We had a good overall stay at Daiichi Takimotokan, a large traditional ryokan-style hotel. While the property is a little dated, it is well maintained and kept clean. The hotel itself offers plenty to do, including restaurants, a souvenir shop, simple arcade games, karaoke, massage services, a public onsen, and even a small reading area with Japanese books. You can easily spend time exploring the building without needing to go out. The location is very convenient. It is just outside the main (short) shopping street and within walking distance to Jigokudani, making it easy to explore the area. Our stay included breakfast and dinner buffet. Dinner had a wide variety of options, including popular sashimi selections and steamed snow crabs, along with both Japanese and Western dishes. Breakfast was a simpler spread but still satisfying. We stayed in a Japanese-style room and found the futons comfortable to sleep on. As we visited during winter, the room had central heating only. At times, we cooled the room by slightly opening the window to let in some cold air. Yukata robes are provided in the room (or you can choose one that fits you at the lobby), and you can wear them around the hotel when heading to the onsen, restaurants, or arcade. The public onsen area is spacious and features many different pools with various functions, so you can take your time and enjoy the experience. Just remember to wash yourself thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the onsen pools. Unfortunately, we did not try the outdoor onsen despite it being open — we were a little intimidated by the winter cold! Overall, we would recommend this hotel, especially for first-timers who want to experience staying in a traditional ryokan. Tip: There are direct buses to and from the hotel from New Chitose Airport and Sapporo. The bus stop is only about 50 metres from the hotel entrance, which made walking in the snow much easier for us. However, the service runs only once a day, so be sure to check the schedule and plan your itinerary accordingly.

The hotel is conveniently located just across from the JR station, only about a one-minute walk away, which made getting around extremely easy. The reception staff were clear, attentive, and very welcoming. Check-in was swift and seamless. The buffet breakfast costs ¥2,500 per person and offers a great selection of dishes, making it a satisfying way to start the day. The fish market is just around the corner, where you can find fresh seafood, fruits, and dried scallops. I would recommend purchasing from the individual stalls outside the main market area as the prices tend to be cheaper. There is also a food court within the market if you would like to enjoy a meal there. Overall, the location is excellent, especially for those arriving by train and wanting easy access to the local market and dining options.

Stayed here for 3 nights and overall had a really positive experience. The location is super convenient, about a 5-minute walk to both the train station and MTR, which made getting around effortless. There are plenty of convenience stores right nearby. The hotel has a nice quiet vibe, which was perfect after busy days out exploring. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room itself was a standout, surprisingly big and spacious by Japanese standards. It was spotlessly clean and tidy, and there was still plenty of floor space even after we opened two large suitcases (something that’s almost impossible in most other compact hotels in Japan). The only downside was the bedding. The duvet (?) was way too thick and heavy for my liking. It made the bed feel quite hot at night, and I ended up sweating a lot despite the AC. Otherwise, this place was near perfect. Would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you’re okay with cranking the AC lower. Solid choice!

The hotel has the best location as we could walk pass JR station in a short time to reach which helped us in a very cold and windy day. I loved that they separated the washing basin, toilet and shower room so we didn’t need to wait for others to finish everything. They also provided additional pillows. My favorite part of this hotel was BREAKFAST. I loved their Kaiten sushi. I loved Kani Miso which was one of my memorable sushi of all time. Also, the raw squid was so delicious and fresh. The salmon roe they gave us 1 cup each was so freshhhhh . It made me realize that the real one was this one. The atmosphere in the dining restaurant was so bright and comfy. I definitely go back to this hotel again if I will be in Hakodate.

We loved staying here and the surprise upgrade we received was unexpected and much appreciated. The room was spotless and well thought out. Service was friendly, welcoming and professional. The food was fantastic with some local options and a wide range of western and Asian offerings. The price we paid was very fair for the room we stayed in and I would stay here again in a heart beat and would recommend.

Amazing hotel. Close to the TV tower and the park. The train station is also not far away. It's convenient for when you have to walk with your luggage in the snow. Relaxing hot bath. Lavish breakfast with a lot of options. Outstanding service. The only complaint is that the laundry service was closed for the holidays and there is no self service laundry in the hotel. The closest one was 20 minutes away.

The hotel’s location is the reason that I booked for my stay in Sapporo. It is opposite the JR Sapporo Station and airport limousine bus stop is right in front of the hotel. Hotel reception is on the 7th floor and breakfast is on the 1st floor. When taking the elevator to your room, you will need to scan your room card before proceeding. By the way, hotel does provide free coffee and drinks for hotel guests in the lobby. FYI, there is a Lawson, the convenient store which is near to the hotel building.

One of the best ryokans I have visited in Hokkaido There are 2x 7 feet bed (very comfy), big projector in the living room, and the in room onsen was spacious and clean! Clean and modern rooms with a smart tv The room was overlooking the snow and unfortunately lake view was blocked by the snow. Both dinner and breakfast were of top notch quality (we have tried many and they're usually very average), every dish was delicious and we were very full and satisfied. There was also a free beer to each guest every night, big selection of black teas in the lounge and free inari sushi (which was btw delicious!!!) Definitely 100%% would recommend to anyone that is looking for a last stop before heading to the airport

Location was excellent. 5mins walk fr station. Surrounded with shops, restaurants, convenient stores and the morning market is just 3 mins walk away. Can see the harbour n mountains fr hotel room. Beautiful place. Hotel staffs friendly n helpful to my enquiries. Lots of seafood places to eat.
