Matera is a series of ups and downs and being high up near the Duomo affords you breathtaking views from the bar and terrace. The room was nice, clean but was not the show stopper. The restaurant and bar staffs were wonderful, the front desk, while very helpful, did not exude that warm feeling that the wait staff did. Overall a great stay and if in Matera again we would definitely return to the quarry."

"The actual hotel/room didn't quite live up to the photos or descriptions; it definitely wasn't the cave-style depicted but rather quite modern. Located on a hill, the hotel is impossible to find using GPS. We had to call the front desk, and it took a long time for them to understand and send someone to collect us. Be prepared for many stairs. If you plan to stay here, I'd strongly advise against bringing much luggage. The air conditioning unit in the room was incredibly loud; at night, it sounded eerily like ongoing construction work. The view from the window was also quite plain, which might have been due to the room's orientation."

If you park outside, it will be a bit tiring to drag your suitcase in.
