The neighborhood is tranquile, there is a fantastic view of Kamnik Alps and Ljubljana. What to do? Velika planina is amazing during summer. First of all - you must visit the herdsmen’s settlement. There is also museum of shepards life and Snow Mary chapel. The settlement is revived every June, when herdsmen return to the settlement and tend to their cattle until September. They are delighted to invite you to taste their dairy products or try a typical herdsmen’s lunch; sour milk and hard-boiled corn mush. If you like hiking - may be one day trip to the highest mountains in Kamnisko - Savinjske Alpe (climbing to Planjavameters) or for younger children visit a meadow village Dol (one hour walking downhil and than walking to mountain Konj 1803 meters (2 hours walking). This is a trip high in the mountains. We do not recommend to go up with suitcases with rollers (it's very useless). It's better to go up with backpacks. Parking: You leave the car on the parking at the bottom station of cable car. You go up by cable car and double seat lift (read the instructions below). In case of fog, you will not find the chalet without Gps. When you arrive to the city of Kamnik, follow the direction to Gornji Grad. After 2 or 3 km you will see the signs for Velika planina. In the village Stahovica there is a sign for Kamniska bistrica (cable car). You turn left and after 8 km you will arrive to the bottom station of the cable car. There is also free parking. The timetable of cable is from 9:00 till 16:00 every hour). From the upper station of cable car is the seat lift to Zeleni rob. You step down at the first station of seat lift (near restaurant Zeleni rob). In the low season the seat lift does not operate from Monday till Thursday. In this case you have to walk from the upper station of the cable car to the restaurant Zeleni rob (app. 35 minutes). From the restaurant Zeleni rob you follow the sign Kamniško naselje /na jamah.
