The overall experience was good. There were some issues with housekeeping which was annoying. Service and staff were very good. Mr Raj received us very well late at night. Service at the restaurant was exceptional.

*Review: One-Night Stay at Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata* I recently stayed for one night at the Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata and would rate my overall experience as a 6 out of 10. The hotel has a lot going for it, especially in terms of its location and general ambiance, but there are also a few aspects that could use improvement. To begin with the positives, the hotel is situated in a very convenient and well-connected area. Being close to central Kolkata, it’s easy to access various parts of the city, whether for business or leisure. The immediate surroundings are pleasant and relatively peaceful, which added to the comfort of the stay. The room provided was decent—clean, well-organized, and equipped with the expected amenities for a four-star property. The bed was comfortable, and the room had adequate lighting and storage space. The bathroom was functional and clean, although not particularly luxurious. In terms of comfort and upkeep, the room met my expectations. One feature I particularly appreciated was the hotel’s gym facility. It was clean, well-maintained, and had a decent range of equipment for a quick workout. For a short stay, it was more than sufficient and a welcome amenity for anyone looking to stay active while traveling. However, one significant downside was the dining experience. The biggest letdown was the limited food choices, especially in the set dinner menu. While the staff were polite and the service was timely, the menu lacked variety and felt quite restrictive. For a property of this category, I had expected a broader range of options, including some regional or seasonal specials. The lack of flexibility and limited appeal of the dinner options certainly took away from an otherwise comfortable stay. I have just spend some time at Howard Johnson by Wyndham Kolkata and what a good surprise. The hotel team is taking a good care of the place and makes you feel very comfortable. The restaurant is something, food is super tasty and I have enjoyed very much all I have ate. I will definitely come back. Big thank to sandip Ghosn that brings me my room service, Nikhil mondal who takes care of my room everyday, Bhabna from the restaurant but as well the people I didn’t name, from the kitchen to restaurant staff and the lobby, that are all part of the great job. Honestly speaking, the hotel was great. The location was a bit far from the airport, BUT it is located at one of the cleanest places in Kolkata, making it a huge plus. Now for the details: Room: 5/5. The decoration, the ambiance, the wall art. Lobby and other places: 5/5. Absolutely loved the design and hotel architecture. Bathroom: 3.5/5. Honestly, it is a basic bathroom, but I expected more from a 5 star hotel, even on the cheaper rooms. There was no bathtub, which I feel is fairly common everywhere I’ve stayed in. ONE PROBLEM: A major issue I have faced was after turning on the water. It had a smell, which I am guessing is from the river beside it. I feel like the Hotel should add a water filter to avoid this problem, because the smell doesn’t go away until the water is turned on for at least 5-10minutes. If I wasn’t South Asian, I probably couldn’t have taken the smell as easily as I did. I would put this in High Priority to fix for attracting many more customers. Bar and Food: 4/5. Good collection, great taste but very expensive. Lastly, a shoutout to Al Jabbar and Al Sahid from the Housecleaning service, they were extremely polite, fast, very thorough with their cleaning and very well mannered. Absolutely a delight to talk to and learn about the local areas. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Very rare to find such good hotels, with some minor flaws.

Golden Parkk Hotel is perfect for a Westerner that wants excellent customer service, toilet paper, free water (pani in Bengali), and a large room to call home for how ever long your stay. I was in Kolkata for three weeks and only lasted four nights in a hostel here…they are rough! Golden Parkk Hotel is very clean and doesn’t cost a fortune! I paid $52 USD per night and it was worth every dollar! If you want a good nights sleep, ask to not be located on the 4th floor…there is a nightclub on that floor and you can hear the bass thumping all night long. But don’t that deter from staying here! All the staff are so kind and work hard to make you feel welcome every evening when you come back to rest! There is a small sofa, large writing desk, and free WiFi so you can spread out of staying for a while like I did. The Maidan Metro Station is only an easy three minute walk…this stop is basically the middle of the North/South subway line and gives you easy access to wherever you want to go. Park Street is only a 15 minute walk and the Victorian Memorial is another 15. I had a great experience staying here and recommend it with 6 STARS IF I COULD!
