"The Hotel Ariston Paestum is an excellent venue for a stay in the Cilento region of Southern Italy. My wife Gina and I spent 10 lovely days in early September 2024 at The Ariston and were very pleasantly impressed with the Management and Staff. The Hotel is a family owned and run organization with friendly and efficient personnel at all levels. We were thoroughly pleased with the facilities, the gorgeous interior decor, beautiful landscaping, fountains, dining room and bars. Our room was spacious, comfortable and a true extension of this nice venue. We observed that the hotel was constantly and happily hosting weddings, birthdays and other social affairs in its many party rooms inside and outside the buildings, obviously a very popular venue for the locals as well. The Executive Chef at the hotel's restaurant creates delicious dishes at every meal with a passion for culinary excellence featuring an open view kitchen ina charming ambience. The friendly serving staff, such as Angela and Antonio, did an impeccable job. The quality and freshness of most products consumed at The Ariston are sourced from their own Tempio Agricultural Farm, approximately a mile away, where agri-tourism takes a new meaning. We toured Tempio, a working farm with wonderful food, and observed over 1,200 heads of buffaloes and 300 or so cows, producing the milk used to manufacture the best Buffala Mozzarella we have ever had. Ricotta and other cheeses, wines, olive oil, prosciutto and may other products of this modern facility are served at the hotel's restaurant and can also be tasted or purchased at the Tempio restaurant and shop. The tour of Azienda Agricola Tempio, capped by a meal at its restaurant, is not to be missed! We learned a great deal from the dedicated, professional veterinarian Emmanuel at Tempio; he gave us an excellent tour of the buffalo production facilities. The Cilento Coast offers some great, sandy beaches with waters so clean that many were awarded the "Blue Flag" denomination for their pristine condition. The private beach at this hotel, The Lido Ariston, is one such beauty and is accessible to Hotel Ariston guests by a five minute ride on shuttles provided by the hotel. Paestum is also the ideal destination for those seeking historical context, as its Archeological Park of Paestum, which is about a ten minute ride from The Ariston, consists of ancient ruins that are among the only Greek ruins left on Italy's mainland and are very well preserved. Our appreciation and thanks to Owners and Staff at The Hotel Ariston for their warm hospitality and excellent service which made us feel welcomed at all times and made our stay so relaxing. "We start with the strengths: the common parts of the hotel (breakfast, outdoor, reception and corridors) are clean and very clean, probably recently renovated. Breakfast is not very different but with excellent products, even without gluten. We had booked two rooms, one four-and one five-fold. When we arrived at 8.30 in the morning, they were kind to let us leave all the bags in the four-fold because the five-fold wasn't ready. When he returned from the sea, around 19.30, the fifth was not ready yet; he had no fifth bed, no fifth shower box and no refrigerator in the suitable furniture. After a while they came to bring the bed and the refrigerator, the fifth ever arrived. We had to connect the refrigerator to the current by force (as required by the same serviceman who brought it to the room) on the grip to get a schuko into a "normal" grip. The room was very dirty, and both the entrance ceiling and the bathroom ceiling had inconfundable muffa spots, the bathroom was blind and without a vacuum cleaner (if there was any system, it was not anyway), So already at the second consecutive shower (we were in five) a tropical climate was formed. Our friends in the four-folds did not go much better, because they found towels with old, probably bloody, never treated and the air conditioning unmodulable; they preferred to shut it off and suffer warm (in these days the temperature is up to 40 degrees) rather than a bronchitis. "We enjoyed our 1-night stay here. The B&B is within short walking distance from the archeological park. The owner was very nice and friendly and recommended some restaurants for dinner (even though communication was hard as we don't speak Italian and the owner speaks no English). Breakfast was very good, and some special requests were happily accommodated. Our only problem was that both in the evening and the morning, there wasn't enough hot water in the room even for a single, short shower."
