopuolella (Kagoshima-chuo eki mae -raitiovaunupysäkki). Joten sijainnin suhteen mielestäni tämä hotelli täyttää kaikki vaatimukset. Vastaanoton nainen, joka tarkisti minut, oli erittäin ystävällinen, mutta meidän molempien piti käyttää tulkkia kommunikoidaksemme 😂 . Uskon, että siinä kaikki hyvistä puolista. Siirrytään sitten huonoihin puoliin. Tämä hotelli alkaa näyttää ikäänsä (eikä hyvällä tavalla). Huone oli pieni, kylpyhuone on vintage-tyylinen, se tuntui kostealta ja sain allergiakohtauksen. Kolme valitusta, jotka minulla oli: 1) Katon lähellä oleva kiinteä ilmastointi puhalsi suoraan sänkyyn, mikä oli todella epämukavaa. Uskon, että tämä vaikutti allergiakohtaukseeni. 2) Sänky ja tyyny eivät olleet kovin mukavat. En nukkunut hyvin parina yönä. Tai se saattoi olla vain ilmastointi. 3) Hotelli ei tarjonnut pullotettuja vesiä. Mieluummin haluaisin, että he poistaisivat halvan muovisen hammasharjan ja kamman ja tarjoaisivat sen sijaan pullotettuja vesiä.

I stayed two nights. This is the second review for the same accommodation. I was very satisfied. This accommodation is really exceptional value for money. Very grateful for a great experience. Thank you ”Rest & Lodge Syou” for everything, especially the free airport pickup and drop-off. Very much appreciated.

First time coming and loved this place and the hotel will come again! Sight seeing is convenient

Even though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book: This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options. The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors. Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor. There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.
