"This was a very nice hotel with great staff at the front desk, particularly Philippe. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent. Not only what I recommend the food, but the desserts were outstanding, and the porn star Martini, is out of, this World. The hotel does not have air conditioning, and although the temperature was cool. It was a little difficult that night. I did not check out the spa, but the hotel, sauna and steam Room are Amazing and the indoor pool as well. I would bring my own car next time as coordinating cabs was a mission."

"Superb anniversary night away. Our room was upgraded & we were delighted! The quality of service & staff greatly improved under the new ownership. Will definitely stay again, its local to us! Two tips for them, as I say to all hotels! British & Dutch visitors like proper tea! It's easy to buy either PG Tips or Yorkshire Gold Tea in France. We never drink "English" breakfast tea!! It should be served with boiling water, cold milk & white sugar, if required!!! We had to ask for the breakfast menu. Apart from that, wonderful!!"

"We arrived at Pontorson station by train and planned to take a taxi, but there is no Uber here, and we were kindly welcomed. Everything was very hospitable and delicious, a wonderful place, I would recommend it to all my friends."

Hôtel Mercure Cherbourg Centre Port

"The room was really lovely, we had a prestige family suite with balcony and great views. Fast check-in and check-out so perfect for ferry travel- 5 mins from port. Comfy beds, lovely sheets and a wonderful shower. The stay was let down by the restaurant and staff for us. We opted to dine in the evening before our ferry as we wanted a quick and simple option. The waitress came across rude and we were advised we had to order all courses at the start of the meal. This was frustrating as we didn’t know if we would want a desert at the end! Several meals were wrong- we ordered 4 steaks and all were cooked and labelled with a different level of ‘done’ than we had selected. One dish completely different to what had been requested and confirmed. One steak inedible as very fatty with lumps of gristle. We are English but ordered using the French title as the menu, and pointed to confirm which dish was desired. Orders were not as described- muscles came with no cream, raspberry missing from the mojito etc, just frustrating to not get what you order. During a 3.5hr dining experience we were not asked once if we wanted any drinks. We asked ourselves on several occasions. We spent over £300 and it wasn’t the good experience we would expect (and usually get) in Mercure hotels. There was no milk in our rooms for coffee so we asked at Reception and the host simply shrugged and said she didn’t have any. We asked at the bar and we’re told there was no milk. I asked a different waitress after dinner and she offered a jug to take up to the room."

"We stayed here for one night prior to catching the ferry home - great location and close to the port of Cherbourg The room was excellent, very comfortable and clean with everything you would need including tea and coffee making facilities The staff were very friendly and the welcome was excellent.The on site restaurant was excellent, the food was really good although the choice could have been better I would highly recommend the hotel and restaurant"

"The Hotel could not of been more helpful and accommodating, when we made a last minute trip over the New Year to visit an ill member of the family. We had the large family room to which a cot was added and which was very comfortable. As the restaurant was fully booked on New Year Eve and closed the following day, the staff sent us a list of alternatives. Unable to get a place we had Pizza from the village vending machine, the staff provided us with plates and cutlery. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel and staff made our trip. Thank you."
