Lakeside Hotel

"I have never written a review like this, but people need to be warned. We booked this hotel largely because of the pool and lakeside location. When we arrived, not only was the pool unusable, but there was no wifi, our room had no air conditioning, there was little to no protection from the insane amount of bugs invading our room, and the shower didn't drain. The rooms are not even close to being worth the price they charge and were clearly neglected after many years of little maintenance. We reported everything immediately. The next morning, the manager responded with excuses and even tried to shift the blame onto us. After a heated argument, they reluctantly agreed to refund our second night so we could leave. However, they claimed to not have any cash and the only option was to wait until Monday morning. We didn't have enough cash to pay for an alternative on Saturday evening, so we had to head back to Lilongwe. The weekend was ruined. The owners live in Lilongwe and clearly don't care enough to invest ANY money back into the hotel. Absolutely zero maintenance or customer service training. The best thing about this hotel is the incredible photographer who took the pictures you can see on Google Maps! By the way, those pictures are like 10 years old. Very misleading. Avoid this place. There are far better options."

Safari Beach Lodge

"Overpriced tourist lodge ,and need of maintenance. Mattresses are a disaster. Power was off most of the time although generator on site.The toilets in the room we stayed in had no seat, the shower was scary . The pool is a nice touch that almost makes up for the fact that the beach access is garbage here. Better you go to sunbird Livingstonia .The surroundings at the lodge were beautiful, but again all the furniture was falling apart and just looked very tired. We will be staying somewhere else the next time we go to Senga Bay."

Blue Waters by Serendib

"The experience from checking in the gentleman’s attitude and finding our room not ready then waiting for lunch and the service also being terrible. Food came from the kitchen not covered and the orders were mixed up. They gave us left over salad instead of coleslaw as the meal we ordered stated. Then breakfast was another terrible experience. We ordered the eggs with the chef (Vincent) to make for us and when he finished he was just screaming to us to come collect ourselves and the eggs were all burned. The wifi and tv never worked until we checked out. We really appreciated the guy on the Saturday who was very helpful , he looks after the pool etc.."

"I stayed here for 13 nights on business in October. Being in my own I was concerned but I need not have worried. I was welcomed from the word go. It’s a very safe hotel with security visible and not once did I feel unsafe. The staff to guest ratio is high and so there is always someone to help it look after you and are very willing to do so. The food is what you would expect from a hotel of this quality. The beach is lovely and the staff are so flexible they serve you there even at night."
