The Houtman Retreat is very special property. Located between Saugerties and Woodstock, the house is sited on a quiet country road, and while the property is private, it is not isolated. The interior is just as special: 4 bedrooms and three baths, well separated for privacy but with spacious common areas for comfortable conviviality. (We can offer a 2-bedroom, 2-bath version for less cost if you need a smaller space.)There is a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, and a gas fireplace in the sitting room. There is a spacious kitchen, well stocked, and in another area is a prep kitchen just in case you’re cooking for a crowd. And if two kitchens aren’t enough, there is an outdoor kitchen in back with a gas grill, a smoker, and a pizza oven!For fun in summer, we have a 4-foot deep heated pool that is available 3rd week in May through third week in September. The hot tub is available all year round. And for more fun any time, a lovely walk down the path behind the property lands you next to the stream. Take a lazy walk along the cleared path, or just sit and look and the water flowing and the wildlife moving about. The style was carefully chosen and executed. The atmosphere is calming and restful and, above all, comfortable. The upstairs master provides a king-size bed. THE HIDDEN COTTAGE is tucked away in the woods on 4.3 acres, off a quiet country road where you can have privacy without being isolated. Located halfway between the Village of Saugerties and the Town of Woodstock, it is easy to get to anywhere you want to be. But the cottage is so low-key and relaxing, you may not want to go anywhere else! This special home was converted from a garage and added onto, providing over 1500 square feet of space. The common space is large and airy, open concept, with everything you want nearby. The woodstove adds coziness and warmth on cold winter nights or cool summer evenings. We have a TV for streaming and a Foosball table for playing. The spacious dining table seats 6 for the enjoyment of the meals you prepare--the kitchen is well stocked with appliances, cookware, and utensils.The bedrooms are nicely sized and comfortable, and with a dedicated workspace in both the office room and in the master bedroom, it’s easy to do your work and have the quiet you need. The master bedroom has a king-size bed. The room is large and open and looks out onto the backyard where you’ll find woods and a stream that runs pretty much all year round. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The attractive bathroom is a good size with a tub/shower combination. The separate office has a desk, and there is a full-size bed for a teen or a couple of little kids if need be.Then there is the screen porch, large enough for enjoying your morning coffee, or lunch, or dinner if you wish, while watching the wildlife. The hand-built stone fire pit is out back, near the bank of the stream if you want to enjoy the outdoors while actually being outdoors.
