"I had trouble checking in and had to get help from the bar staff who were very helpful The bedrooms were a bit on the small side for 2 people, there was no air conditioning in the bedrooms and it was very hot weather. The breakfast menu was adequate. We did not have dinner at the hotel. The bottom step on the main stairway had no markings on the edge, and one of my party fell down that step on 2 occasions. Fortunately he was not injured, but the matter needs redressing. We pointed it out to one of the bar staff who said he would pass on the comment. The staff were very pleasant at all times."

Gloucester Robinswood Hotel by Sunday

"Clean, quiet, comfortable spacious bedroom. We were only there to sleep as we were at a Wedding elsewhere all day. I would stay again."

Premier Inn Gloucester (Longford)

"Needed somewhere for a one night stop. I arrived by car, the Premier Inn was easy to find on the north side of Gloucester with plenty of free parking (just need to register your vehicle number at reception). Room was clean and comfortable. In the evening we walked towards the cathedral and docks - took about half hour. We had Premier Inn breakfast in the adjoining restaurant the next morning - we had a nicely cooked English breakfast which we ordered on arrival and which was served to our table, plus a good choice of cereals, yoghurts, toast etc which you could help yourself to at the buffet. Reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Would happily stay here again"

Premier Inn Gloucester (Quayside)

"The hotel is pretty standard Premier Inn, but the guy on reception didn't look particularly happy to be there, and I had to ask where the restaurant was and if I needed to input my car registration. The restaurant isn't immediately obvious that it's part of the hotel, there are no signs above the door at all. I went to the bar and said I'd like to order food, was given a menu and told where to sit. A whole 25 minutes passed with no drink or food order taken, meanwhile staff are at the bar chatting. Finally my order was taken (it wasn't busy at all) and my food arrived another 25 minutes later. After finishing and leaving my plate for collection, it took 20 minutes for my plate to be taken, and another 30 minutes I'm still waiting for my desert. Another table were also waiting for their desert and the manager eventually asked them if they were still waiting for it. When they said yes he laughed and went in the kitchen. 10 minutes later they left, without desert. At that point I realised I wasn't getting mine either, luckily I was on a meal allowance so I got up and walked out too. It's also worth mentioning there were only Madri or Moretti on tap, but there was no Madri apparently. Because of this experience and not having time for this carry on in the morning, I didn't entertain going in for breakfast"

Nelson by the Docks Serviced Apartments by Roomsbooked

"We booked this on spec as we were in Gloucester and decided to stay the night instead of just the day. I have to say, this was a real find. Easy to book (only booked 1½ hours before check-in) and right on the docks. The apartment was very clean and had everything you could want. The shower was unusual and took a bit of working out and the hot water was intermittent but as it was 28º outside on the day that didn't really worry us too much. If we came back to Gloucester this would be the first place we would look at to stay."
