Katerina Palace Hotel

"Have stopped in the main hotel and the rooms are lovely, clean and tidy, this time stayed in Studio 2 and our room was disgusting, the bed was broken, the mattress was like a sea saw, no slats at the bottom and the ones at the top were broken, told reception they didn’t seem that bothered even though I informed them that I had spinal surgery a few months before and I have a spinal shunt in my back. They told us they had no other rooms and that maintenance would come and sort it, that night we had to us the sofa cushions to prop up the top end of the bed in order to sleep on it. Next morning had to report the shower not working and asked again about maintenance and they told us it would be done while we were out, got back nothing had been done so asked again and was told “the wood shops were closed” so had another night of no sleep, next day they sorted both out. Our fire alarm in the room would go off randomly and we told a Scottish guy on the desk that night and his attitude was disgusting. Asked for the manager the next morning and was told they didn’t come to the hotel until the next day. We were only there for a week so we ended up leaving it as we just wanted to relax. Pool The sun bed wars were a joke and half the beds were broken, the floor was like an ice rink when wet and the pool became really murky by the afternoon as there is no where to shower your sun lotion off before getting into the pool. The kids pool had an orange/green scum mark around so we didn’t take our grandson in there. The steps down to the bottom pool were filthy and were overgrown with bushes making it hard to use them and they were slippier than the pool area. I never once seen anyone checking the PH levels and at night a man walked round the pool with a white bucket throwing white powder into the water without checking any levels. How TUI can post them as 3 stars is beyond me"

"Fantastinen viikko tässä hotellissa. Ensimmäistä kertaa täällä ja kaikki henkilökunta ovat erittäin ystävällisiä ja tervetulleita. Huoneessa oli hämmästyttävä näköala ja aina puhdistettu joka päivä, sänkyt ovat erittäin mukavia, mutta ei keittiö huoneessa . Aamiainen ruoka on kaunis ja herkullinen. Mies, joka ajaa puutarhabaarin ja aamiainen on erittäin hauska ja erittäin hyödyllinen ja nainen, joka työskentelee siellä myös. Kauniit kissat juoksevat ympäri. hämmästyttävä ranta aivan hotellin ulkopuolella."

Paradise Beach Hotel

"Booked to stay here through LoveHolidays - and was careful to choose accommodation based on the provision of air conditioning. What the booking agent didn't make clear was that there is a charge of 10 Euros per day when you arrive at this hotel - 140 Euros on top of what we'd already paid for our two-week holiday. Add to this a local tax of 5 Euros per day, and we had to pay more than 200 Euros to reception on our arrival. Not impressed! The rooms are comfortable enough - again the hotel charges extra for a room with a sea view, so they're adding to the price every chance they get. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, but this is not fixed to the wall so you have to hold the shower head over yourself. The breakfast is basic. Cold meats, cheeses and breads. The supposed "hot" food consists of mini hot dogs and tiny cut up pieces of omelette. But these are left to go cold in stainless steel trays, which do nothing to keep them warmed up. There is no variety - the same stuff every day. Despite paying for bed and breakfast, we started going out for breakfast by the second week. The owner/manager of the place is a piece of work. She sits in the poolside bar (where breakfast is served) vaping away and talking on her phone, glaring at the staff and guests. The entire restaurant was left open-mouthed one morning when she stormed out to the poolside to yell at a guest for moving a couple of cushions from one sunbed to another. I don't know if that was breaking a rule, but customer service is obviously overlooked at this place, as the manager's shouting made everyone at breakfast turn to see what was going on - leaving the poor guest (a woman in her 50s) red-faced and almost in tears, pleading with the owner/manager to stop shouting at her. Despite signs saying it wasn't allowed, guests regularly reserved sunbeds with their towels, and brought takeaway food to the poolside. So I can't imagine the woman was guilty of anything which deserved that extreme reaction. This hotel is almost at the end of a busy road at the far side of Argassi. There are many others which are closer to the town with friendlier staff and more comfortable accommodation. I would go back to Zante and stay in this resort - but I'll be giving this hotel a wide berth."
