We suggest wearing comfortable shoes if you plan on exploring all of it. Of the 30 acres, approx. 13 acres is grassland filled with natural wildflowers during the spring and summer. The rest of the acreage is forest with a private trail that weaves through the trees and across a stream. There is a lot of wildlife including otters, northern pygmy owls, belted kingfishers, bald eagles, ravens, wood peckers, goldfinches, hummingbirds, tree frogs and etc. Great for birdwatching! There is a gazebo on the island in the middle of the lake that makes a quiet spot for reading or bird watching. Please keep front gate closed to keep deer out. The 13 acre grassy area is fully deer fenced. Dogs can go off leash. The guest suite stretches out from the main house with its own entrance. This space also contains a queen size pull-out couch. A warning, however, this space is partially finished and has exposed drains and ductwork that can be noisy. Our chalet is family friendly with kids toys, books, dishes, high chair, baby monitor and pack n play for your little ones.
