Location: Excellent location. About 800m from Kyoto Station. You can walk through an indoor connected mall and station, making it safe and convenient even with luggage.
Cleanliness: The bed is comfortable and the toilet is very clean.
Service: Staff are a mix of Japanese and international, able to speak both English and Japanese.
Facilities: Lifts are fast and responsive. Water dispenser available, please bring your own bottle.
Convenience: Very well equipped. AEON Mall is 100m away and Lawson is 200m away.
Overall: The hotel uses central air conditioning, which may not be ideal if you prefer a colder room. However, the hotel provided a Dyson portable fan, which made the room comfortable and allowed for good sleep. Well done Miyako Hotel. I will definitely return.

Having stayed in Arashiyama already for 1 day at another nearby hotel, I hadn’t anticipated liking the area so much. I located Mulan Hotel and stayed in the dorm bed for 2 nights. Being the only guest there, the beds and common areas (such as bathrooms, kitchen etc) were clean. They had access to a washing machine and dryer which was appreciated after 2 weeks of travel.
Presented with a discount coupon for the neighbourhood onsen, 2 minutes walk from the hotel is a must! They also have bikes for hire, which made exploring the local area and neighbourhood really enjoyable.
Price is great for those on a budget. The bus stop to return to Kyoto Station is 80m from the front entrance. Be mindful its 15-20 minute walk to the major sites and main restaurants.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended and I look forward to my visit there again soon!

Hotelli on hieman bisnestyylinen ja huoneessa oleva televisio on melko pieni. Hotellissa on uima-allas, mutta sinun on maksettava ylimääräistä mukavuuksien käytöstä (noin 10-20 dollaria per henkilö). Friendly, English-speaking staff. The room is basic but comfortable. I sent my luggage here a day earlier and it was kept safely. The hotel is conveniently located near both bus and train stations and is very quiet at night. There isn’t much to see around the area—just a quiet street—and while there are a few nearby restaurants, some are not very kid-friendly.

Located at the prime area of Kyoto where the restaurants and bars are at. Rows of full bloom Sakuras along the canal just outside the premises. Shopping and Lawson / 7-Eleven are stone-throw away. A great location for couple. And yes, I got proposed here! (Explains the wedding band photo)

A little gem of a hotel right in the middle of Kyoto! Location could not be better. The hotel itself is ”Japan sized” (rooms are small) but the space is so cleverly used I spent more time marvelling at the efficiency in design than worrying about the lack of space. Service similarly was very efficient, what was provided was what was needed and done to a high standard. Rooms were not cleaned every day but nice fresh towels were provided every morning. There was no laundry service but there were excellent coin operated laundry machines. Would certainly stay here the next time I return to Kyoto!

I found this hotel after I searched for hotel that very convenient for my parents and location of this hotel was incredible. Very large hotel with large room too. Price was also valuable for size and location. They have lot of restaurants nearby.

This was our favourite hotel in Japan.
The location is very central to Kyoto, but did not feel too crowded and overwhelming. It was very easy to get around Kyoto from this hotel, with a lot of train stations close by.
The room was clean and bigger than most hotels I’ve stayed in during my trip to Japan. The finishes of the room are just gorgeous. It really feels like luxury. The smart TVs were a nice touch too.
The amenities of the spa were really good, and I loved the extra feeling of security knowing women receive a women only key card and men receive a separate one. Nice touch having washers, dryers and vending machines too.
The staff are kind and polite and are more than happy to assist you. Although I did find the self check-in a bit confusing - some translations were a bit off. Regardless, I really recommend this hotel.
This stay was for our anniversary celebration. The daytime front desk staff were very helpful during check-in. After checking in, we appreciated the small gesture from the hotel—a box of chocolates as a gift. Overall, we were 7/10 satisfied with our stay.
However, the internet speed at night was extremely slow—so slow that it took nearly 30 minutes just to load and watch a single video. We called the front desk multiple times for assistance, but no one answered for a long time. In the end, we decided to use our own mobile data to relax and enjoy some entertainment.

Outstanding stay. The staff was absolutely lovely and extremely attentive. I dropped off my luggage on the first day, and it was placed directly in my room before I even returned to the hotel. The hotel was impeccably clean, I was upgraded, the room was very comfortable, and the location couldn’t have been better—right next to the main transportation hub and close to the city center.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.
6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering.
In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction.
If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.

In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence.
I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.

Absolutely loved my entire stay here. I eat breakfast at their bakery every morning. Love their customisable bagels, mortadella sandwich, salted bun and cinnamon mochi donut. Chocolate mochi donut was a little too sweet. Americano and matcha latte were great.
Thoroughly enjoyed their rooftop bar every night (opens till 12am). Awesome vibes, very romantic atmosphere. Staff are sweet, gives heat packs and blankets to keep us warm. Warm cocktails are a must during winters. You can order any random cocktails and they all taste so good.
The distance from the train station to this hotel is quite a distance but I think the overall experience you get in this hotel makes the walk a worthwhile one. Def recommending this hotel to my friends who wanna come to Kyoto.

CchrslI had a great stay at RIHGA Gran Kyoto Hotel. The location is extremely convenient — it’s just a short walk from Kyoto Station, which you can easily reach directly from Kansai International Airport via the Haruka Express. This made traveling with luggage very hassle-free.
There are two convenience stores located near the hotel, which is perfect for quick snacks, drinks, or last-minute necessities. There’s also a shopping mall right next to the hotel, making it easy to shop, dine, or relax without having to travel far.
For those driving, there are three parking lots nearby, which is very convenient and stress-free. Overall, the hotel offers excellent accessibility, great surrounding facilities, and a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!
AAdariEverything was good except the service in hotel restaurants, which was exceptionally bad:
1) breakfast: waited for food for 40 mins, reminded the server 2 times - still nothing;
2) bar: a too long wait for a cocktail. the server said that as apology said cocktail won’t be in included in the bill… but it was there;
3) afternoon tea: told the staff that I dislike dairy products, but have no allergy. So, for example I can eat most sweets, but not the ones with a strong taste of mascarpone cream. In the end they gave me just a plate of fruit and when I remninded them of the above they… did nothing ) I stayed at this hotel and had afternoon tea there last year too - everything was fine then.
All of the above are 3 different restaurants inside the hotel, so I wouldn’t recommend going to any restaurant there. In all other aspects except services related to food the hotel is good.

Firstly, the location is unique, an easy 5 min walk from the station ( Umokoji Kyotonishi) and 3 min train ride to the center of Kyoto. Rooms are large by Japan standards and both the Japanese style rooms ( super comfy ) and more traditional Western styled rooms offer a Scandanavian/ Japanese decor style which is both modern and uncluttered.
In addition, guest services on offer include complementary DIY fresh brewed coffee and in the evenings, complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks . Can be taken either to your room with balcony overlooking parklands or in the guest book or music library, both offering a calm respite from a sometimes frenetic Kyoto CBD.
Unique, special and largely overlooked by tourist group bookings, the Potel Umokoji manages to offer the ambience and guest experiences that many mass tourism venues have lost. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

VVieraskäyttäjäI stayed at your hotel from January and am submitting this formal complaint regarding the unacceptable behavior of front desk staff member Mr. Wu.
Immediately after check-in, our room key did not work. Mr. Wu dismissed our concern without checking and repeatedly insisted the problem was ours, not the card. Only after visible irritation and reluctance did he come upstairs, where it was confirmed the key was faulty. No apology was offered.
Despite being informed that parking fees would be settled at checkout, approximately one hour after check-in (around 4:00 PM), Mr. Wu called our room while we were resting and demanded we come down because the parking fee had not been paid. This felt accusatory and deeply inappropriate.
Additionally, when asking a simple question about which parking card to use, Mr. Wu responded with audible sighs and a condescending attitude.
This conduct is entirely incompatible with professional hospitality standards.
I expect this matter to be taken seriously and appropriate disciplinary action to be taken.
