"The location is perfect and the check in/ out process is very smooth. There’s only one problem that annoyed us was the doors and the windows in our room caused a very loud noise whenever strong wind outside. Perhaps we stayed in Level 7, lower level might won’t face this kind of noises I think? But overall is good for the cleanliness. The room environment also good since they refurbished their hotel. The view from our room are superb!"

"Arriving at 11.15am i was asked to pay a surcharge of 20RMB per hour if i wanted access to my room before official check-in time of 2pm. The hotel appeared empty.
The rooms are clean with nice full height windows. There is bottled water, kettle, and 2 t-bags.
There is no TV, no fridge, and no blankets, though blankets are available for an extra charge (the hotel is at an altitude of approx 1,200m, so its chilly in the evenings).
Staff didn't speak Rnglish, but with Google Translate they did help arrange a taxi back to KK.
There is no restaurant or eating options until you return to the main road - 1.6 kms away uphill.
Overall, staff were distant but helpful when approached. I wouldn't stay there again."

"This is our first visit to Ranau. Booked the room based on the high reviews and am really happy with the decision. The location was far end but the driving was nice because you could see a lot of greenery along the way. No nearby restaurants but the hotel does have a restaurant where you can dine in or have room service. Breakfast was included. Should not miss taking breakfast as you can really enjoy nature early in the morning. However, a ticket to the park was not included. You can purchase it at the gate at the entrance and it was easy. It is nice to have a little hike in the morning after breakfast. If you are lucky, you get to see the Raflesia flower. We are not lucky 😌 maybe next time. Overall the experience was fantastic. On top of it, the reception staff and all other staff were all friendly upon checking in, checking out, and throughout our stay. The room was spacious for our family of four. Cleanliness is remarkable. Highly recommended!"

До входа в Hot Poring Springs идти минут 15, но вас могут подвезти бесплатно. Есть трансфер в Кота Кинабалу, Сандакан. Дороже, чем граб, но граб оттуда не вызвать. Граб нам стоил из Кота Кинабалу 200 ринггит, обратно трансфер стоил 300. Не ждите роскоши от этого места пребывания (как и от других рядом находящихся). Это как приехать к бабушке в деревню). Очень душевно."

The villa itself was immaculate and beautifully maintained, reflecting a high standard of comfort and attention to detail. Every space was pristine, thoughtfully arranged, and inviting — a perfect sanctuary to rest and unwind.
This stay left a lasting impression on us. Pampines Villa combines luxury accommodation with sincere hospitality, a rare and memorable combination. We were deeply impressed and will most certainly return whenever we find ourselves back at Mount Kinabalu. Highly recommended.

XXuan NiThe road to the place is a little shaky but all worth it for the excellent view. In the morning got to see the whole mount KK in front of us, really amazing view.
The people hosting were super nice and friendly, they have a restaurant and small mart at the reception area, even a water dispenser.
There were 2 rooms with big bed and another with bunk beds that can fit 4. You can also ask for Wifi router and Mahjong to rent. Overall good experience, would visit again!

Our night was a bit noisy due to rain, neighbours speaking, some karaoke music somewhere and some baby dogs crying during night. Not our best night during our trip in Malaysia. Small water leak from roof also due to the rain.
The breakfast is very simple, and they were not able to cook eggs because sold out... Need to buy some stuff to the small shop like milk etc for our kids.. disappointed on that point.
It's ok for one night but we would not do it again.

TL;DR: This place feels more like a meditation centre than a hotel, it will not provide you with supplements. It's a bare room. You need to bring toothbrush&paste and buy drinks somewhere as it is not provided. No tv and fan. No in-house restaurant. There are mosquitoes at the garden near afternoon, and the balcony at night, but there are no insects in the room (family room). In exchange you will get a very clear and vivid Mt Kinabalu view in the near-dawn morning (where there is no mosquito), a working shower with heater, concrete floor that reduces nearby noise, and cold foggy experience.
Long:
This place is within the fog path so you will get the foggy experience. You can also see Mt. Kinabalu at the right time and it looks quite close (e.g. dawn 6 a.m.). You can even see the electric towers and resthouse, it's that close. Moreover, this place is more like a meditation centre than a hotel. It is visibly run down probably since covid as that is also when the in-house restaurant got closed down. Considering my experience as a recurrent visitor of Kundasang, mosquito has always been the least of my concern. Somehow this place has lots of them. We got bit quite a lot in a short span of time.
Undesirable / Cons:
-No water kettle, no supplements (water bottle, coffee pack, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.). Porcelain mugs are provided though
-No in-house cafe/restaurant but nearby has a few (400 meters at least)
-No tv, no fan but cold in general
-Quite a lot of mosquito and moths outside at the garden place in the afternoon and at the balcony connecting the 2 buildings at night. There are no electric zapper.
-Seems a bit run down at the garden. 2 broken board pieces on the floor for example.
-It has no Qibla for muslim people, at least in family room
Desirable / Pros:
-Big room. Not smelly
-Is cement board floor
-Big single beds. Not smelly
-Clean bed. Fluffy cover.
-Water heater is working for family room at least
-Relatively clean inside room and at reception. No insects in room. No weird bugs around.
-Has a table and chairs in room
-Lots of electrical port
-Wifi provided by hotel is strong (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz
-Very near main road. So good road going towards the hotel
-Aki-Aki trail starting point is nearby. Plan to go next time so no experience as of this review
This place is not too bad. Not too good either. Personally, I wouldn't place this as my top place for the foggy and view considering other options but I don't mind returning if necessary. It will sure be much much better to highly recommended with much needed renovation and have some methods to deal with those mosquito.
p.s. There's a cute puppy that invites you at the entrance. 😂
p.s.s. I saw a greater coucal gliding into the forest in the morning!

VVieraskäyttäjäThe view of Mt Kinabalu from our room was spectacular. The hotel service is good, hotel staff allowed us to check in early. However, that’s pretty much it. The hotel toilet is quite dirty, water in the shower and sink is brownish/ yellowish, and the whole hotel feels very dated and stuck in the 1990s. The road condition towards the hotel is horrendous, in fact the road condition in most parts of Kundasang is terrible. The government really needs to do something about boosting its tourism economy. It is such a beautiful state, it’s a shame that not much love has been given by the government to make it more tourist friendly.

OOliver Fredhintaan RM130+/nite huoneen 3pax sanoisin sen todella arvokas, ei mitään mahtavaa, mutta huone on riittävän kunnollinen minulle ja vanhemmilleni, vesilämmittimen toimii hyvin kuin sää on todella kylmä plus sade päivä, TV aint työskentelee mutta ei paljon kuin sen aika perheen sitoutuminen 😁 perusvarusteita saatavilla puhtailla pyyhkeillä, paljon pysäköinti käytettävissä, ilmainen wifi saatavilla, mutta ei ollut niin vakaa.
Yksi asia hyvä bout tämä paikka on sijainti, sijaitsee aivan päätiepääkaupunki Kundasang, ja erittäin mukava ravintola sijaitsee aivan hotellin alapuolella, palvelee NO PORK levyt, yleinen ruoka on ja hinta on kohtuullinen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
