"It goes without saying that the location is excellent, right across from the Porta Nigra; this is one of the advantages, along with the relatively low price, the spacious room (also equipped with a fridge and kettle) and bathroom, and the kindness of the receptionist and staff in general. The on-site parking is also helpful, costing €15 per day (reservation required). Cons: the reception is closed after 6:00 PM (if you plan to arrive later on your first day, you must call by 5:00 PM and they will arrange key collection), there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only at the reception, and it only works if you connect one at a time, and the air conditioning in the rooms is supplied by a sort of adjustable and movable column, which, however, doesn't cool sufficiently (considering this summer's temperatures...). I should also note that the pillows are square and very, very soft. Recommended for an unpretentious stay with all the essential amenities. There's an excellent bakery next door for breakfast (they also make cappuccinos, coffee, etc.), otherwise the hotel offers it for 18 euros per person."

"We received a warm welcome and had booked two queen-size and one king-size, the latter with a river view. You really had to look very closely to see even a bit of the river. The room was also quite a bit smaller than the queen-size and had sloping walls, meaning you had to be careful, especially in the dark. Unfortunately, there was no coffee in the room, but the breakfast was fine. The city center is within walking distance, making it a great base. It was disappointing, however, that our rooms hadn't been cleaned after we returned from the city. No clean towels was the least pleasant problem, but fortunately, the reception was kind enough to provide them."

"we stayed above the sun terrace looking down at the bier garten. It is a nice treed setting by a creek and below vineyards. a bus stop outside takes you right to the Roman gate in old town Trier. bus 81 or bus 6 on weekdays. the reception helpful with bus info, but note return not to the same stop but dismount at oliweg entrance and follow short path to back of hotel. otherwise u r in for a long ride. For return take stop 5 near the gate and info centre. This resort has everything with a pleasant bier garten, great breakfasts, sports lounge and cozy nooks if eating inside and the garten has a retractable roof. Had the pool to myself and the streamside path is pleasant and crossing over the road you can access vineyard walkways with great views. I wasn't in love with my bed, but my spouse had no problem...that's my only complaint. There is a big staff and they are personable, pleasant and helpful. Definitely hard-working. I traded in a day's cleaning for a brew from their haus and i liked the dunkel the best. there are cushions and comforters everywhere, everything is thought of and looked after, there are even e-bike chargers in the parking lot."

"We arrived at 11 o'clock in the evening, and there was a little brother waiting for us. The suite in the room was great. But there is a German aunt at the front desk. Great murder, we went to dinner in the morning, said that there was no reservation for children, shouting at the restaurant. When I checked out, I went to pay the bill. I had to say that the four of us had charged us 200 euros. In fact, we had two adults with a 12-year-old child. After I explained to her, she changed the fee, but she had a bad attitude. We were in-house guests and were not enemies. This hotel is the best hotel in the town, there is such a front desk, sorry!"

"We arrived at the city at about 20:00. We had booked an average hotel only to be in the centre of the city to enjoy it. It was a very bad decision. The "hotel" (MEA hotel) was no hotel with "normal" reception. Noone was available. The instructions were only in German. There was noone at the phone, but only an answering mashine !!!. At the entrance of the building there was just a "box" for electronic check in. No telephone No to call for any issue/instructions. After various calls, eventually, someone called us back, and we did the check in!!! The city at 21:00 (after all the previous), was very disapointing. All the shops closed, just an empty city. Very-very few on the streets, no cafes, no bars, no restaurants open. Just an empty city!!! We hardy found a still open (and closing -last customer) super market, to buy some food and a bottle of water (as there was noone in the room). Additionaly we paid 18 euro for the overnight parking. I wish we had booked a much better hotel, with parking, outside the city, and visit (few hours) the city only during the day, when the shops are open."

"Pros: Short walk from the Central Station, directly opposite the Porta Nigra, within short walking distance from the main tourist sites and many dining options nearby. Its location is unparalleled Cons: As pointed out by other reviewers, room and furniture is very outdated. There is only a bath-tub to take a shower so do note if one has mobility issue. Biggest issue for me was the pillows: it was so soft I got a neck-ache after 2 nights, and the air-con was not working during a relatively warm summer, fortunately the window could be opened, otherwise it would have been a disaster!!!"
