"Great Stay at Hotel Courtland, Matsumoto! Just wanted to drop a quick review for Hotel Courtland in Matsumoto—what a pleasant find! The location is absolutely fantastic. Seriously, it's about a 5-minute, worry-free walk from the station. This was a huge plus, especially since we had luggage; no need to struggle or look for a taxi. Adding to the value, the price at the time of booking was very cheap, making this a fantastic deal! As for the hotel itself, I have to say, it's exceptionally clean. Like, super clean. It made our stay feel very comfortable and relaxing. What really stood out was the amazing hospitality. We arrived after a 4-hour ride from Tokyo and were pretty frozen from the winter shock. The staff kindly offered us a free early check-in, which was incredibly thoughtful and exactly what we needed to warm up and refresh. It really saved the day! We didn't get a chance to try the breakfast this time, but based on everything else, I imagine it's great too. Highly recommend this hotel if you're ever in Matsumoto!"

"One of the best onsen hotels ever for a good price value! It’s about under 10minute walk from Matsumoto Station situated in a quiet corner of the main road. You have to take off your shoes and store them at the front entrance shoe lockers, because the entire hotel floor is tatami (good experience). Front desk staff very hospitable as they even help to wipe your luggage wheels clean. Room is also entirely tatami, pretty spacious, and very clean. Appreciate that the air conditioner can be toggled between heating & cooling, instead of centralized conditioning. There’s a small private shower cubicle. There’s a free welcome snack in the fridge everyday. At 9:30pm-11pm, there’s even free “Yonaki Soba Noodles”. The public onsen itself was also great, with both indoor and outdoor options. The bed is of a low bed frame slightly mimicking futon style, it was a good night sleep. Definitely will be back to any of their similar chains across Japan!"

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were enveloped by a warm and inviting ambiance that set the tone for the rest of our stay. Our room was a perfect sanctuary—spacious, meticulously clean, and adorned with subtle touches of Japanese artistry. The panoramic views of the Japanese Alps from our window were nothing short of breathtaking, especially when the mountains were bathed in the soft glow of sunrise. The traditional tatami flooring and comfortable futon bedding provided an authentic experience without sacrificing comfort. One of the standout features of Shoho is its exceptional onsen facilities. Soaking in the natural hot springs while gazing at the picturesque scenery was incredibly rejuvenating. The rotenburo (outdoor bath) offered a tranquil escape where the stresses of daily life simply melted away. Despite any language barriers, their kindness and professionalism shone through. The hotel's location is ideal for exploring the rich cultural heritage of Matsumoto. We were just a short drive from the iconic Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan's most beautiful original castles. Strolling through the historic Nakamachi Street with its classic white-walled storehouses turned boutique shops and cafes was a delightful way to spend an afternoon. In addition to its proximity to cultural sites, Shoho serves as a great base for nature enthusiasts. The nearby Kamikochi Valley offers stunning hiking trails that showcase the unspoiled beauty of the Japanese Alps. Returning to the comfort of the hotel after a day of exploration was something we looked forward to, especially knowing a soothing onsen soak awaited us. In summary, Shoho encapsulates the essence of Japanese hospitality. Every aspect of our stay was thoughtfully curated to provide comfort, relaxation, and cultural enrichment. We left feeling deeply refreshed and with a greater appreciation for the wonders of Matsumoto. Shoho is more than just a place to stay—it's an experience that lingers long after you've departed. "I changed rooms because my first room smelled strongly like someone's body odor, but the second room also smelled, just less. So I didn't bother to change again. I've never had this issue elsewhere in Japan and I've stayed at a lot of different hotels in Japan, weird... Breakfast has varieties but tasted so so... I was woken up once by people talking in the hallway. Door sound proof isn't great. So if you're a light sleeper, maybe use ear plugs. Good service and amenities otherwise."

"It is a pleasure to stay at this hotel because of its cleanliness and the services it provides. Despite the fact that the property is old and needs some renovation, I am still happy to leave a very good review. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to Matsumoto station. Additionally, it offers complimentary onsen access at another hotel, with shuttle bus service included. Hotel guests should make full use of these. Reminder: To ensure your seat at the onsen, please make the reservation by 9am every day. I will stay at this hotel again when I visit Matsumoto next time."

"Booked a room here for 1 day just to explore matsumoto. this hotel was a pretty good distance to walk to the tourist attraction such as the matsumoto castle and nawate shopping street. loved that they offered free icecream or ramen between 8:00-10:00 pm. If you ever check out and you still have time before your bus leaves, you can also ask front desk to keep your luggage so you can be luggage free exploring. they were super kind and understanding with all the requests we had."

"No shower available inside the room, we need to use the hot spring. However, the water was not hot enough! I found two Japanese ladies use both indoor and outdoor hot spring just for few minutes and then left with disappointment. The food qualities of both dinner and breakfast were not up to the standards of “Onsen” hotels in Japan at this price level I had gone before. Unfortunately this hotel is the only one available for booking on Trip.com near the area of Kamicochi. Will not recommend to anyone."

"The Celecton is in a great location for Matsumoto castle and the river where you can find beautiful temples, charming Izakayas and gift shops. The hotel bath was hot and relaxing after a day of walking and the breakfast bar had a good selection of Japanese and western food."

"Excellent location just near by bus station terminal. Good hotel ,good service with friendly staff and the facilities are great with a snack and drink floor at the 10 th of the hotel. I most surprised and love to see all the the skin care products are DHC. I will stay there again❤️"

"The hotel is showing its age. Furniture is dated & the beds were VERY hard. There was a Big step up into the bathroom from the room which is difficult if your a senior like my wife & I. The front office staff were friendly and helpful."
