"Perfect stay! Although one night is bit too short! The owner was very friendly and helpful, they reached out to us the day before our arrival and asked if we need pickup from the train station. Once we arrived, a lady came to pick us up from outside of the ancient city as the car couldn’t drive into the ancient town. Free water in the room and we were given some free shaji juice and vinegar. The room was incredibly clean and beautiful with the ancient look furnitures and comfy at the same time. We would love to stay again if ever come back. Highly recommend this room for couples!"

"Location: Located in the heart of Pingyao just a few minutes from many of the main attraction and the flag tower Hotel: Modern and clean rooms with Japanese toilet and a good bed. The ambiance of the hotel is also very nice designed around an old Qing dynasty courtyard Service: the hotel team picked me up and dropped me off at the high speed train station in Pingyao which worked flawlessly. In general the hotel team was very attentive and tried their best to solve any questions. Can definitely recommend as a foreigner to stay here"

"The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, with very nice details. They also left us some sweets and tea as a welcome gift, and every day they gave us a large bottle of water. The only thing I didn’t like is that during the day people come to take photos at the property, and there is quite a lot of noise until almost 10pm. Sometimes it can be annoying to hear people taking photos right outside your room. Apart from that, the accommodation is great."

"It's safe to say this was the best hotel in China so far (and I've been to many cities). They offer a free pickup service to and from the city gate, from where you can easily reach the train station using a taxi (around 20 RMB). The hotel is located in the center of the ancient city, which really boosts the great vibe it gives. The hotel buildings are very old but in fantastic shape (like built yesterday). It really feels amazing just walking to your room through the country yard. The whole staff was fluent in English and extremely welcoming and generous. The room itself was very spacious and tremendously clean. It had all amenities needed like a heating and cooling AC, exclusive wifi router. The bath had extra shoes and even a hairdryer. We got fresh toothbrushes and toothpaste. The bath tub is also amazing and the rain shower has great temperature (which is important to me, as I don't like fiddling with the water mixer). If you plan to stay in Pingyao (ancient city) I can wholeheartedly recommend this place and will definitely book it again for my next trip to pingyao."

"Cosy historical building done up very nicely. Room was well renovated, owner super friendly and very accommodating, we asked for more water, toilet paper, different type of breakfast etc all happy to oblige. 10 minutes walk to light show, 10m walk to center of ancient city where most of the historical sites were. 10m walk to outside where the best food is..DO NOT eat inside the old city, food outside much better. Owner also arranged for car to take us to Wang Family compound and Shuanglian temple at much better price than I could find anywhere online. and private transfer to/from train station as well. Very happy I booked to stay at this location. Breakfast was EXCELLENT"

"This is without doubt the ideal place to stay in Pingyao Gucheng. It is located pretty much equidistant from the 4 gate towers - smack in the middle of the ancient town. It is right at the edge of the no-car zone (which is approximately the Southern half of the Gucheng), and this means that the hotel's car can drop you off right at the hotel's gate, and there is no need to roll your luggage down a street or transfer from car to electric cart. The Gucheng's main street is 5 minutes' walk away, easy access to all the restaurants, shops and main attractions. The hotel oozes old world charm, yet is up-to-date with modern amenities like heating in both room and bathroom, comfortable beds, key cards, etc. Hygiene and service were impeccable. The driver picked us up from and dropped us back at the high-speed train station on time, front desk staff checked on our needs all the time, helped with our bags (driver calling ahead before arriving), gave us daily fruit platters and water, etc. We had a fantastic time, and felt more taken care of than anywhere else on this month-long trip in China. Definitely recommend this hotel."

Every brick and stone tells a story. Every street and alley narrates tales of the past and present. Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness. The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance. Additionally, we have incorporated environmental and humanistic sciences to adopt a modern, luxurious style within the rooms, equipped with smart guest control systems, custom-made bathrooms, and ergonomically designed memory foam bedding and mattresses. The mansion has been transformed into a masterpiece that seamlessly blends ancient craftsmanship with modern technology. After a century of existence, the ancient courtyard has been reborn as the “Kang Qian Ji Mansion.” We respect the original appearance of the cultural relics, preserving the principle of “etiquette” and emphasizing rectitude, with a strong vertical axis and balanced symmetry in the architectural style. Yet, within the interior, modern elements of light luxury and elegance have been integrated, blending tradition with modernity to add an extra touch of comfort and modernity to your trip to Pingyao.
