"The hotel is located next to Newcastle Central station minutes from the Cathedral, the Castle, the centre of the city near Monument. The hotel entrance has a faded grandeur that isn't intimidating, more comfortably worn. The room was cosy with bathtub and shower. The WiFi was a little temperamental but works fine. A plus for me was the pool and spa facilities at the hotel. Nothing better than a swim to start the day. Excellent location and good value hotel."

"It wasn't the best of experiences and I believe had we addressed some of the issues we came across sooner, things would have been different. There was a poignant smell in our bathroom and in all fairness we should have mentioned it sooner rather than expecting it to disappear on its own. When we did address it, we were moved into a different room instantly. The rooms could do with a bit more cleaning when it came to dust and hair in various areas. Will still recommend it."

"Very well located in the heart of Newcastle. The service was excellent. The gym was small but for everything I needed. Breakfast is on the pricey side, but very generous. In addition to the buffet, there’s a wide selection of freshly prepared dishes. If you’re a meat lover, the full English breakfast is definitely worth trying. "Excellent location, very near to the train station. Places to eat and see were a short walk away from the hotel. The Angel of north was a 15 min drive. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great too! We had an amazing time using the spa facilities aswell. Would definitely recommend"

"The hotel staff were very friendly & very attentive, which was lovely. I was upgraded to a suite, which was nice to have a lot of space. The shower pressure was great and the room & bathroom was very clean. The bed was very lumpy/had a dip in it, so unfortunately, wasn't the best night's sleep and I woke up with a bad back, but this may have just been the room I was in. The breakfast in the morning was average compared to other breakfast buffet's I have had in hotels recently but the atmosphere was very chilled. For a one night stay, the hotel did the job."

"We have stayed here before and it is a perfect place to stay before you hop on your plane at Newcastle Airport. It's a bit of a wreck to the airport - takes less than 5 mins!!! It's brilliant. The metro stops at the airport and it's about 6 mins to the Doubletree from there. There's also long term parking if you are going away and limited parking if you are staying at the hotel. You are assured of a good night's sleep with a comfy bed and thick windows. Fratellos restaurant on site serves excellent food, the bar serves everything and some good cocktails too to start your holiday off! Highly recommend Doubletree by Hilton."

"Booked a room away from the lift. Gave us a room next to the lift. Went down to see ifcwe could get it changed as we wanted a quiet room On check in we requested this so obviously next to the lift facing the stack is not a quiet room. Next room was directly above the hotels air conditioning unit gave up as obviously the receptionist was having a serious customer service melt down especially when we went out 10 minutes later and she called over ..is that room OK for you? Obviously not as the air conditioning unit screamed all night long we just said yes as what was the best room going to be ?? Certainly will not be back thanks to the totally piss taking receptionist"

Always a fantastic stay at our fav place in Newcastle, short work to the toon or the quayside so plenty to do and see and plenty of places to eat. Rooms are really clean and well equipped!! Can't wait to stay again!!

Absolute brilliant hotel, staff so friendly and welcoming, can I just say, paul on reception was an absolute legend, as I rang up in the morning to request an early check-in as we arrived after 12 and check-in wasn't untill 3, but paul put a lock on our room, so it was ready for us when we arrived, give that man a raise. Perfect location and comfortable rooms, will deffo recommend, and if im visiting Newcastle again, I think this hotel will be my first choice, depending on price. The staff was super kind and helpful! They helped us check-in early and ALSO check-out later with no issue whatsoever! We also had an issue with the electricity in our room and, after explaining them the situation, they very promptly gave us another room so we could get ready for our event! Not only, in the end there was no need for another room because they rapidly fixed the issue! Would 100% recommend! The location was also great for both short Uber trips and short walking based on what you prefer/need!

I was unable to make the booking as my father sadly had a stroke the day before we travelled. I called the hotel to explain the situation and to request a change of date for the booking within the next few weeks but they told me it was non refundable and that I booked it with Trip.com so there was nothing they could do. So I lost my money and never got to rebook. Very disappointing under the circumstances.

Hotel is right next to the airport so extremely convenient. The decor was pretty dated and the window seal needed some maintenance (left a half-cm gap so a permanent draft) but the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the tea mugs a nice large size. I'd stay again if needed as frankly the other factors outweigh the decor for me.

The room was in the top floor and felt quiet. It’s very convenient to have the bar and restaurant just downstairs. I didn’t try the food but it was looking nice. The WiFi was good and the facilities in the room were great too with free tea and coffee. The bed could be improved but it was okay for a night. The room has in suite bathroom.

Good location with free parking and about a 15-minute walk to the city centre. The price is reasonable and includes a breakfast box for each guest. The experience could have been better if the room facilities were maintained and cleaned to a higher standard.

I booked this for my Grandaughter and I to attend an appointment in Newcastle at 1.30pm and also a concert in the evening at the arena. Arriving well before check in at 3pm, the receptionist kindly allowed us to park in the hotel car park thus enabling us not to have to move the car from the metro station opposite later. This was a great help- thankyou. We checked in after our appointment and got our key for room 23. It was nice and cosy with the heating on and extremely clean. I did struggle to turn off the cold tap fully in the bathroom but my Grandaughter sorted it...maybe needs some attention from a professional. After getting changed, we headed back up town on the metro where we enjoyed seeing Rick Astley. It was quite late when we returned hungry but the hotel was fine with us ordering a McDonald's delivery from Kingston Park. All in all with breakfast included in the price, we had a super time. Cheers!

Depends what you want. We just needed somewhere to stay over after a concert. The downstairs is a massive loud bar, very popular with young folk. But upstairs, in the hotel rooms, you hear the noise less, and bar closes at 11pm. Hotel is rather shabby, but rooms are fine and have what you need. There’s a £50 deposit against damage. Staff were brilliant, really nice. Basic breakfast in a bag, as part of price, was unexpected bonus… or you can pay extra for cooked. Not a slap up luxury hotel, but fine for a basic stay over. I’d use it again.
