"We booked this hotel for an overnight stay. We were going to a family celebration in Lockerbie. Our double room was immaculate . Lovely and clean, beautiful bathroom and facilities in room. The only thing was when we came back to hotel at 11.50pm the doors were closed. We had let them know we would be late and they gave us a phone number to ring when we got back . Unfortunately nobody came despite ringing and knocking on doors and windows. We were freezing. Another resident heard us and let us in at 12.30am.!!! When this was mentioned in morning, very little apology was given. Breakfast was very good."

"Booked Hightae inn as a stop on way home from Newcastle .quite and homely B&B but this doesn’t impact on the beauty of Hightae . We had a three course dinner (very reasonably priced) and all courses were lovely, and breakfast was just as good home made bread jams and marmalade smoked salmon and poached eggs was my choice. Morag was a great host and so glad we came across Hightae and will definitely be back."

"I was greeted as a returning customer but hadn’t been there for 17years  The staff were very friendly and helpful and polite  The service I received was excellent and the food was excellent that I received  The first room I stayed in was a little bit tired but as it’s a single bed room it was more than acceptable  The second night was a different room as I extended my stay and was a superior single and was more in price but I found it to be excellent  A great hotel with great staff and would recommend a stay if you’re passing through Lockerbie or need a hotel base in the area"

"I booked it last minute to visit Lockerbie memorials & for my partner & I getting married at Gretna. I realised I had only added 1 adult for an overnight stay. Once we checked in however, the reception were incredible at spotting my error and helped us out. I thought the building itself was very nice and it had a lovely character to it. Our room was large, spotless and it had a comfy bed. The best part of our stay was the family staff, they were all friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would return here again ourselves in the future. "

"If you want a small hotel in a quiet village location, convenient for the main road to (or from) the North; with a very warm welcome; which is clean; has a comfortable bed; good food; an amazing selection of whiskies; friendly fellow guests and locals - then I recommend the Hightae Inn. Morag and Mark are excellent hosts: chatty, interested, informative and helpful. My room looked out across a garden (the next door neighbour could tidy this up!) to a field of cows and the sheep in the distance on the rolling hills. The Hightae Inn is a former pub with rooms and it suited me perfectly as an overnight stay on my journey to Glasgow. It's easy to find; (it isn't in Lockerbie, take the Lockerbie junction off the motorway, drive on the A709 into Lochmaben, round Castle Loch and you'll find Hightae. They warned me about Sat Navs and mine wanted to lead me a merry dance.) Negatives: None really except that I was too long for the bath! I had the upstairs room near the grumbling boiler and that wasn't a problem (and they are going to fix it). I slept like a log. This is a part of Scotland that most people drive straight through and I think it would be good to come back here next time and spend a bit longer to explore the area. I am sure of a warm welcome and that whatever whisky I want, they'll probably have it."
