Wonderful hotel! We stayed in the Glacier Castle section of the hotel. Our room was a polar bear theme, which was a sea view room. When the tv comes on there is a welcome greeting saying our names. Enjoyed seeing the sun setting. Map of location of hotel on the island and map of hotel included here.  The breakfast buffet was amazing. A large variety of food for breakfast.  Ate supper at the supper buffet one night. Expensive for us, but had all types of food including the hot pot at our table. So yummy! The restaurant staff very nice! The hotel staff was friendly and probably a little shocked seeing Americans, but they smiled and greeted us. Pulled out the phone to translate when we checked in. We are used to doing that, too.😁 We received a welcome gift our first night, too.  If you are planning to visit the part of Hainan, we highly recommend The Castle Hotel!

Weather in Haikou was a little gloomy, but Erin went out of her way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. She was readily available on WeChat to answer my queries and gave me good recommendations on how to best spend my time in Haikou. Overall the hotel was also comfortable, and I love that there is an indoor kids playground which my daughter had so much fun in, and also that it’s close to the beach! The buffet breakfast every morning also served up a good spread, but their international dinner buffet was the best!

The front desk staff was very friendly and assisted us in all our request. The hotel room was clean and tidy. Location was also near the various tourist locations that we wanted to visit.

Very nice facilities with hot springs, good breakfast, a wonderful Russian speaker LAN (super helpful and welcoming). There is an awesome park nearby with a small via ferrata at the top and a super beautiful waterfall mid way up the mountain (I bathed there). Really highly recommend that hike. There is nothing else around the hotel so it is good for 2 nights

First off, all staff are so polite and welcoming! They will smile and greet you, from the moment you exit your ride to the pool area where you can go soak in the hot spring. I really enjoyed my stay here, it was extremely peaceful and quiet, I’m sure peak season might be different though. The beach across the road is lovely to sit by and the sand is clean. I enjoyed my breakfast and thanks to Ernest for helping me with check in, and allowing me to split my booking so I could get buffet dinners since I had no partner checking in with me. He was welcoming and explained everything well in English, thank you to Megan for answering my questions and updating my buffet code and Prima for the swift check out. I hope to come again here, while the hotel is a little old now they make up for in service. The housekeeping staff does a great job and cleans the basin and the room is spotless when you come back! The only complaint I have is that the tv has 1 English Channel and that switches to Japanese movies sometimes. At the buffet dinner, the manager helped me choose a hot pot of my choice, and showed me where to get everything, the second time she brought me a plate of the soup of the day, she was so kind and lovely, I didn’t catch her name but I have to say thank you to her aswell. Breakfast is delicious and there’s a variety of whatever you like. Desserts are divine!! The hotsprings are lovely in chilly February and there’s an indoor pool too. Refurbished hotel in a quiet neighnourhood. Big modern rooms. Very happy. In this area right outside you also have several shops and restaurants. The train station and other areas are quite close. Bed is comfortable and the breakfast is okay. Good taste but not big selection.

Hotel is more like what is considered a B&B in the west. It’s nice and right on the beach and the premium rooms have full height windows with 180 degree panoramic view of the see and sunset. However, I think price range per night per room is way overpriced for what this B&B offers. There is no gym, swimming pool, or anything really except a coffee place downstairs. I paid close to sgd 120/night and that’s 20-30% more expensive than 5 star hotels in town and obviously absolutely different service level and environment. Breakfast is very simple here and very Chinese. No fresh vegetables or protein options except eggs. Mostly noodles and fried stuff. During the day the beach is dead as it’s too hot and places are closed. In the evening the place gets alive again and there street vendors selling fresh fish and vegetables Chinese yakitori. No decent restaurants around for lunch - need to order food - you need to read and write Chinese to be able to do that cause apps only in Chinese. Over hyped place overall! Would pay maybe sgd 30/40 per night to stay here but definitely not what they charge.

*BEST HOTEL IN HAIKOU* Our family of six (2 elders, 2 kids, and 2 adults) stayed post conference to participate in an Expo which the venue is next door. It was an amazing stay and one of the best family hotels we have stayed in our travels around the world. The pool is a major feature, with play areas for the kids and hot spa pools for the adults. All the staff from the check-in, to concierge, cleaning crew, restaurants were always cheerful, helpful and accommodating to our family which was amazing as we hardly spoke chinese but they always made the effort to speak English to assist us. The concierge Mr Wade in particular was a star! it was my son's birthday and he sourced a birthcake and arranged for a free family photoshoot on the beautiful hotel grounds. The hotel architecture was in the Tang Dynasty style I was told. The breakfast at the Island Bistro is one of the most extensive and tasty I have ever had. The executive lounge is worth the extra budget, the evening drinks and snacks were also taste and healthy. Our family hung out at the lounge most of the evening and the Executive Lounge staff were always friendly and helpful. Overall a 10*** experience, we would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to family and friends.

I booked three rooms and stayed at Mission Hills Resort for five nights, where we were served by the duty manager, Mary, throughout our stay. We were given a complimentary room upgrade, and Mary also helped ensure that our group was located near each other, making it much more convenient for us. I’m especially for her effort in helping us locate a farm around the resort and for reaching out proactively before the trip. She even shared her contacts and responded to some of my queries after office hours, which truly shows her dedication to her work. Although some parts of the resort are a bit dated and seemed to be undergoing maintenance, it didn’t really affect the overall experience. For the rooms It would be even better if a drawdown curtain or privacy screen could be added to the bathing area or toilet, making it more convenient for larger groups like mine. This resort is ideal for families with young kids or anyone looking for a great parent–child bonding (亲子游) experience. There’s a mini pet house with cute and lively animals where children can get up close and cozy with them. The Children’s Club — Squirrel Village offers a wide variety of daily activities for parent–child bonding. My kids especially enjoyed the activities led by the young and energetic team of hosts (可爱, 葡萄, 糖果, 西瓜, 猩猩, 鳄鱼, and others). They loved it so much that I gave up some of our original itinerary just to let them stay longer, and they’re still humming and reminiscing about the songs and moments from the club. If I travel to Haikou again, I would certainly return to Mission Hills and include a few more days at the Squirrel Club to spend quality time with my child. As mentioned in other reviews, we were also served a delicious pot of dessert every night — a thoughtful and warm gesture that added an extra special touch to our stay. Thank you, Mission Hills Resort, and especially Mary and her Squirrel team, for making our trip so memorable despite the aging facilities. The kids in our group truly had a wonderful and enjoyable time at the resort, and we’ll cherish these moments for a long time. If i am ever travelling back to Hai Kou for 亲子游, I would stay in Mission Hills purely for the Squirrel Children’s Club activities. Ps, the resort actually had some additional in-room items that could be loaned and i feel that it would be better if they could share ongoing promotions.

Overall a pleasant stay for us at this local hotel, which was one of the few that’s able to accommodate my wife and I plus our 3 children, in two connecting rooms. We stayed over 5 nights in this property. It served our purpose perfectly for a short stay at a convenient location served directly by a bus service with the airport. We arrived hours ahead due to changes in flight schedule, but the front desk was very generous and checked us in as soon as the rooms were ready, that's great customer service 👍 The rooms were large and well stocked with the necessary essentials including rubber slippers. There were 2 bathrooms+toilets as well as an additional standalone WC ~ more than enough for our use and made the stay even more pleasant. There was a large living room with an adjacent study area equipped with desk, chair and power outlets, that's shielded off the noise from living room - a great addition for those who needed space to get some work done. The hotel is located in a convenient location that's close to local food places and simple shopping. There's a supermarket in a building basement about two blocks away that's well stocked. You can even get a quick haircut for RMB15 in the same basement for those (guys) who don't care much about style 😂 There are LUCK IN coffee, Mixue, KFC, local eateries, street food, and restaurants all within short walk of about 200m. One thing great about this hotel is the bus transport serving Meilan airport that starts and ends at this property, costing just RMB20 per person per direction. Each hotel booking apparently entitled the guest one free ticket! We departed the hotel on this bus which took about 50 mins to reach the airport, as it made a few scheduled stops along the way and was driven at a slow steady bus speed. That perfectly solved the trouble and costs of having to book 2 taxis due to number of people and luggages, right at the hotel door step! One attraction of the hotel was the hot spring available in the bathroom via a large wooden tub, as well as one outside the hotel for guests. I saw some guests using the public pool which would involve walking out of the hotel in bathrobes and slippers onto the driveway and all. We’re not the hot spring type so no comments, but this feature may appeal to others. Some negative points that prevented the property having full 5 stars: - Erratic WiFi connection - the WiFi sometimes would have no Internet connection, randomly, it could be evening or even morning when everyone was sleeping and not many devices connected. As we had two rooms technically so there were two WiFi logins for our use. Sometimes one would work and not the other and at different times. Sometimes the connection would be lost halfway while using. It’s really irritating. We made multiple feedback but nothing had improved. - the property is really aged and a refresh is badly needed. It’s livable and generally clean for sure, but the decor, style and musky smell especially in the hallways, were unmistakable. According to the plague near the main entrance, the property was completed around the 2000s, that’s time for university graduation if this were a person😀
