"Aque Cave was the most unique hotel I've ever had the opportunity to stay in. The hotel is completely unlike anything I've ever experienced. It was a magical stay for me and my husband. We stayed 2 nights to explore Matera. The hotel is clean, the room we stayed in was spotless. The room had candles on when we arrived and this created such an ambient atmosphere in the cave (room). Breakfast was local produce, lots of choice. Paula was very helpful and took time to tell us some of the history of the hotel and Matera and made great recommendations for us to eat and places to visit. She even booked the restaurants for us. Thank you for such am amazing time! 5 stars for everything, I cant find any fault! Hotel is in the perfect location to explore the sassi"

"We visited the Elysium spa, in the Vetera Matera for a couples massage and few hours in the spa and we were very well looked after by the spa manager Francesco and his team! The staff were very friendly and even helped me find my watch when I left it behind! The spa was very clean and it was a great experience. We had it to ourselves - sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold water therapy and shower - all in a cave like room. There was also an outdoor area to relax and an area inside to enjoy a glass of sparkling with snacks."

"Lovely helpful staff. Great location with secure parking and only 10/15 mins walk to the centre as long as you are prepared for a steep uphill walk with steps for the return journey. Pool area clean and quiet and a welcome relief for afternoon heat. Breakfast is primarily cold simple continental style. No hot options. Aircon ok; seemed to blow in cycles rather than continuously. Main criticism is the strong toxic fragrance used. Was informed it was fragranced cleaning products and we kept doors open on 1st day which was a nuissance in hot August weather but the smell was giving headaches and congestion. Took 2 days to leave bedroom. We didnt have room cleaned on 2nd day as smell was still there. We had also asked the lovely girl on reception that the fragranced products not be used which she duly noted. By the 2nd evening it had all but gone from the bedroom but unfortunately it is used throughout the corridors and the smell permeates. It hits you when you enter the building especially hallway and stairwell. Smell reminded me of the shop Lush ! If you are allergic/intolerant / migraine triggered by strong air freshener type fragrances then I would avoid this hotel which is a shame as it is a lovely boutique hotel."

"We have just had the most amazing stay at this property. Nataliia and her family are so welcoming, helpful and extremely professional. The apartments are furnished to a very high standard, and kept immaculately, everything was so clean. great value and only 14 minutes into the centre of Matera so a fantastic location, a car is essentia ldue to semi rural private road to reach the property. The outdoor pool was such a nice option to enjoy after a day exploringt he Sassi and very relaxing, again furnished to a very high standard. Could not have asked for a nicer place to choose to stay for our first visit to Matera. Thank you Nataliia for your kind hospitality and superb knowledge that added to a brilliant stay for us"
