River Haven is a two bedroom, two bath cabin located directly on the Nottely River in Murphy North Carolina. From the screened in porch you look out over the clear flowing river. The riverside patio is a great place to enjoy the firepit when not fishing, tubing, kayaking, hiking, or exploring Murphy and the amazing river walk. Nottely River Winery is only about 6 miles away, and it's beautiful. And lets not forget the Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino just 12 miles away. So you can relax at the cabin and do nothing at all, or do as much as you can if relaxing is not the only thing on the agenda. The Ranger Community Center has a kayak/canoe launch so from there a really nice float down to our place. When the water is low, about a 1.5 hour float, to as fast as 30 minutes if the water is flowing strong. Fishing from our bank is fun, and wade fishing even more so. We are at the end of the road so very peaceful and quiet. It seems like you are a million miles away from anything, yet downtown Murphy is nearby along with great restaurants and shopping.Disclaimer, VRBO shows in the map area that we are a one minute walk to a lake, we are not. The route is largely paved with a very short stretch of gravel road that is easily driveable and does not require a 4 wheel drive to access. There is plenty of off-road parking; the cabin has its own driveway.Murphy has lots of fun things to do, including breweries, wineries, restaurants, shopping, and art. Harrah's Casino is right in town. This was a horse rescue barn that we have turned into a home on the inside, it still has stall doors in some areas. We have blackout curtains in upstairs and downstairs bedroom area to keep the sun out if needed. We love the sound of the rain on the metal roof and the sound of peace and quiet most of the time. We are on 28 acres and there are trails on the property great for walking, mountain biking or four wheeling, some are even wide enough for a Jeep! We are not far from many hiking trails, whitewater rafting, waterfalls, lakes, the Harrah's Casino in Murphy and downtown shopping in little mountain towns. Large windows upstairs are great for viewing wildlife, we love to watch deer and turkey from there. We also enjoy the escape from technology we do have internet via Starlink it is satellite based so bad weather may affect signal strength, we have very little cell phone reception on the property (depends on your carrier and you can log onto Wi-Fi for better cell service) No cable TV but we get many channels on an antenna and have Roku for streaming shows. We have a lot of movies, indoor and outdoor games so no one is ever bored. It is a great place to spend quality time with family and friends. There is a scavenger hunt along 2 of the trails (list of clues is in book on buffet) great for both kids and adults.
