Location: Excellent location. About 800m from Kyoto Station. You can walk through an indoor connected mall and station, making it safe and convenient even with luggage. Cleanliness: The bed is comfortable and the toilet is very clean. Service: Staff are a mix of Japanese and international, able to speak both English and Japanese. Facilities: Lifts are fast and responsive. Water dispenser available, please bring your own bottle. Convenience: Very well equipped. AEON Mall is 100m away and Lawson is 200m away. Overall: The hotel uses central air conditioning, which may not be ideal if you prefer a colder room. However, the hotel provided a Dyson portable fan, which made the room comfortable and allowed for good sleep. Well done Miyako Hotel. I will definitely return.

A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort in Kyoto During my recent stay at Saka Hotel Kyoto, I was immediately struck by its peaceful surroundings and inviting atmosphere. Located in the charming Higashiyama neighborhood, it offers an ideal launching point for discovering Kyoto’s historic sites. Despite being so close to famous temples and shrines, the hotel maintains a tranquil setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city. From check-in onward, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive team. Their devotion to creating a memorable guest experience was evident in every conversation. Whether offering sightseeing suggestions or promptly assisting with any need, they made me feel completely at home. My room showcased an attractive fusion of modern design and traditional Japanese elements. Soft earth tones, tasteful décor, and well-chosen furnishings created an atmosphere that was both chic and peaceful. The spacious bathtub, in particular, stood out as the perfect place to unwind after wandering Kyoto’s centuries-old streets. Although I didn’t have a chance to sample the hotel’s dining options, every other aspect of my stay was faultless. The exquisite decor, the serene environment, and the staff’s unparalleled service exceeded all my expectations. If you’re seeking a sophisticated, relaxing retreat that still allows you to easily explore Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, Saka Hotel Kyoto is an excellent choice.

I had a great stay at Agora Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist Japanese style that feels both modern and cozy. The location is perfect, close to transportation, shops, and great local restaurants, which made getting around Kyoto very convenient. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality made the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely choose Agora Kyoto Karasuma again on my next visit to Kyoto.

Matkustin yksin, ja henkilökunnan jäsen, joka auttoi minua myöhään sisäänkirjautumisessa ensimmäisenä päivänä, oli uskomattoman ystävällinen. Although we arrived late at the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the onset is open 24 hours, offering clear and warm hot baths. The relaxing atmosphere, with massage chairs to help ease the stress from a long flight, made us feel comforted. Its convenient location within walking distance is a great plus; I highly recommend it.

Potel Umokoji Kyoto redefines what a hotel offers its guests. Firstly, the location is unique, an easy 5 min walk from the station ( Umokoji Kyotonishi) and 3 min train ride to the center of Kyoto. Yet this convenience is coupled with its location adjoining a large wooded park which some guest rooms overlook - a special and calm outlook right in the city centre. Rooms are large by Japan standards and both the Japanese style rooms ( super comfy ) and more traditional Western styled rooms offer a Scandanavian/ Japanese decor style which is both modern and uncluttered. In addition, guest services on offer include complementary DIY fresh brewed coffee and in the evenings, complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks . Can be taken either to your room with balcony overlooking parklands or in the guest book or music library, both offering a calm respite from a sometimes frenetic Kyoto CBD. Unique, special and largely overlooked by tourist group bookings, the Potel Umokoji manages to offer the ambience and guest experiences that many mass tourism venues have lost. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

the hotel area was very convenient, just opposite kyoto station. there are 2 walking distance malls and food shops along the way. space of the room was comfortable and not too small. however only downside is unable to share screen netflix/prime as they do not have the features. Also water bottle is restricted to only 2 per day 🤨 other than that, we had a pleasant stay :)

Clean, enough space in a room for 1, you get free shirt and pyjamas, they change your towels every day for long stay, free breakfast from the nearby restaurant, common space is nice. Gojo subway station is walking distance. Overall I recommend this for any type of travellers.

Superb experience in Nohga. Everything here has been curated very carefully, you can tell the people or group behind this whole hotel concept really put in so much thought for their guests. Absolutely loved my entire stay here. I eat breakfast at their bakery every morning. Love their customisable bagels, mortadella sandwich, salted bun and cinnamon mochi donut. Chocolate mochi donut was a little too sweet. Americano and matcha latte were great. Thoroughly enjoyed their rooftop bar every night (opens till 12am). Awesome vibes, very romantic atmosphere. Staff are sweet, gives heat packs and blankets to keep us warm. Warm cocktails are a must during winters. You can order any random cocktails and they all taste so good. The distance from the train station to this hotel is quite a distance but I think the overall experience you get in this hotel makes the walk a worthwhile one. Def recommending this hotel to my friends who wanna come to Kyoto.

The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa I stayed at The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa and had a mixed experience. The hotel’s design is excellent — modern, tasteful, and thoughtfully executed — and the location is near perfect for exploring Kyoto. One clear highlight was the outdoor courtyard seating: calm, beautifully lit in the evenings, and a genuinely lovely place to unwind after a day out. (Photo attached shows the courtyard, which really captures the atmosphere.) However, the service fell short of expectations. Our breakfast order was forgotten and only addressed after more than 20 minutes. On another occasion, the concierge provided incorrect directions on where to call for an Uber, which led to unnecessary confusion and delay. This reflected a lack of attentiveness and local familiarity that one would not expect from a hotel of this standard. Overall, the hotel excels in design, atmosphere, and location, and clearly has all the ingredients for a very strong stay. That said, service consistency and staff training need improvement to match the quality of the physical space. With better attention to these fundamentals, the hotel could truly live up to the high bar set by its beautifully designed environment.
