Our restaurants have more variety than West's "trout dinner" tourist fare, as well. Summer is glorious here--don't miss the hike up Ousel Falls (just 1/4 mile away), definitely one of the best easy hikes in Montana, or the climb to Beehive Basin in the magnificent Spanish Peaks, only a few miles up the road. Big Sky Resort has abundant mountain bike trails, zip lines, and many other summer activities, even an excursion to the top of 11,177 ft. Lone Peak. Golf at the Arnold Palmer designed public course in the Meadow area not only has bunkers and water hazards, but a "Moose Hazard" as well. When fall arrives the hunting is fantastic, maybe too easy, judging from all the elk mounts on the neighbors' walls. Lift lines are non-existent. Overheard as I schussed up to Ramcharger last winter, "I'm taking a picture of this for my buddy skiing in Colorado, he's been in line for 30 minutes!" Children and beginners have two "shuffle up" carpet lifts and their own slow chair. Intermediates have perhaps the best l-o-o-o-n-n-g blues in the Western Hemisphere, with superb daily grooming. And Experts, let me tell you, you won't be able to ski all the EPIC steep terrain at Big Sky if you're only here a week. Oops, I almost forgot the TREES--there's glades for everybody, moderate and cleared for intermediates, steep and deep for the rest of us, and a bunch of runs where you can ski expert left, intermediate right, and meet at the bottom for the lift ride back up.
