Disappointing Stay Despite High Hopes
We were genuinely excited to stay at Tribeca, especially given its prime location, appealing facilities, and our previous positive experiences with Millennium hotels. We even secured a discounted rate, which made it seem like the perfect place to end our holiday. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of expectations.
Breakfast was extremely limited and disappointing. On our first morning, breakfast was moved to the pool area due to a function, which left us struggling to find seating. The food options were underwhelming—only one juice (orange) and flavored water were available. The coffee and tea were pre-made and cold. Hot food consisted of fried items like nuggets and spring rolls. There were no pastries, only scrambled eggs, one type of cheese, and plain toast — not what we expected from a hotel of this caliber.
At check-in, we were informed about a complimentary dinner, with drinks at guests' own cost — a fair offer on the surface. However, once seated, we were told that the dinner was only complimentary if we purchased a drink. As non-drinkers, our only options were mocktails starting at RM25. Considering we could have had a full meal outside for slightly more, this felt misleading and disappointing.
The most frustrating part of our stay, however, was the lack of housekeeping. At check-in, we requested daily cleaning. On the first day, no one showed up until 5:30pm after we called to follow up — just as we had returned from a long day out. We had to settle for just towel and water replacement. On the second day, we returned around 6pm to find our room had not been cleaned at all. When I called reception, I was told that housekeeping was no longer available and that they would not even remove the garbage. In over 25 years of travel, I’ve never encountered a hotel that refused to remove garbage for a guest, especially when the room had not been cleaned.
While the facilities like the two pools are visually appealing, there are no poolside services or towels provided — so be sure to bring your own.
We had recently stayed at Dorsett Residences and believed Tribeca would be an upgrade. Unfortunately, it was not. The room was smaller, older, had only one bathroom, and the service was subpar.
The only real positive was the location — central, convenient, and well-connected. Sadly, everything else from food to service left us disappointed. We will not be returning.
