I love Charlton house, it was really quirky. The way it has been styled is really unusual. It makes you feel like you're in a bit of a fantasy world with the little corridors and quirky little nooks and crannies. For me it fit the bill, it did the job that I needed but I understand for those people that do not get it on an offer and pay a lot of money to stay there I understand how they might say that it's a bit dirty a bit tired a bit grubby and needs a bit of TLC. There seemed to be one very sweet man that was running around doing pretty much everything and the rest of the staff were hidden behind doors or just not there. I'm not sure. There were staff present in the spa and they were lovely and helpful and kind. My little room was gorgeous and cute and cozy, and clean enough although tatty in places. For me I really had a nice day and I would definitely come back. The breakfast was extremely basic but I didn't have extremely high expectations, and I'm not really a breakfast person, so again it may not make the tick box for others but it did the job for me. The hotel is situated on the busy A38 but is not affected by traffic noise. All the staff are polite and considerate and go the extra mile to provide good service The food is outstanding ; beautifully presented and prepared. And it tastes great too! Good bar too which is imp because there’s little else to find a drink in the village. Ideal for short or longer stays if you have a car. Taunton is clos for good shopping and the Somerset levels a dozen miles away. I’d stay there again anytime.

We had a delightful stay at The George Hotel. The staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome. While the rooms are a little dated, they were warm, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious, served hot, and offered a great selection—even our fussy son found something to enjoy! We would be more than happy to stay here again.

The rooms were spacious and well-lit, with a simple yet elegant decor. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep without any disturbances. The hotel offered a wide range of amenities, from a fitness center to a swimming pool, from dining options to meeting rooms, all reflecting the hotel's high standards.

First stay here and will definitely return. 3rd stay at a Mercure brand hotel and cannot fault any! Bridgewater is a pleasant town with plenty of places to enjoy and pass the time. The hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms are very nice with excellent air conditioning if you need it! Comfortable beds, all mod cons including Samsung TV, USB sockets by the beds, ambient lighting, storage well thought out, small fridge, room service, fabulous bathrooms with waterfall shower and lovely extras such as decent shower wash and hair wash, make up/shaving mirror with lighting. Very secure hotel with 24 hour reception and lift only operable with key cards. Didn't try the hotel restaurant but judging by the volume of people eating there I'd assume very good! Nothing to fault!

This was a lovely hotel. It is within walking distance to Bath town centre. There is a cost to park a car there.

Special thanks to Manager Emilia and the team at Holiday Express for making our stay wonderful. The hotel was spotless, the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and the price was very reasonable. It’s a great place for families – our kids loved the swimming pool – and the bar was a nice extra for relaxing in the evening. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely return!

It was a very special reunion for a group of nurses celebrating 50 years since we started our course in May 1975. In those days this hotel was a nurse's home and we all lived here for around 18 months. We had booked lunch,the food was lovely and the service was amazing. We so enjoyed our stay, 5 of us stayed for one or two nights. So beautiful and peaceful, couldn't have been better. Benice organised things for us, highly recommend her if you are booking an event.
