The hostel itself is really okay. Relatively clean and well-equipped. However, the price increase of €36 per night during public holidays is ridiculous. If you're going to charge such prices you should deliver a flawless experience. However, the furniture was still being set up and when I arrived they handed me the bed sheets. This is the first accommodation ever where I had to put on the sheets on my own. Further, a few rules of conduct would be appropriate. Some guests behave extremely uncivilized. I don't know if this is normal, but nobody seems to wash their hands with soap. Even urinating without splashing water next to the toilet is apparently too difficult for some. One guest simply took my laundry out of the dryer and put it in a dirty bucket. Some laundry was lying on the dirty floor. Another guest was smoking in the bathroom, and when I confronted him he lied instead to apologise. How can adults behave like little children... The staff were very friendly and tried to take my anger seriously. Ultimately, nothing was done to improve the situation. The area around the hostel is pretty boring too. Overall not a price worthy stay. Other hostels in Shanghai seem not better though.
