"Staff outstanding. Shuttle to Otranto good, might work better if they had standard times eg on the hour from hotel and they leave promptly, then on half hour back? Pool lovely with views of nearby lake, excellent service there. Restaurant breakfast excellent. We did not see many people eat dinner there, I suspect as it is costs more than double any other nearby restaurant which is a shame as it would probably mean more people used the bar too, and create a nice atmosphere. Our room was spacious and clean. Lovely bathroom. The air con didn’t seem to work properly and the room smelt a bit damp at times, they did offer to move us but we were only there a few nights and had unpacked a lot of stuff so we didn’t bother."

"The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to the beach and within walking distance of the town center, which made it easy and pleasant to explore the area. There is also good availability of parking, which is very convenient. However, I did not have a good experience during the night. The smoke detector was placed directly above the bed, with a blinking green LED light every few seconds. This made it extremely difficult to rest. To be able to sleep, I had to move the mattress out of the bedroom and place it in the corridor near the bathroom to get away from the light, which is clearly not acceptable in a hotel environment. This is something that should be reconsidered, either by adjusting the placement or reducing the impact of the light. Overall, while the location is a strong point, this issue significantly affected my stay."

"WARNING: Avoid this hotel they are extremely unprofessional and disorganised. We had a booking with the hotel in July 2026 which we had fully prepaid in November 2025 . They recently canceled our booking which is in 4 weeks with no explanation or warning. They have tried to tell us we cancelled, which we 100% did not , we have asked for them to show us the cancellation request and of course they cannot. We reached out to them immediately as soon as we received the cxl email and over the last 5 days to try to find out what was going on but the hotel refused to speak to us about the situation and referred us to their private reservations company that does their reservations . They seem totally uncaring, disorganised and seems in complete chaos, they kept telling us just wait 24 hours for 5 days now. They promised to book us into a like accommodation in same area but have not done this and now not responding to our calls / messages. Obviously most accommodation is completely booked out in the middle of July . It has been extremely stressful situation as happed the day before we flew out, we are very disappointed with both the hotel and their out sourced reservation team , They held our funds for 7 months in their own bank account prior to the cancellation and yet still did not help or assist or take responsibility . We travel often and have never had such a bad experience with a hotel . We would not want this to happen to others so felt we had to share our awful experience and suggest you definitely avoid this Masseria and look elsewhere and book other accommodation in the area ."

"We enjoyed a super break at ML earlier this year. The property is a 5-10 min drive from Otranto Old Town and a similar drive to the busy beach which also requires a long walk after parking. Our room was tidy and well appointed. The private garden was a bit small and the tall bushes whilst providing privacy might make some feel claustrophobic. Maybe book a bigger room if possible. Food was excellent Great pool Great staff Ideally would suit people looking for a quiet spot away from the town centre but within a short commute for evenings out."

"We are a Brazilian family—parents travelling with our daughter—who spent July exploring Puglia. Unfortunately, unlike our experiences at other hotels of a similar category in the region, we did not feel genuinely welcome at Masseria di Monaci. The property is undeniably beautiful, with charming design, tasteful décor and initially comfortable-looking rooms. We would also like to acknowledge the kindness of the gentlemen who assisted us at check-in, at the pool bar and during dinner. However, our overall impression was negatively affected by the attitude of some members of the breakfast and check-out teams, which at times felt dismissive and unwelcoming. We even wondered whether communicating in English rather than Italian contributed to this treatment. More seriously, the air conditioning on the upper level of our room, where the double bed was located, did not work from the first day. The area remained extremely hot and uncomfortable, significantly affecting our sleep. We initially accepted the explanation that a regional power outage had disrupted the system. When the problem continued, however, we were told that we had not closed the door correctly. Even after the technical team closed it as instructed, there was no improvement. Instead of an apology or an offer to change rooms, the staff appeared increasingly irritated by our attempts to resolve the issue. The shower also had an irregular and potentially unsafe temperature control, alternating between very cold and dangerously hot water. The minibar was poorly stocked for a hotel located away from shops and without an effectively 24-hour reception. On one night, we were left without drinking water. We also chose to have dinner at the hotel one evening, but did not find the quality of the menu consistent with the price, especially compared with other dining experiences throughout Puglia. Although the masseria is visually appealing, its beauty did not compensate for the service and maintenance issues we experienced. Considering its distance from Otranto’s historic centre and the need to rely on a car for almost everything, we would choose a different property on a future visit."

The breakfast, although not characterized by great variety, is certainly full of good sweet and savory products made by the hotel, a shame perhaps for the presence of some industrial products. It is nice to have breakfast on the terrace but the strong wind and the constant banging of the roofing and shelter structure are disturbing. The rooms in my opinion are the real flaw of the hotel, certainly not 5 stars, even though we had a classic double and not a basic one (the hotel only has these two types of rooms in addition to a single suite), the lack of adequate soundproofing from adjacent rooms as well as from those on the upper floor is really annoying in addition to small flaws such as the dripping of the air conditioner above the entrance door, the worn chrome of the sink tap or the lack of a large shower or even the terrace completely closed on three sides with the absence of a minimum view, part of the furnishings of the rooms not 5 stars, do the rest. The hotel restaurant is average. The staff are all kind, nice and helpful but the hotel needs a restyling at least of the rooms. Definitely not a 5 star but maybe not even a 4."
