Song draws from the palette of Eastern aesthetics and the refined taste of classical literati, shaping a lifestyle of Chinese elegant luxury wherever it resides. We believe travel is not merely arrival, but a serendipitous encounter with pleasures and delights. Song treats every guest as the master of the house, turning private spaces, exclusive privileges, and bespoke services into heartfelt comforts. Every Song Hotel is sited amid scenic landscapes and built with Song dynasty garden-making artistry, blending local character with Eastern elegance. Free from worldly cares, abundant in refined pleasures at Song, we await all who are willing to slow down.
At the foot of Mount Qingcheng and by the shore of Shuxian Lake, the elegance of the Song dynasty lives on. Song Hotel Chengdu is hidden beneath Mount Qingcheng, an architectural realization of Liang Sicheng’s concept of “modern with Chinese essence.” Dark grey cylindrical tiles, natural wood, and white walls frame courtyards that unfold in sequence, with winding corridors and water features interspersed. Between the courtyards lie the depths of Song lyrics. Every step changes the view and brings delight; wherever you pause, it becomes a painting. The hotel has won the US MUSE Design Award, but more moving than the award is the serene pleasure of wandering through—what the classical phrase calls “quiet admiration unending, elegant conversation turning clear.”
Eighty-six garden villas are all standalone pavilions. Moon-gazing duplexes, mountain-view duplexes, garden flat villas, and lake-view three-bedroom pool villas—each either has a private hot spring pool or commands the whole lake-and-mountain panorama. “A pool of water, slender bamboo” is tucked into every garden; each window frames its own view. Push open the garden gate, and a flagstone path leads to a haven undisturbed. At night, the private hot spring is at the perfect temperature; look up at the stars of Shu, look down at the moon’s reflection in the water.
The Song Banquet Chinese restaurant draws from the Song dynasty culinary classic Shan Jia Qing Gong to recreate seasonal elegance on the palate—every vessel, presentation, and dish has a story. Dining here, you might feel as if you are drinking with Su Dongpo.
Sixteen kilometres away lies the deep seclusion of Mount Qingcheng; nearby, the thousand-year-old Dujiangyan irrigation system and the adorable pandas of Panda Valley await. If you stay in, singing-bowl healing, the tea house, chess and cards, the swimming pool, and Song intangible cultural heritage crafts can fill a whole day. Outward, bustle; inward, retreat. Song Hotel Chengdu is the place where you can let everything go.
"This Hotel is located on beautiful grounds, however it is a real shame that they are letting the weeds takeover everywhere. Still very pleasant to walk around the complex with all the trees, flowers, lake, swans & ducks, but it breaks your heart to see the weeds taking over everywhere and there is what once would have been a beautiful Rose Flower path and the roses are still flowering but no maintenance at all and weeks are taller than the rose bushes and all they seem to do is just the grass and forget the rest.
Rooms and facilities were very clean, so I was impressed.
Room layout is excellent and very, very big with a courtyard and external spa, you start to relax as soon as you walk in the door. The only thing that put me and my wife off is the mahjong table in the main room on the first floor.
TV had no movies and no English Chanels at all.
Food in the All Day Dining (Chinese Restaurant) was very nice but limited.
Breakfast was not a very big selection and probably because it is not peak season, however it also was not very good and put us off even trying the Western Food for dinner and went across the road for fast food instead.
Staff were very nice and polite.
We want for my wife's birthday and apart from the impressive building structures, there was no WOW factor for the overall experience."
