"Location is superb, right in the middle of Kathmandu, walking distance to Thamel. Other interesting landmarks are easy to reach with the helpful taxi drivers (always present outside the gates). Hotel staff are very kind, sincerely engage in conversation and helpful in providing tourist information. Rooms are cost and warm decorated. Hotel has a beautiful garden suitable for a relaxing stroll. Swimming pool is nice and very clean! I highly recommend this hotel above other hotels in Kathmandu. "This stay is value for money! Enjoyed their clean bathrooms and well-maintained rooftop restaurant. Receptionists are helpful too. You can book airport transfer for departure on the spot at 1000 rupees. I have nothing but good stuff to say about this lovely hostel, tucked away in a quieter area amidst the bustle of Thamel. Even met friendly roommates who are respectful of each other’s space and privacy here. This adds a little something special to my short stay here in Kathmandu. "The Hotel Barahi Kathmandu is in a great location, walking distance to great souvenirs in Thamal, tourist sites like the Garden of Dreams and the former Royal Palace. The hotel staff were so friendly, engaging and helpful. The hotel has a pool up on level 7 with great views of Kathmandu. The only flaw with the pool is it is surrounded by the restaurant, so no one swims in it. I had a suite the room was beautiful, very happy with the cleanliness and room service. The only flaw with the room is that it backed on to the service area for staff who were all working very hard, but there was banging and clanging all night and morning."

"This is the second time I stayed at Ramada Encore in Thamel. I was not wrong to choose it again. Absolutely everything is good here ... the staff, the room,the breakfast (oh my, sooooo good), the location, the friendliness of every single employee, from the door in. A special recognition to Nikhil in the reception, whose service and support with a sincere smile is as comforting as the sunshine on an early autumn morning. And to the staff and therapists on the spa where I took a couple of massages that were superb. Kathmandu is a beautiful, yet hectic city. Thamel even more, so to have this oasis to come to after a long day wandering around or trekking is something to treasure. In my case, this is even more meaningful as I left all my stuff to go hiking on the Himalayas for several days, coming back to the hotel with the certainty that I was going to be happily and truly welcome. Again, I was not wrong. Thank you for making a difference and for understanding what the word service means. "We knew the service would be good as soon as we booked, and within hours we received a welcome email, listing the ways we could contact them if we needed to. On the pick up at the airport, they were speedy and efficient and the taxi ride only took us 20 minutes with traffic. As we walked through the door we were blown away by the interior decoration, only then to find that hotel had been a former palace! Historic artifacts and pictures were strewn through the hallways and the outside only matched the royal feel with perfection. We stayed in the royal suite, with a big bed and balcony. The staff were great, the breakfast was standard for off peak times and although the location isn't in the depth of Thamel, the area most will go out for eating and drinking, it was within 30 minutes drive of most landmarks and as it was the ambassedy/ office worker area, there was a nice vibe. There were some things that can't be controlled. The hotel did a good job of providing heat as the weather in February is still chilly. The pollution was real. Especially as you walk nearer the streets, something to think about if you are sensitive to this. Apart from that, It was all really wonderful. "Small boutique hotel with amazing service, the people are so helpful. Shree Jana at the reception is very cheerful, she always greetings the guest whenever come in and out of the hotel. My flight was early past midnight, they gave special price to stay at the hotel till 3 hours before my departute. Breakfast also good, serves lots of fruits. Location is close to all the shops and restos.Recommended for travellers who are coming to Kathmandu and want to stay around Thamel. Thank you for all the staff at Kumari Boutique hotel."

"Whilst the location and rooms are terrific, the service was absolutely awful. We went to the bar to have some coffee and got no acknowledgment of any sort from any of the waiters for 15 minutes and only after complaining did we get served. Dinner was late by an hour and again only hit served after complaining. Either the staff haven’t been trained to standard or the management is so weak that they can’t see the indifference the staff are showing their guests"
