I found my one night stay at the Highlander Hotel to be very pleasant. My room was a generous double en suite and was spotless. As a solo traveller on a pedal bike I was pleased that there was a secure shed where I could leave my bike in confidence. The staff were very helpful over this and again when I reported that the tv wasn't receiving a signal. This was sorted very quickly with a new aerial cable. Breakfast was good, with plenty of fresh fruit and a choice of hot dishes. Great value and I'd certainly go back.

I always try to stay here on my trips to Inverness. Friendly staff, literally seconds from the train station entrance.
Room warm with all the amenities you need and a huge bath with hot water all day. Super comfy bed and fine bed linen.
Hotel combines traditional Scottish character, tartan carpets, stag heads that sort of thing, with modern touches, displays of modern art etc. Great lounge to use at reception.

Excellent hostel! Great common self-catering facilities; there were two full kitchens with plenty of tables and seating so multiple parties could be cooking at a time. Staff were very helpful and let me leave my bag before check-in and after check-out to accommodate my bus times.
The room (4-bunk female dorm) was very spacious so plenty of room for sorting through my bags. Bunk was large and included a USB plug and power outlet there. Room had large attached shower and toilet rooms.

The facilities were all that we expected and needed. The food was excellent (the roast beef was cooked properly and not raw, as it is in some establishments). The staff were also excellent - very polite and helpful. They also tended to say 'You're welcome' - not the much too common 'No problem'. That was lovely to hear and made us actually feel welcome!

Yes, I was able to check in early, which was really helpful. The room was spotless, and there were tea, coffee, and even a biscuit — very impressed. I went to the gym, which was well equipped, even with dumbbells up to 20kg and a bench. The swimming pool and sauna were perfect after my session, and the showers were great quality and very clean. They even had a spinner to dry swimwear.
I went for a meal in the restaurant — 10 out of 10. Amazing selection and served straight away. I will definitely be back; for the price, it’s hard to beat. Incredible location as well.

Location was perfect, Decor in room requires freshening up, Back of the door and part of facings were fresh painted but not completed. Shower requires cleaning (Black mould just needs Bleaching ) and the plastic seals replaced They were yellowed with age. Staff were Very efficient and Friendly 😀

Access to the high street is more convenient by car, as walking with a child may not be practical.
Ample parking is available, and housekeeping services are provided daily.
The breakfast offering was good, with a wide selection for non-vegetarian guests. However, vegetarian options were limited.
Guests have complimentary access to the swimming pool and fitness center, which is a valuable amenity.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to guests who are comfortable with a 30–40 minute walk to the high street or plan to travel by car.

VVieraskäyttäjäThe hotel is looking and feeling very tired and dated and in serious need of upgrading. They’re charging 2025 prices for 1980 standard services. They clearly cater for bus tours and large parties which are not there to appreciate where they are and their surroundings. There was serious problem with running hot water in the room as well as in the showers in the spa. I overheard many guests complaining about no hot water in their rooms at reception.
Breakfast was very disappointing, they offer a continental selection of one type of cold meat and one type of sliced cheese with pan loaf bread! Fort William boasts artisan bakery’s so no excuse there. During breakfast very loud 80s movie themed music is blaring, the dining room is so big there’s practically a speaker above every second table. When asked to turn it down we were met with a standard reply, “I was just asked to turn it up”. Totally unbelievable. Due to the large parties tables are not cleared fast enough nor cleaned, we had to clean and set our own table before we could eat and this is where we were directed to sit. Waiting staff are clearly not trained nor directed appropriately for a hotel boasting a high standard. We were not encouraged to dine in the hotel at all.
The exterior of the building is not only showing signs of disrepair but is also very dirty. They are missing the B in the main signage and is the first thing you see on arrival.
Positives: the room was clean although all views from most rooms do not look out onto anything nice. Temperature of the pool, steam room and jacuzzi excellent. The lounge bar appeared to have the best atmosphere and felt like a highland hotel.
Would I recommend this hotel? Definitely not!
Would I stay there again? Definitely not!

VVieraskäyttäjäFirst let me say that the owners were incredibly kind and accommodating. It pains me that to even write this but I thought fellow travelers should hear my experience. First, there are two aye stays in Inverness. My gps took me to the wrong one first. That was awkward. After I finally figured it out, the place was very cutely decorated with Scottish and Loch Ness decor. Contactless check in was easy however a board with everyone’s name and room numbers does not feel super safe for me a solo female traveler. But over all easy enough. Next I stayed in room 7 which is up a flight of stairs so make sure you pack light! (Which you should do anyway in Scotland.) My room had just been renovated with new carpet but it smelled like off gassing and I had to open the window (which was broken) there was a radiator for heat which I had no idea how to use. So it got a little chilly. Now here comes the problems: the rooms are very close together and the walls are paper thin. I was kept up until 3 in the morning hearing conversations and snoring. We were only given the choice of receiving breakfast between 7:30-8:30 in the dining room. So I woke up earlier than I would have liked to eat breakfast. Which was just okay. Nothing too outstanding to write about but again the hostess was very sweet. Overall I could see that they’re trying their best. But I would recommend sound machines in each of the rooms or something so people can have a good nights sleep. The location was pretty good and just over the bridge from the high street.

The breakfast had a good range of choices and was delicious. The staff were polite and friendly and were very happy to fuss over my small child!

Staff are really nice. Rooms have everything you need and are quite spacious. Food is really good although a wee bit expensive but still good sized portions.

Huoneita näytti nykyaikaisilta ja hiljattain uudistetuilta. Kylpyhuone oli hyvin suunniteltu, jossa on kirkas musta tiilet ja kulta varusteet, ja kuuma vesi toimi täydellisesti. Yksi huoneen parhaista ominaisuuksista oli erillinen sukellusalue, yhdessä mikroaaltouuni ja jääkaappi. Tämä oli erityisen mukava lämmittää ruokaa tai nauttia valmis-syömään ruokaa läheisestä Aldi jos olet liian väsynyt päätä ulos. Huoneessa oli myös keittiö, kahvia, teetä ja jopa suklaawafer mielekäs tervetullut kosketus.

KK T Richard TanStayed here recently when i was touring Scotland. A very nice hotel. Location quite far from Inverness city centre. There is no expressway to and from this hotel at the airport. So the drive can be slow due to the small roads.
The close proximity to the airport does not present any aircraft noise problem. But I could hear my neighbour's hair dryer.
I like the size of the room and the bathroom. Larger than most hotels. I particularly like the walkin shower as my wife and I can't climb in and out of bath tubs.
The breakfast was great even though the variety of choices may not be as large as other Marriott brands of hotels. Fried eggs need to be ordered. The sunnyside up was the best i have eaten.
The staff were all wonderfully friendly and helpful.
You must register your car to avoid being charged. But I am sure with the many talents in the entire Marriott group, I am sure they can think of a better way to manage the parking system without their customers complaining on Internet.
Overall my wife and I enjoyed our stay.
