The Moonraker Hotel ★★★

"Odotimme hotellissa, mutta en menisi niin pitkälle, että välttäisin sitä kokonaan, en voi suositella sitä tai nähdä itse palaavan. Huone, joka oli mainostettu olevan kuninkaallinen sängy, oli pettymys osoittautui kaksinkertainen. Hotellin painopisteen vihreitä valintoja, huone oli kestämätön lämmin saapuessa. Meidän piti avata sekä ikkunat ja ovet vain jäähdyttää se. Tämä perusmukaisuuden puute vaikutti ekologisen merkintöjen vastaisesti. Lisäksi oli poissa pieniä mutta ratkaisevia tiloja, kuten hiustenkuivaaja, ja joitakin valoja ei toiminut. Yksinkertaista puhelinta ei ollut helppoa pyytää näitä kadonneita kohteita, lisätä yleiseen haitta. Aamiaiskokemus oli yhtä pettymys. Niin kutsuttu buffet koostui pieni, vaikkakin miellyttävä, mannermainen aamiainen. Kuitenkin, kysytty heti saapuessamme, jos haluaisimme maksaa ylimääräistä £10 keitetty aamiaista, asettaminen tuntui harhaanjohtava. £14.50, pelkkä mannermainen aamiainen ei tuntenut hyvää arvoa.  Restaurantilla oli myös ilmoitus siitä, että valikosta tehdään muutoksia £2.50 maksu. Ymmärrän kuitenkin, että tämä erityispolitiikka tuntui liiallisen ja epätoivoiselta. Nämä kysymykset pahenivat henkilökohtaisten kosketusten puute, joka muodostaa perustan hyvälle asiakaspalvelulle. Kukaan ei kysynyt checkoutissa tai aamiaisen aikana, miten meidän oleskelu oli ollut, pieni mutta vaikutusvaltainen gesti, joka olisi voinut lievittää joitakin meidän pettymyksiä. Taustalla tuntuu, että olen ylimaksunut noin 20-30% vastaanottamani arvoon verrattuna. Tietäen, mitä teen nyt, en olisi todennäköisesti valinnut tätä hotellia oleskeluun."

"The Green is a stunning house, beautifully and thoughtfully restored, but what really makes it special is the warmth and hospitality. The hosts seem to have perfected that lovely balance of being welcoming and attentive while allowing you to completely relax and enjoy their beautiful home. Our room (Larkspur) was extremely comfortable, with gorgeous bed linen, large fluffy white towels and hand and shower products that smelled divine. There are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the complimentary tea and biscuits when we arrived to the honesty bar…everything feels generous without being overdone. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, starting with homemade granola and Earl Grey poached pears so good I was tempted to have seconds! It was one of those breakfasts where you could tell real thought had gone into every detail. And then there are the gardens. We loved wandering around them in the morning, discovering the beautiful trees and planting, the Victorian kitchen garden and even purple tomatoes! The whole setting is peaceful and rather magical. We only stayed for one night and genuinely wished it had been longer. The Green is one of those rare places that feels both special and wonderfully relaxed. We would return in a heartbeat.
